  • Ya I just downloaded this mp3 at soundnabber..com

  • Just wonderful. Maynard you were the one and only, we will miss you Boss.

    MIKEY

  • sound is all that matters, i don't need a video to love Maynard, i just need his music!

by the way, that's a very good sound quality if you compare it to the video!!!

    5/5

  • increible...!!!

  • Stupid hd movies! Love maynard, great song. bad video quality though obviously :P but the sound is great

  • That's weird, but I enjoyed listening.

    Thanks for posting it.

  • Simply an amazing performance. Damn I miss seeing him.

  • *soils pants*

    WOW.

  • Face it guys. The era has gone. Maynard made high = musical. rest his soul. Total legend. I'm glad I was around for some of it.

  • I play Maynard and Wynton,Clifford,Dizzy, cannot! However, you can go everywhere and here way too many trumpet players copying bebop lips and playing them decently....why? because it is possible to study, practice and learn those licks....it is not possible to study and practice Maynard's music because you have to have CHOPS! Adolph "Bud" Herseth former

Trumpet of the Chicago Symphony exclaimed that Maynard Ferguson was the best brass player of the 20th century....and he was correct!

  • wait what the hell r u guys talking about they r different styles

  • There's no way Maynard blew him across the room or whatever. Maybe at snake trills or whatever, but not a pure heart and soul jazz. We didn't have to be there to know that.

  • ...and they say Canadians don't know how to have fun... awesome chops

  • Maynard had great jazz chops in his early days.

  • blablabla...did you put the minus right? are you a kid.........yes you are, you can't trash on clifford kid, it's like if you were trashing on Pele or maradona....nevermind, go home and make homework

  • Child; I never trashed on Brown. I just tell it like it is. If you didn't hear the concert I spoke about, you have no reference point from which to draw any conclusion. Now, play nice and be a good boy. Back to the woodshed for you. Maybe someday you'll understand.

  • mmmmm well boy peace!!

  • Its not a stupid comment, genius - I heard them both, together, in the same room, at the same concert, and the FACT is, Maynard blew Brown out of the door! Simple fact. Nothing against Brown, who I also love to listen to.

  • soft''he was mad in thatconcert, and even he say to the people''hey are you dead people!!!...are you gona dance orwhat!''..whooaoo you are no't hee? well let's go home''then at finish of the last tune he says''good night''hegobackstage and the people scream ''arturo arturo '' claps and claps and Mr Arturo NEVER COMEBACK TO PLAY JUST ONE MORE TUNE! he incomodate the people, even my self.....I DONT WHANT TO DANCE MR ARTURO ..I WHANT TO HEAR YOUR MUSIC!

  • i love arturo also but i rememer him because the noise hi does against his sound guy, he say..well scream ''the trumpet is to loud....the keyboard is to loud..the piano is to soft.

  • I've seen Maynard 5 or 6 times and it was always balls to the walls fun.

  • he was so funny guy, when he play the first piece, he make the circular breath on high A or something , and the people at the begining was like ''ok another jazz legend'', but when hi introduce himself with his BIGGG SOUND his big personality and authority, the people imediately screammm like crazy, then after that piece he says ''ohh you know with that end **LIKE HIGH A** i remember my first wife'' hahah he was a funy guy....i really miss him, not only for the music but for his good mood!

  • Ya, he is missed dearly. He always had lots of jokes, and loved life. There is supposed to be a tribute movie coming out, that is wife is supposed to be helping with, but I haven't heard anything about it recently.

  • MOVIE WOAAHH and you know they need hundreds of movies to explain the true love and inspiration of the great ANGEL OF THE TRUMPET!....thanks man imgona search that movie...WE LOVE YOU MAYNARD KEEP PLAYING IN THE SKY !!!

  • Someone asked if there has ever been anybody with the sound of Maynard. The short answer to that is...NO! It's not just the high notes. There are other guys who do that to a degree. It's the incredible huge powerful sound that Maynard had, and the beauty, and musicality, and phrasing. He could also play great jazz. I heard him play with Clifford Brown once, in the 1950's. No disrespect to Brown, but Maynard blew him out of the room.

  • WOAAAA STOP RIGHT THERE!!!!! what an stupid comentary....i love maynard and arturo an also every good player....and believe me..in the land of improvisation...i mean a real improvisation of bebop...maynard or arturo has nothing to do with Clifford, and in the high notes and impresive trumpet sound, clifford has nothing to do with maynard and arturo..so..is just a focus thing...you know SORRY BUT IS TRUE!!!

  • I herd Maynard play several times he's the greatest I miss his sound. I was wondering if any one knows of a sound that come close?

  • I do, yes - I know a sound like MFs, but those of us who have heard THE SOUND have vowed NEVER to speak of it...

  • Ah.

    What a guy.

  • dont waste your time try to undertand about The king Maynard, just enjoy his gift for us.

  • I met Maynard a fews years back. It was nice to know that the idol of my youth is also a super nice guy. Arturo may be younger and stronger but Maynard will always be the KING.

  • No one on the planet could ever play the way he did and no one will ever be able to touch him. No one.

  • Wish the video had been better, but just listening to the great Maynard Ferguson, who plays just as well when he is doing the slow part of a balad as on those top notes -- makes up for everything else! . . . jenny in goosebumps

  • this is an amazing trumpet player

  • Oh, this is Maynard Ferguson playing this! I couldn't tell from the video!(HAHAHA) Maynard rules!

  • arturo is losing his chops after using so much force all his life. maynard tops

  • i agree!

  • there is no way anyone could play anything better then maynard

  • haha what yall talkin about.. this is hi def picture quality!

  • Great Audio, but the video is pretty bad - reminds me of some dodgy 70's porn on that 8mm cine - happy days

  • That was pretty much note for note the same interpretation I have on recording of this. It's amazing to hear how much better Maynard plays this chart than anyone else.

  • You don't think Arturo plays it better?

  • Arturo is good. NO doubt in my mind about that...BUT!--Maynard plays with way more intensity and spirit.. ==>[IMO]<==

  • I wouldn't go as far to say he plays with more spirit than Arturo. He does play with more intensity, but..

  • hey irek... i don't think so, arturo play more accurately no doubt about it, but arturo play three days with feeling and one like angry with the instrument, you know ,you need to play with good interpretation like the opera artist, otherwise , why is this for? to prove the world ''im the best scream player'' i dont think so, i was in one arturo concert and in a maynard concert, and believe me, maynard touch my heart, and arturo was like mad all the time.

  • Ya, I think you said it about right. It all depends on Arturo's attitude. I have Arturo twice, and both concerts were totally different experiences. Maynard is the man.

  • This is a great recording. Trumpet players can play high but can they nail it like that on a balad day after day like maynard? with that feeling? don't think so!

  • Maynard was not always tipsy on performances, it was just a great player with great techniques. On trumpetstuff you can find a beter recording.

    RIP

  • was this camara the same one used to film the moon landings in 1969? same quality.

  • The moon landing looked like high-def compared to this. How can the audio be so good and the video be so bad? Oh well, Maynard rocks. RIP man.

  • Worth sitting through the horrible video quality for the great audio. What a great performance!!

  • Raul... I'm sure the Heavenly band is enjoying your sound up there also ...thanks for all the good listening times ....your memory will never pass away....

  • So were many of Sinatra's best live performances... Just gotta keep a balance... we all have good nights and bad nights on the road... Classic chart and MF played the Sh*T out of it! So much classier than the "Disco Version"...

  • MF is always tipsy when he performs. that's where he get all his powers when playing his trumpet. it's a different feeling when you play when your drunk (if you can control yourself like MF).

R.I.P. MF. Thanks for the screaming notes.

  • Oh wow!! Maynard Ferguson is my main Trumpet man. I didn't know he passed away last month... BUMMER!! Cheers MF, thanks for the Music!

  • Must be a lil' tipsy from that Czech wine he took a sip of just before beginning Maria. Yeow, this arrangement sound good.

R.I.P. MF. Thank you for inspiring me during my trumpet playing years.

  • Different interpretation, eh? MF looks a bit tipsy?

Nevertheless, tremendous playing. My personal MF favorite song! RIP MF
