having 14% hhit rating and 28 expertise helps alot in heroics and raids, so far i've had 16k dps doin Hadronox denied by slapping down a Death and decay then using howling blast and frost strike strike till i got howling blast again =D
For heroics this may be the case, but as Frost DW in raids like ICC 25, this is not the case anymore. In fact DW frost has the worst burst out of all the trees. Only if you're really really good can you pull off good dps of around 9.5k+, while the most "good" unholy dk's can pull off 10kish single target. Frost DW demands more attention and skill, and pulls less dps overall...it's really a disappointment
@yahzeef Unfortunately, yahzeef is right. The lack of adds on bosses hurts Frost a lot, there are practically no ICC or ToC fights that have multiple adds to hit with Howling Blast, unlike what Ulduar was like.
I've tried alternative gear setups, specs, etc... but Frost just doesn't scale well enough with ICC itemization.

@Quetzecoatl well, you're right it is a really late reply and things have changed since then. With all the new buffs that were brought with patch 3.3, frost DW has become MUCH better. Obliterate scales very nicely with arp and haste now and is without a doubt your single hardest hitting ability. Honestly, whenever I DW, I do not HB unless there are A) more than one target, or B) I get a rime proc, and during a spare gcd i use it.

As it stands, frost dw and unholy are at the top, with blood still in last place. I've reached 13k+ dps on both specs, and they're both good, just depends on your gear and playstyle. DW frost is definitely back

What's the point of tanking unholy ? I'm just curious because I see no advantage compares to Blood or Frost. Bon shield disapear after ... 3 or 4 shot, then you have no other abilities (beside spell tanking with your anti-magic shield/zone.
Blood, as I think, has more tanking spells, if i think about Will of Necro, Vampiric Blood, Veteran of Third War, etc.
Frost as well with UA would be more useful than Bone Shield !?

I guess you were talking about "Blade Barrier". Talking about this ability is the same as talking about Toughness and Anticipation; you can't skip them as a tank.
Right now, I'm at 29k armor, 40.7k HP, 565 Def, 27.1 Dodge and 21.5 parry. I tried unholy and completely got raped. I then re-switch as blood, then everything works fine.

mate, your main dmg source is obliterate but you barely use PS? good advice always keep the both diseases up. also i would do something else with your spec and glyphs too :P
i used to have a casting sequence. but after raiding some time i found at that as frost, procs is crucial so you should leave that in the hands of a macro.
I wouldn't leave anything other than chained abilities like UA+BT or a trinket clicky in the hands of macros or cast sequences, especially for a dynamic playstyle like frost.
I pull 5k+ on all fights aside from champs/twins/anub where I stay around 6.8k and usually end up slowly ending at 7k (don't ask me why, it befuddles me too)
im just curious, y dont u also use toughness for more armour , so u can get more ap from the bladed armor, is it because there isnt enof talent points or is there another reason y u didnt
if your dps'ing you dont the armour a tank would since your not taking majority damage, youd be taking indirect or damage from the adds if there is any
yea becuz DC is supposed to a fixed amount if i remembered correctly depending on ap and FS is based on WEP dmg.recently i respecced from 2h blood to DW frost and in blood my DC was critting for 4-5k i think and my ap was at 3.5 but in frost my FS is critting for 5-6 and with the glyph of FS you can fire off more FS's
heh your frost strike should be doing way more dmg then deathcoil and if you are glyphed right and speced right you shouldnt even have death coil in ur rotation > OB OB Bs BS FS FS and use howling blast when you get frezzing fog and get the glyph that makes ir cause frost fever so you dont have to waste a rune on icy touch

Actually that's a good question. It's a really small amount of damage regardless, but I'll test it.
I think, though I'm not entirely sure, that the reason you put Fallen Crusader on your mainhand is because the offhand hits less often, in addition to the damage penalty it takes.
Atm ima say Dw frost is less dps then blood or unholy. If you play unholy or blood right youll see the big difference bettween dw frost. Unholy all about apllying disease and Gargoly at the right time and blood knowing when to pop DRW
nice vid i watched it over and over. good spec as well but for 1 on 1 combat it sucks ballz. im highly undergeared but with the soec i was doing 2.5k dps in heroics. howling blast is good for multiple targets and i picked a bit of unholy instead of blood so i lowered time on DaD to 15 secs :) nice vid

It's totally meant for blood. You dump like 6 heart strikes = easy proc for 180 str. can't do that as frost.Because 4piece ULD gives 20% extra dmg PER disease adding up to 40% making oblit hit mad hard, and 4p t9 ToC only gives chance to crit on disease tics. dps in frost with t9 would just be bad. imo
Do you know the chance for proc? I assume it's on a 45 sec internal cooldown or something like that, however i'd be surprised if the chance to proc wasn't high enough so as not to gimp frost and unholy dps. I really doubt blizz would intentionally screw over the other specs.
I see you have the signature 0/53/18 build as your offset, I find it out parses any blood subspec on almost any fight. Although I'd drop 1 point out of KM for UA and use it with BT inbetween bloodstrikes.
To each their own though, you do pretty well with a blood subspec anwyay.
I know this is probably a dumb question, but I don't know much about dks. I notice that you are only using IT and not PS, therefore only having the one disease up at a time. Is this because the dmg from PS is simply not worth the one unholy rune it consumes?

that spec is about as useful as a poopy flavored lollipop. Ugly UI too..way too busy and messy. Speccing into unholy instead of blood is the way to go..also don't get icey talons if your guild has windfury. You could be doing 6k+ with that gear if you fix that broken spec.

Even by the time I finished the vid and posted it here it was August 19th.
So compare dps in Uld/Naxx gear. It annoys me when people forget this.
I took a 3 month hiatus from the game so I probably won't make more PvE videos until ICC comes out, but you'll see. I'm almost caught up already.

I have 14702 armour in a lot of top end gear (read, higher armour value)... right?
Of that, 14274 is from items. 10% of that is 1427... so, let's apply the Bladed Armour formula.
(1427 / 180) * 5 = 39.64 AP.
39.64 AP for FIVE talent points with high ilvl gear? Where would you even get these points?
Also, it's "Your spec leaves much to be desired."

On ur spec, u have Bladed armor, but no Toughness.. Why don't u have toughness?
Toughness gives more armor, and more armor gives more AP than Bladed Armor.

yea becuz DC is supposed to a fixed amount if i remembered correctly depending on ap and FS is based on WEP dmg.recently i respecced from 2h blood to DW frost and in blood my DC was critting for 4-5k i think and my ap was at 3.5 but in frost my FS is critting for 5-6 and with the glyph of FS you can fire off more FS's

heh your frost strike should be doing way more dmg then deathcoil and if you are glyphed right and speced right you shouldnt even have death coil in ur rotation > OB OB Bs BS FS FS and use howling blast when you get frezzing fog and get the glyph that makes ir cause frost fever so you dont have to waste a rune on icy touch

Not anymore, i've seen deathcoil it for 8k from moderately geared players. My frost strike combo crits for more sure, but not in a single strike.

Actually that's a good question. It's a really small amount of damage regardless, but I'll test it.
I think, though I'm not entirely sure, that the reason you put Fallen Crusader on your mainhand is because the offhand hits less often, in addition to the damage penalty it takes.

Atm ima say Dw frost is less dps then blood or unholy. If you play unholy or blood right youll see the big difference bettween dw frost. Unholy all about apllying disease and Gargoly at the right time and blood knowing when to pop DRW

in blood spec and pres, i pulled about 4.2k dps in a 25 man, when i specced frost and duel weild i pulled 5.6k dps 25 man. but thats my opinion.

nice vid i watched it over and over. good spec as well but for 1 on 1 combat it sucks ballz. im highly undergeared but with the soec i was doing 2.5k dps in heroics. howling blast is good for multiple targets and i picked a bit of unholy instead of blood so i lowered time on DaD to 15 secs :) nice vid

Dunno bout you other DKs but Frost isn't very good to be honest, Blood IS much better, frost is second to blood, but frost is more sustained damage, as where blood is more burst, Unholy is just plain bad, I have yet to find 1 GOOD unholy dps, and your dps isn't all that great...also considering the top 3 dpsers are DKs lol... which is pretty sad

Tier 9 is bad for frost spec, the set bonus is retarded. Best Frost DPS is 4 piece Ulduar.

It's totally meant for blood. You dump like 6 heart strikes = easy proc for 180 str. can't do that as frost.Because 4piece ULD gives 20% extra dmg PER disease adding up to 40% making oblit hit mad hard, and 4p t9 ToC only gives chance to crit on disease tics. dps in frost with t9 would just be bad. imo

Do you know the chance for proc? I assume it's on a 45 sec internal cooldown or something like that, however i'd be surprised if the chance to proc wasn't high enough so as not to gimp frost and unholy dps. I really doubt blizz would intentionally screw over the other specs.

I see you have the signature 0/53/18 build as your offset, I find it out parses any blood subspec on almost any fight. Although I'd drop 1 point out of KM for UA and use it with BT inbetween bloodstrikes.
To each their own though, you do pretty well with a blood subspec anwyay.

I know this is probably a dumb question, but I don't know much about dks. I notice that you are only using IT and not PS, therefore only having the one disease up at a time. Is this because the dmg from PS is simply not worth the one unholy rune it consumes?

that spec is about as useful as a poopy flavored lollipop. Ugly UI too..way too busy and messy. Speccing into unholy instead of blood is the way to go..also don't get icey talons if your guild has windfury. You could be doing 6k+ with that gear if you fix that broken spec.
