Odd that only one person I've seen noticed the very beginning when Thom gets a note talking about his song limit total. Its because they're on a set for MTV and are being constrained to a time table. He even throws away the note after showing the crowd. To be honest, I would MUCH rather listen to a few more songs by Radiohead then ever even having to hear whatever else they had playing.

he's just a really energetic performer, like matt of muse. without a guitar in his hands he has an excuse to dance around. besides, i've heard many live versions where he messes up the lyrics, especially the intro, because its hard for him to play and sing at such a fast pace. bit of the same for karma police, but he always manages to keep going

I always thought it was a song about a psychopath. I split into two different viewpoints, the chorus is the victim: "I keep the wolf from the door..." and the verse is a stream of conciousness from the psycho. It nicely explains the change in register and style between the two as well, I feel.
