that is a bit unfortunate - although can you see my side too. a lot of the parties(not all) have trouble when being stopped so police go in with the expectation of having violence against them, which can affect how they react to advances by party goers. the problem is the party is illegal and since that is the case it is impossible for the police to do anything other than shut it down. they have to uphold the law (trespass or public order in this case)

They didnt stop us in the late 80's/ 90's. They tried but the free party scene has been going solidly for all that time and getting bigger. All they are gonna do is bring everyone people together, especially with them stopping untold legal festivals now and nobody having anywhere to go and dance. @dexorcist The only rave I went to in the 90's that was sucessfully busted was a Fear Teachers one in East Horsley. That required well over 300 riot police.
Most of the times they would just turn up and seal off the area and let the thing end to avoid confrontation.

Are we watching the same video? The police are called in - ok bummer. But how the officers react in the situation I believe is highly, highly professional.
They take the generator and walk away, but are then bumrushed by the crowd and only react with the minimum necessity of self defence. They push the people who are coming at them away and mace the most persistent. They don't advance into the crowd, they don't pull sticks.
What do you expect them to do? Lay down and take a beating?

@DeclanDG I totally agree, I enjoy zoning out to the music as much as the next guy. It's just that the damage has been done, someone called the brass and they have to respond. I simply think a lot of animosity is being directed the wrong way. As I said the police handle the situation they are put in decently imo. Rave busts is a symptom, the cause is the laws and those who make them. The problem is the mentality that make people use the democracy to ban raving.

near a dangerous location (quarry ect) so that there is risk of death if they break up the party
miles away from houses so that no noise complaints
try to publicise it to people who won't tip off police, don't organise online
weight down all equipment, don't start any fires
bring your own mace, if the cops do come and start to break it up - give them some back :)

it's bad generalisation - the minority of guys with hoods spoil it for the majority by commiting a lot of crime with them on.
if you were having an illegal raid the police have to shut it down - they moved in to take the generator (which you can claim back at a later date) and were then assualted by the crowd and in such a situation they are then allowed to defend them selves - if you are the land owner wanting to stop this rave what chance would you have agaisnt that intimidation

that is a bit unfortunate - although can you see my side too. a lot of the parties(not all) have trouble when being stopped so police go in with the expectation of having violence against them, which can affect how they react to advances by party goers. the problem is the party is illegal and since that is the case it is impossible for the police to do anything other than shut it down. they have to uphold the law (trespass or public order in this case)

i think i have the benefit of having the viewpoint of a farmer (ex) it can be very frightening for farmers and their families to have their farm or property invaded by loads of guys and be powerless to stop them.most would call the police as they felt threatened
