The lack of musical balance in the mainstream is as sickening .
Back in the day you would have music like the 2Live Crew, NWA, Ice T or 2Short but then you would have some Public Enemy, Brand Nubian, Boogie Down Productions, Rakim, DeLaSoul, A Tribe Called Quest, Poor Righteous Teachers, Pete Rock & CL Smooth, Heavy D to balance it out.
Schoolly D of Philly (East Coast) started gangsta rap-PSK What Does It Mean. Ice T heard it brought it to the West & Eazy blew it up.
If i'm going to be real with ya'll... there's no one to blame but the people who listen to Hip hop. If you don't like what you're hearing then don't listen to the song. Shoot. I know that there are some hip hop songs that I just don't enjoy listening to. Others I repeat over and over again. I know what I like to hear so i'll hear it. If people like listenin to "Hot in Herre" Then shoot they like it. That's all I got.
how is doing tht with a credit card degrading it was her idea they dont ask the girl who done it ya know.i dont no about u but girls i c are always wearing skirts with look like belts n shit. then they got the nerve 2 bitch about russel simmons.
Blame nelly, even though the idea was the young ladie's and the girls knew what they were getting into when they signed up. If the women cared they wouldn't have done it. So tip drill is now defining his career. He has an extremely positive song called n dey say but half yall dont know wtf that is and that's sad
Agreed. Though Hip hop is dumbed down already. Didn't use to be. I'd like to think it use to be something more, but had been taken and turned into just business and power over people.
Russell Simmons is having a bad day? "Out of the heart the mouth speaks" Let us be concious of the people we deem as the representative of our culture.
The perceived equality in this American society has been a slow acting poision to the black communities. We have allowed ourselves to be placed in the "Pop Culture Box" once again. It happened in the 1920's with ragtime. In the 30's with Jazz. In the 40's with Swing and Jazz. During the 50's with Blues; 60's motown; need i continue through the decades? We have allowed black culture to be placed in marketing and profits. Just like slavery was a market.
im with u dog im down, we cant let this bitch ass corporations fuck up the only way we have to communicate with people from a reality perspective. plus we need to elevate the level of political views and intellectual capacity and take it to the next level.
ToWestCoast: What or Where is the next level? I hear ppl speak of this mythical area of our society. When I hear the phrase "Next Level" I hear a person that does not know where they are going. Be definitive! What is the "Next Level"?
What pisses me off is that the indestry wont wise up because there making money. We need to put this on tv and send this message to black america. Nas coulndt have been more right. Seeing our self corruption makes me wanna cry. As far as i'm concerned, the black people corrupting this generation are no better then the blacks who sold their brothers to slavery.
yea, we gotta spread the word about this. (no more degrating music) what else bothers me is the that when someone says truthful things like the phrase "hip hop is dead" people run behind the "hater" excusse and not look at why the statement was said. but now that i've found this, ima spread the word. care to help?
This panel is the best panel Ive seen everybody is on point. Like Yoda said Unlearn what youve learned. Also women cant be disrepected unless it is allowed. Those video girls cant blame rappers for the need for attention thats the woman's fault.
I have something to say about it. This is real. If there bitches and hoes in our coummity they have the right to talk about. People look to point the finger at these rappers.
After "Public Enemy" the hip-hop goes gangsta rap (Dr. Fre etc) and now is all about blig-blig, hos etc. I want to see is change the mind of the industry masters, including perons like Jay-Z. And, to finish, the lady is beautifull, i love her! :-)))
Funny that the same alienated people who spends time in youtube searching this degrading rap videos and putting emotional opinions about gangsta rap, about how 50 cent is great and all, don´t have nothing to say about this.
I TOTALLLY TOTALLLY AGREEE With This Womyns TOTAL Shock At Russels Seeming lack of care for the topic,Not to mention he treated Byron like he was personally attacking HIM,meanwhile, this whole time,With him being Vegan and all,i allways thought Russell spoke about elevating the community thru education ect...Well,he basically just acted a DAMN fool,if i ever did see one...
I love Hip-Hop and I've seen the documentary they're talkin about...4 me I'm torn between being turned on by the stuff these women do in these videos and in the clubs and at the same time bein like "Dag, why she puttin herself out there like that?" I'm man enough 2 admit that...I do actually pray 4 a time where we're all in the clubs actually listenin 2 the music vibing and everybody chillin
