Yes ... Bondi is a very attractive place, especially for sharks. Not too long ago I have been pulled out because of shark alert. Very exciting.

BTW if you do not know Australia well, try this free little app: iiFind Lite (for iPhone). It helps you to find a route between your hotel/motel/hostel and destination find café/restaurant/petrol station or ATM along the route you are traveling. Very handy app ... probably not applicable when you are swimming though.

Bondi is the most over-rated beach in Sydney. I prefer Cronulla or Maroubra where it is less crowded but still has all the cafes and restaurants nearby. The absolute BEST beaches in Australia are the white sanded beaches of Jervis Bay - it is absolute PARADISE down there. No crowds and the water is so clean as Jervis Bay is surrounded on 3 sides by national park. You get to swim in the turquoise waters of a Marine Park surrounded by dolphins.  Bondi? Forget it!

@73mandala I'd like to make it clear that the deep ocean outlets took care of the brown floaters at bondi beach. I think they were installed sometime around 1990.

In 1988 or so, I went to a 'Turn Back the Tides' concert on Bondi Beach. Bands like Midnight Oil played. The idea was to raise awareness of these turds and do something about it.

I loved living at Bondi Beach in '99. I was single and the views of the beach from our windows were great!
