no, the pressure has nothing to do with it, it's the percentage of oxygen in the gaseous mixture of the atmosphere. We've had roughly the same air pressure since life appeared on earth, but there was more oxygen in the atmosphere percentage wise. Today our atmosphere is about 25% oxygen, in the carboniferous it was closer to 35%-40%. The rest of our atmosphere is nitrogen and traces of argon and carbon dioxide.

Read the book last week. This movie was released when I was a kid, it still remains one of my favorites. I can identify many differences to the book. But there were many references to the book, but I feel the general movie goer would not be enthralled by the political debate and underlying tones the author included where as the movie appeals to a wider audience. Both are excellent, I recommend you read the book if you like the movie.

It is on porpuse, it is a satire, a piss-take. The military tactics were compared to the bugs(send millions of poeple to fight directly), the dialouge brilliant in it's awfulness, the world felt sort of real, a facist society where life can easily be thrown away and violence is prefered. And Verhoeven read the book, not all of it of it. And the tactics were still better than the ones in 300

first you need infantry on the ground for that to happen. Second, the only problem with that is maintaining the drilling location long enough for the nukes to reach their target, unless the nukes can drill themselves with some preparation. Also you have to detonate 20 nukes at the same time in different locations to even start killing a significant number of bugs. I'm thinking something like 20 nukes a day every day for about two weeks to win the war.
