Why is everyone fighting about who the best is? The season is over, and all the contestants (who would probably prefer to be called 'musicians') are moving on and doing their own things. Why can't we? Can't we just pick our favorites and support them, rather than try to convince others that ours is the best? You may have pent up rage over why yours went home when someone else didn't. But attacking ppl on youtube isn't going to change anything, except by making other fans angry. Just support the
Lauren has a beautifull voice. However, she really sounds 5x better in the country genre. She doesn't sound special at all belting out pop ballads. Hey I love Reba Mcentire, but she would sound pretty awful singing "Moanin" or any James Durbin song. I think Lauren has potential to have long and successful country career. Lauren does go off pitch alot, needs to work on that .. Haley has the richest tone of all, in my personal opinion. Thia probably has the best voice and broadest range of all.
@gatarharo ALL THREE GIRLS, PIA, THIA AND LAUREN "TOO" reallly rocked this song, so that it sounded better than the original. Lauren did a fabulous job on the lead. Great teamwork. All three have great voices.
@mountainblue1000 So well stated mountain blue! Haley is a medicore vocalist/ narrow genre. Lauren and Pia are so superior, but Haley's "machine" of crazed/highly organized cultists managed to kick every other female vocalist to the curb - except for Lauren, and they are furious about it. (Remember how Haley smiled when Pia was kicked off, and was so angry and stunned when Lauren won?) Now Lauren and Pia are shining, w/ Lauren my personal fav, so inspirational/can sing anything/beautiful tone.
@mrgez100 Well she provides that rich low harmony, and can't you tell her tone sticks out when they are harmonizing...and loved 2:28. She was one of the front runners after Top 12 girls night. Bad song choices and something just made her lose her confidence after the top 24 night...let to the decline of her popularity. What a Wonderful World during Hollywood week...divine.
Lauren, you were BLAZING here! Keep staying ON FIRE, in voice/performance in all of your song choice/ keep accenting those notes with full out passion/ interpretation in all of your songs. Let your star blast forth and keep working that stage!. You ARE REALLY SHINING HERE!. You are YOU - your own fabulous singer/performer with your own style that comes through when you LET IT RIP, AND GIVE 100%. Continue to be the STAR THAT YOU R! What a great job! Luv it!
I'm getting so tired of people arguing about lauren's range and Pia's range.Singing is not about who can sing the highest or lowest note. This is starting to get very annoying.
@mountainblue1000 ok, if you want to call me a moron thats fine. I was only saying that Pia has more range and a better voice. Why is that such a big deal? And before you give me another snarky comment, let me tell you that I do not dislike Lauren. She is my second favorite girl. All I was saying is that Pia has a prettier voice and more range. How is that a big deal?
& quite frankly, the only reason why I even addressed the whole Randy Jackson thing in the first place was to prove to you that he is by no means "all-knowing"-- which, to be honest, I thought was pretty much common knowledge at this point. I'm honestly shocked by anyone giving Randy so much credibility in this day and age. Sure, he's an established musician with quite an impressive resume, but he is NOT versed in the extreme technicalities of singing AT ALL.
Listen to Lauren attempt to belt out Eb in full voice during that Carrie Underwood cover ("Flat On The Floor") at the bridge, when it goes "I aint gonna raise my body til there AINT no sign, til there AINT no sign, til there AINT no sign).....listen to how SCRATCHY and brittle her voice got on those notes lmao. Also her "DOOOONT. MESSSS AROUUUUND" at the end of "Trouble"...scratchy, brittle, unsustained. Now THAT is what it sounds like for a note to be "out of someone's range." :)
@MyGuitarman18 Yup, I'll go on record as saying that I know a SHITLOAD more than Randy Jackson where vocal pedagogy is concerned. EASILY. Randy has made more erroneous statements this season ALONE than I can even count. Yes, he's a MUSICIAN (a bassist) but that doesn't mean he knows jack about VOCAL pedagogy. Everything that I've stated in regards of music theory and vocal pedagogy in this discussion is 100% fact. NOT opinion.
Once again, how can a D5 (the highest note in Haley's performance of Earth Song) be out of her range when she's gone half an octave higher (that's 4 FULL steps) in full voice alone, and more than an OCTAVE higher (that's over 8 FULL steps) in head voice? Why do you want to keep embarrassing yourself like this???
@mellynumerounoo Are you dense... I repeat... Haley could not even sing the D5 without screaming so why even mention any notes higher than that with regard to Haley? U R the one who is embarassing yourself.
@MyGuitarman18 No, but you've proven yourself to be more than dense throughout this entire conversation. If a growled D5 was "out of her range," then why is it that she's able to go half an octave higher than that in FULL VOICE alone without growl? If you were capable of deductive reasoning, you'd realize that your claim is laughable, because if it was out of her range, how would she be able to stretch her belt voice half an octave beyond that, without "growling"? -slaps head-
Like I said, Haley only GROWLS for stylistic effect. Yet, it may occasionally give the illusion that she's "screaming", but it's obvious that she doesn't NEED to do it when you hear her belting crystal-clear notes in the mid 5th octave with no growl whatsoever. Haley can belt up to a G# in full voice with extreme clarity. Lauren can't even belt above a C# in full voice with extreme clarity. Her upper register is SEVERELY limited.
A C#, IS, however, at the top of Lauren's belting range. That's why every note she tries to belt out ABOVE C# is strained, weak, and completely unsustained. Even in the "Anyway" performance, you could tell the C# belt was a bit out of Lauren's comfort zone. And don't even get me started on her C#s in "The Climb," which were GHASTLY! Talk about flat. The last C# that Haley belts in "Nothing" ("when darling it's IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII") has NO growl and SHITS on Lauren's belted C# in "Anyway."
@mellynumerounoo Lauren's C# in Anyway was soaring and it was not strained. This was her top performance. Haley had to growl out her C# in her "Nothing" song, b'c she could not get the note out any other way. Haley had to push out the C# with a growl in order to belt it. When Haley does not growl she falls flat and is really boring - ie the Earth Song...
@MyGuitarman18 Why are you so tone-deaf?? Haley's sustained C# belt in "I Who Have Nothing" (at the end, when she sings "when darling, it's IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII") had ZERO growl whatsoever. It was 100% crystal clear. and yes, Lauren's C# in "Anyway" ("I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE") did briefly fall flat towards the tail end of the note. And let's not talk about the ones in "The Climb," which fell COMPLETELY flat.
& the reason why "Unchained Melody" is ever brought up is simply because it's the ultiimate tell-tale example of just how limited Lauren's vocal range is. Why even bother singing that song if you can't hit the money note toward the end? Such an underwhelming SNOOZEFEST of a performance! & again, don't even get me started on Lauren's Carrie Underwood attempts. I think with her vocal capabilities, channeling Taylor Swift would be a much safer bet. ;)
Wow, Lauren couldn't even sing the song in the original key. A Katy Perry song! wtf?? I just watched the performance from last night, and she had to change the key during the chorus cuz it was too high for her. What a joke. Why wouldn't they just have Pia sing the tough parts? No need to make poor Lauren embarrass herself by struggling to sing a Katy Perry song.
Haley actually reaches her HIGHEST notes without any growl at all, so there's your proof that she only uses it for stylistic effect. Her vocal range FAR surpasses Lauren's, and that can actually be anchored down to factual evidence. It's not EVEN an opinion; it's a straight-up fact. I'll concede that her tone is most DEFINITELY an acquired taste, but from a technical standpoint, she certainly SLAYS Miss Alaina. -nods-
@mellynumerounoo Ok - Haley did not growl her highest notes/Haley SCREAMED them b/c they were out of her range and that high range would not take H's growl..Haley's highest notes were in the Eath Song and Randy had it right - Haley SCREAMED these notes,..The high notes in Haley's "Nothing" song are ALL growled. The highest note in "Nothing", is the same high note in "Anyway" on which Lauren soars with golden tones and richness and full out VOICE. You Halines are mental. What RU doing here?
@MyGuitarman18 LMAO. This post just goes to show how damn ignorant you are! Haley's highest notes were in "Earth Song"?? Really? The highest Haley went in that performance was a freaking D5! Her highest belt is a G#, which is almost half an OCTAVE higher than that! You just proved how clueless you truly are. and her highest in head voice (which Lauren doesn't even HAVE a head voice) is an E6. FAIL again!
The highest note in IWHN is a C#, which is CHILD'S PLAY for Haley.
@mellynumerounoo Sure, whatever, throw around all the musical notation you want. We heard what we heard and you failed to adress Haley's SCREAMING in the Earth Song b/c it was out of her range, as Randy rightly pointed out b/c H could not sing it without screaming. So if the Earth Song was NOT the higest notes for Haley and Haley had to screeech and scream on these notes, I would be terrified to hear her higher notes (but the H dogs will come running for these, just like they do for her growl).
@MyGuitarman18 Randy knows absolutely nothing about vocal pedagogy, though. That's why he's constantly ridiculed by people that actually DO study voice whenever he croaks out one of his laughable pseudo wannabe "vocal critiques." Like when he said that Jacob Lusk's G#5 note was the "highest in the history of the show," when it wasn't even the highest of this SEASON. LMFAO. You obviously no nothing about music theory, vocal anatomy, OR vocal pedagogy if you're seriously quoting RANDY now.
@mellynumerounoo All of you Haliens always declare yourself to be the only people who know anything about music. I happen to be a musician, and ppl who brag about "theory" (like U) are usually just "by the book" musicians with no real talent/ perfect ptich/ musicality. The woods are full of "so called" musicians like you. Randy has worked with the greats, including MJ, and Randy is a musician in his bones, blood cells and the fiber of his being. So now you know more than Randy? UR so arrogant.
@mellynumerounoo You are gagging on your so called "pedagogy"... what you really are is pedantic. Randy posssess perfect ptich, inner musicality, great musical taste with respect to vocal quality, interpretation, phrasing, and performance ability. Enough.
@MyGuitarman18 That's nice, but Randy still doesn't know the first thing about vocal pedagogy. I'd even say that his knowledge of music theory is lacking as well, if his claim that Jacob Lusk hit the "highest note in the history of Idol" was INDEED serious. That was just a hilariously outrageous assertion, even for his dimwitted standards. If he had "perfect pitch," then he would never have even THOUGHT to say something so ludicrous, much less ACTUALLY say it!
@mellynumerounoo You see - you just proved my point. Who cares about theory? What mattered was that Jacob Lusk's performance of "God Bless the Child" was the greatest performance ever rendered on American Idol - it was pure greatness. Jacob went beyond the beyond in that performance, every note was perfect and he gave so much of himself he collapsed..Randy came out and said it., but you are only concerned about your "pedagogy" not muscial genius which DOES NOT REQUIRE PEDAGOGY YOU PENCIL HEAD!!
@MyGuitarman18 Wow, you really are a special one, aren't you? Everything you just stated is nothing more than OPINION. I'm dealing with FACTS here. That's why I chose to address Randy's ERRONEOUS claim about Jacob's note at the end being "the highest note in the history of Idol." His statement was QUANTIFIABLY false. That's the difference between a FACT and an OPINION. Facts can be anchored down to quantifiable evidence. Opinions ultimately hold no water.
@mellynumerounoo Record sales are based the OPINION of the public, my friend, as to who has the beautiful voice/ winning, good, sincere personality/performance ability/the total package. The public can objectively/quantifiably determine true artistry based on their reaction to artists that move/inspire them. That is why the AMERICAN PUBLIC voteed for Lauren. I am glad you can READ an Asharp from an Eflat, but could you perfect pitch every note on the key board? Based on your comments, I doubt it.
Siobhan's "House Of The Rising Sun" was a snoozefest. Haley injected soul and grit into it. But yeah, Haley and Siobhan BOTH can definitely sing circles around Lauren's monotonous ass voice. As I said, Lauren can't even compare to Kellie Pickler in terms of technical skill. I still cannot believe that she chose to sing "Unchained Melody" KNOWING that her voice wasn't capable of reaching the big climax. It's such a pointless song to sing if you can't hit that note.
@mellynumerounoo Funny you should call Siobhan's performance a "snoozefest" b/c all I could think of while listening to Haley's version was "please let it be over soon", it was so trite. Lauren's voice is passionate/ full of verve/ Lauren has the most beautiful tone in Season 10. You Haliens really have to unchain yourselves from your tired "Unchained Melody" refains. It only shows how desperate you are to try to discredit Lauren b/c she is so talented/inspirational/beautiful. Pls get a life!
@MyGuitarman18 -shrug- I guess there's no accounting for the poor taste of Lauren Alaina fans. After all, listen to their favorite's "vocal skills"....you'd think that people with such low standards would be queefing over the outstanding vocal talent offered by girls like Pia and Haley.
If you thought that Haley's "House Of The Rising Sun" was boring, then I really must wonder how you made it through ANY performance by Lauren Alaina. That's some brilliant freaking irony right there lol.
Don't get me wrong,I like Lauren, but her voice is much better suited for music like this-pop-than country. I'm sure her country music will undoubtedly cross over to pop radio stations because she is pop/country, but I wonder if she'd ever consider recording a full-on pop song.
Lauren, you were wonderful here! Keep staying ON FIRE, in voice and performance in all of your song choices, keep punching the notes with accent/passion/ interpretation as you do. Let your star blast forth!! keep working that stage, interpreting the music. And remember - people have compared you to Carrie and Kelly - but most of all - You are YOU - your own fabulous singer/performer with your own style that comes through when you LET IT RIP, AND GIVE 100%. Continue to be the STAR THAT YOU R!
Well If you guys want to talk TONE, it's Thia all the way man...and her style - I mean, I can't believe she did Selena Gomez...she comes off far more sophisticated than that. She should be doing Adele, or Michael Buble, or something. ah well.
Haley can sing the blues, R&B, jazz, country, classic rock, etc. She covered all of those genres on the show, and pulled each off convincingly. The only genre that Lauren is capable of singing is country. & maybe a generic pop song. Her voice is VERY generic. She's limited in MORE than just range. She's limited period. Pia and Haley smoke her. & she really needs to stop trying to be Carrie Underwood, because she doesn't have even half the voice to pull it off.
@mellynumerouno Why do all haley fans hate on lauren? It doesnt matter what you say laurens "basic" voice beat haley's. She got second!! Lauren has a lot more fans than haley. Lauren knew she was born to be a country singer and she stuck with it. I also hear her on the radio EVERYDAY. Lauren is going to be a country superstar and continue to kick haley's ass. So i guess your jealousy is going to continue. :)
@mellynumerounoo Haley's rendition of House of the Rising Sun on tour was a YAAWWWWNNNN, b/c w/out the growl to punch out the notes, it is like many have been saying - Haley does not have much of a real voice.. Siobhan Magnus' rendition was so superior to Haley's. Lauren has rich golden tones, soars on the top notes w/out any growl and delivers the song with personality, excitement and, most of all, WITH VOICE. This is a tough song to sing, and all these girls rocked it - Lauren most of all!
@sfaster Stop stalking me all the time b/c I support Lauren. You, self admittedly, only live to worship Haley, have falsely and repeatedly posed as a representative of the Suddeth family when UR a leader of the Haliens, openly and admittedly looking to spam anyone who supports Lauren. You Halines really have to let go of your Lauren "fixation." Please get the metal help that you need, leave this site and go listen to a Haley video, b/c that is what does it for you (as you so often declare).
@MyGuitarman18 Lauren sounded like she was straining her voice a lot to reach those high notes during the chorus. It's not a surprise though, considering how limited her vocal range is. They should have put Pia on lead, since her voice can actually handle the chorus (EASILY, too).
The growling is just Haley's personal style. But she's capable of reaching the notes without growl. Lauren isn't capable of reaching the notes that Haley hits with OR without growl. That's what's sad.
@mountainblue1000 Haley's tone is far more unique than Lauren's, her range is FAR wider, and she's also FAR more versatile as a vocalist. Lauren's highest note in full voice is an E, which she is SO hoarse and powerless on, and she can't even sustain it. Haley's highest in full voice is a G#, which was crystal clear and a LOT stronger than Lauren's E. Also, Haley actually has a head voice. Lauren has no head voice, which is why she DODGED the note in "Unchained Melody."
Of course Lauren could never compare to Carrie Underwood. Carrie actually has range, and could do more with her voice at age 12 than Lauren can do now at 16. STOP USING LAUREN'S AGE AS AN EXCUSE! Why is it that Lauren totally dodged that high note in "Unchained Melody," while Carrie nailed that note effortlessly at an even younger age than Lauren? You see, it's not about age, it's about natural-born talent. & Lauren's isn't even a PATCH on Carrie's.
@mountainblue1000 Lauren's tone is passable at best. She sounds like a cross between Miley Cyrus and Kellie Pickler. She has a basic-ass voice. Sure, she sounds nice when she actually stays within her VERY limited vocal range, but that's not enough to make her a GREAT singer by any means. Her tone and vocal style are ZzZzZz. LOL @ her "range" being outstanding. She even struggled to sing the simple notes in Miley Cyrus' "The Climb"...and don't get me started on her LAUGHABLE Carrie U. attempts.
Pia is from the East Coast and Haley is from the West Coast. As great as they both are, they had a very slim chance of winning the competition due to that fact. COUNTRY is the "in" thing right now. So no, Lauren and Scotty being the final 2 has NOTHING to do with their "talent" and EVERYTHING to do with the fact that America just looooooves their country bumpkins. & no, I have no problem with country in general, because Carrie Underwood is fucking AMAZING. Lauren and Scotty are not.
Man, what's with the Lauren this, Pia that feud? You wanna know what I think? They're both great. Pia has the best range, and is technically solid...but there's nothing really special about the tone of her voice...Lauren's tone is more special and is prettier to listen to.
@mountainblue1000 It's not a big deal..? She's great, I just think she has a lot she can improve and work on with her voice. Some of her technique doesn't sound too healthy, she needs to learn a more proper way.
Everyone keeps comparing Lauren and Pia.I do agree that Pia has the larger range, but in lauren's defense Pia has taken years of voice lessons. In fact, she used to be a voice teacher.Pia is very good with her placement when she sings.Correct placement allows you to go higher and have a wider range.
i hear LAUREN's songs every night before going to bed on my small mp3.Her music make me happy all time.so she is the best in my opinion...........Love LAUREN forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
All three are beautiful and amazing singers -all have powerful voice quality but I must say that what I truly admire most is the ELEGANCE and GRACE of THIA MEGIA which is always there even if she sings an upbeat tune. I hope she'll be able to sing songs which would really showcase her musicale brilliance and power. Her types of songs will last a lifetime. Given the chance, she will be phenomenal. She's an amazing down-to-earth,unassuming 16 year old.Every Mum's pride:-)Soar high,Thia!!Cheers
Pia obviously has a wider range than Lauren & she can hit them high notes better than her. Even Lauren knows that, remember during the live chat, she was like "If I buy the Pia sandwich, will I be able to hit those notes that you hit?"Pia didn't like showed off or anything, she just simply smiled and laughed. Similarly, Pia (and Thia) can't 'show off' or overpower Lauren in this performance, because it's supposed to be centred around Lauren.
Bottom line is, they are all great in their own ways.
I don't understand why there is so much hate from a select few. I think they all have their unique qualities that shine. You have your right to your own opinion, but as my grandfather once said, if you don't have nothing nice to say , don't say anything at all. Thanks for posting the video :)
Lauren was amazing. She knows how to entertain and draw in an audience. Let's see only girl left standing. Her album is #6 on top Country albums. She and Scotty alone had 122.4 million votes. End the fussing. Like Haley she is on another video.
I read an article where lauren's voice was having problems again. She needs to just chill for a little while. She could damage her voice. Also, i support all of the idols, yall should too! I will be buying pia's single tuesday and i have already bought laurens and scotty's. Let's not hate!
Seriously if you can't appreciate the quality and tone of Thia's voice, there's something wrong with you. It's so distinct and pretty...just lIke HER!
So yes, both Pia AND Haley smoke Lauren vocally. Lauren has one of the most limited vocal ranges in the history of Idol to be quite frank. How embarrassing that she chose to sing "Unchained Melody" and couldn't even hit the climax of the song; she totally dodged it. Even Kellie Pickler was able to hit that note! Even a 12 year old Carrie Underwood was able to hit that note! So don't you DARE use Lauren's age as an excuse. She's just a VERY limited singer. That's all. Face the facts please.
@mellynumerounoo i dont think it matters who has the better voice..Lauren seems to be doing pretty well. I hear her song everyday on the radio. It really just depends on what kind of style you like. Im a fan of country music so i love laurens voice. I love pia's voice too. There isnt too many like her voice out there anymore. i think haley screams when she sings and i find it annoying..But thats just me :)
@mellynumerounoo we shouldn't compare Lauren to Pia and Haley when all three are obviously in different genres! "limited vocal range" ??? wow thats just harsh, a true artist is all about the quality of TONE not range. lets face it, there is a significant reason why Lauren (and Scotty) were in TOP TWO so just suck it and move on. stop hating! u should be ashamed of putting down a 16 year old like that.
@emkarthur I'm not being harsh, I'm being practical and objective. She is VERY limited in terms of actual vocal ABILITY. Sure, she has a pleasant tone and can sound rather strong at times, but there's not much she can do with her voice. Pia and Haley both slay her in that respect. Yes, the "significant reason" behind Scotty and Lauren making the Final 2 is that they're both COUNTRY. They also both have the luxury of being from Middle America.
@mellynumerounoo you obviously have never heard Lauren Alaina perform LIVE so you're saying such stuff about her it makes me shake my head, sigh... "VERY limited in terms of actual vocal ABILITY" that line makes no sense at all, so when the legendary STEVEN TYLER said she's THE ONE u mean he was bullshitting? there is no point in a debate here because you are simply blinded by your "fangirling" of Hayley. the mark of a true artist is the TONE and Lauren has got IT.
@emkarthur Uh...I've heard Lauren Alaina perform live as many times as you have, trust me. When did Steven Tyler ever say that Lauren has an impressive vocal range? Oh wait, that's right, he didn't. So explain to me how my MATTER-OF-FACT statement was "wrong" again? Yes, Lauren has a very limited voice range. Oh by the way, the sky is also blue. Are you going to argue with me about that clear-cut fact as well?
@emkarthur Tone is subjective. Range is not. As far as I'm concerned, Lauren's tone is extremely unremarkable and run-of-the-mill. That part is my opinion. However, when I say that her vocal range is extremely limited, particularly in the upper register, it is a straight-up FACT that cannot be contested on sufficient grounds. It would be one thing if she had a limited range and showcased the best of her voice WITHIN her extremely limited range. But she constantly tries to sing ABOVE her range.
@mellynumerounoo ... you are incredibly one-sided in your opinions. with all these arguments with everyone here, aren't you running out of breath by now? i suppose so. give it a rest.
@sfaster FYI, I have rec'd thanks from many Lauren/gen AI fans (who R so on to U) for standing up to U, sfaster/exposing how you troll Lauren's videos,spamming/ thumbs downing pro Lauren comments, or anyone who U see as competition to Haley, b/c UR such a sicko for Haley. U asked "melly" to attack Lauren this tme, so now UR here, b/c melly has been so dissed. Go back to Haley's HIDEOS/ enjoy your single handed relationship. Stop stalking on Lauren videos/go see your shrink as soon as possible.
@sfaster Opinions can be anything. Saying it has "zero substance" is YOUR opinion. Unless this person is claiming to know facts, their opinion is theirs.
@mountainblue1000 Wow, can you be any more ignorant? Haley is a FAR SUPERIOR vocalist to Lauren's 2-note singing ass. Haley actually has RANGE. Not only does she have range, she has VERSATILITY too. Check out my video of Haley's vocal range. Then check out the video I will be uploading shortly of LAUREN'S vocal range. I have documented EVERY single note that both of them are capable of hitting. You will see how much WIDER Haley's range is than Lauren's. It's not opinion, it's FACT.
Lauren can barely even belt a C# without her voice getting all hoarse and strained. Pia can sing that note easily, as it's actually SMACK in the middle of her range. It's toward the END of Lauren's unfortunately. Lauren has a nice voice, but come on...she's NOT a powerhouse, and she doesn't have the kind of impressive vocal skills that someone like Pia or even HALEY have. Lauren is very very liimited in terms of technical skill.
@mellynumerounoo Ever think that that's just the way lauren sings? Her voice has a little raspiness to it and scratchiness, and that's what made her unique. Are you a better singer than lauren? Yeah. I though not.
@ChillPhil95 Nope, I'm not a better singer than Lauren. But you know who surely is? Pia.Freaking.Toscano. Please don't think for a second that Pia couldn't have vocally screwed Lauren with a spiked dildo if she had wanted. But no, she has class and didn't want to tak away Lauren's shine. The performance was BUILT AROUND Lauren. That's why Pia kept it cute. But you best believe that, if she wanted to, your precious Lauren wouldn't have even been HEARD. :)
@mellynumerounoo Yes, Pia is a better singer than Lauren. Pia has more range. I am a huge Pia fan, and I was devastated when she got the boot. I'm just saying that Lauren is unique, even thoug she can;t hit the notes that Pia does. Don't hate Lauren. That's all im asking.
@mellynumerounoo Lauren's great but I agree. She could use a lot of work with her voice. I mean she's only 16 so I'm sure she'll improve over the years.
@mountainblue1000 Uhhh. A "high" note for Lauren is a "low" note for Pia. That's how much wider Pia's range is than Lauren's. Would you like me to EMBARRASS Lauren by making a video comparison of both their ranges? Considering that I specialize in music theory and actually KNOW specifically the notes that they hit, I'd think you wouldn't want me to embarrass your idol in that way. and Martina's voice is "thicker" than Pia's, but it has HALF the range.
ughhh...Guess the rumors were right, she's having major problems with her vocal chords. They're gonna be singing every night, so hopefully she doesn't lose her voice. I think she's supposed to record over the summer.
@claymangarrett Her mic was definitely louder, and/or Pia was just holding back, because Pia can vocally DESTROY that girl without even trying. Lauren struggles to hit notes that Pia could easily hit even in her sleep. Don't for a SECOND believe that Lauren can overpower Pia unless Pia was kind enough to let her lmao.
@claymangarrett Well it was set up with Lauren as the lead so yes she controlled the song. I am sure they rehearsed it many times to make sure Pia and Thia did not sing over Lauren and as friends and professionals now the other tow made sure not to let that happen.
I hate this!
Good now I got your attention

@akatzie24 what voices? if your talking about overall appeal to me... i agree but i would switch naima and pia leave the rest.
if your just talking about voices i would put haley and thia as a tie and leave the rest. =)

I'm getting so tired of people arguing about lauren's range and Pia's range.Singing is not about who can sing the highest or lowest note. This is starting to get very annoying.
jasmine178100 7 months ago 3
@mountainblue1000 ok, if you want to call me a moron thats fine. I was only saying that Pia has more range and a better voice. Why is that such a big deal? And before you give me another snarky comment, let me tell you that I do not dislike Lauren. She is my second favorite girl. All I was saying is that Pia has a prettier voice and more range. How is that a big deal?
ChillPhil95 7 months ago

NOT opinion.
mellynumerounoo 7 months ago
Once again, how can a D5 (the highest note in Haley's performance of Earth Song) be out of her range when she's gone half an octave higher (that's 4 FULL steps) in full voice alone, and more than an OCTAVE higher (that's over 8 FULL steps) in head voice? Why do you want to keep embarrassing yourself like this???
mellynumerounoo 7 months ago
@mellynumerounoo Are you dense... I repeat... Haley could not even sing the D5 without screaming so why even mention any notes higher than that with regard to Haley? U R the one who is embarassing yourself.
MyGuitarman18 7 months ago
@MyGuitarman18 No, but you've proven yourself to be more than dense throughout this entire conversation. If a growled D5 was "out of her range," then why is it that she's able to go half an octave higher than that in FULL VOICE alone without growl? If you were capable of deductive reasoning, you'd realize that your claim is laughable, because if it was out of her range, how would she be able to stretch her belt voice half an octave beyond that, without "growling"? -slaps head-
mellynumerounoo 7 months ago
This has been flagged as spam show
Like I said, Haley only GROWLS for stylistic effect. Her upper register is SEVERELY limited.
mellynumerounoo 7 months ago
A C#, IS, however, at the top of Lauren's belting range. That's why every note she tries to belt out ABOVE C# is strained, weak, and completely unsustained. Even in the "Anyway" performance, you could tell the C# belt was a bit out of Lauren's comfort zone. And don't even get me started on her C#s in "The Climb," which were GHASTLY! Talk about flat. The last C# that Haley belts in "Nothing" ("when darling it's IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII") has NO growl and SHITS on Lauren's belted C# in "Anyway."
mellynumerounoo 7 months ago
@mellynumerounoo Lauren's C# in Anyway was soaring and it was not strained. This was her top performance. Haley had to growl out her C# in her "Nothing" song, b'c she could not get the note out any other way. Haley had to push out the C# with a growl in order to belt it. When Haley does not growl she falls flat and is really boring - ie the Earth Song...
MyGuitarman18 7 months ago
@MyGuitarman18 Why are you so tone-deaf?? Haley's sustained C# belt in "I Who Have Nothing" (at the end, when she sings "when darling, it's IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII") had ZERO growl whatsoever. It was 100% crystal clear. and yes, Lauren's C# in "Anyway" ("I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE") did briefly fall flat towards the tail end of the note. And let's not talk about the ones in "The Climb," which fell COMPLETELY flat.
mellynumerounoo 7 months ago
& the reason why "Unchained Melody" is ever brought up is simply because it's the ultiimate tell-tale example of just how limited Lauren's vocal range is. Why even bother singing that song if you can't hit the money note toward the end? Such an underwhelming SNOOZEFEST of a performance! & again, don't even get me started on Lauren's Carrie Underwood attempts. I think with her vocal capabilities, channeling Taylor Swift would be a much safer bet. ;)
mellynumerounoo 7 months ago

Wow, Lauren couldn't even sing the song in the original key. A Katy Perry song! wtf?? I just watched the performance from last night, and she had to change the key during the chorus cuz it was too high for her. What a joke. Why wouldn't they just have Pia sing the tough parts? No need to make poor Lauren embarrass herself by struggling to sing a Katy Perry song.
mellynumerounoo 7 months ago
Haley actually reaches her HIGHEST notes without any growl at all, so there's your proof that she only uses it for stylistic effect. Her vocal range FAR surpasses Lauren's, and that can actually be anchored down to factual evidence. It's not EVEN an opinion; it's a straight-up fact. I'll concede that her tone is most DEFINITELY an acquired taste, but from a technical standpoint, she certainly SLAYS Miss Alaina. -nods-
mellynumerounoo 7 months ago
@mellynumerounoo Ok - Haley did not growl her highest notes/Haley SCREAMED them b/c they were out of her range and that high range would not take H's growl..Haley's highest notes were in the Eath Song and Randy had it right - Haley SCREAMED these notes,..The high notes in Haley's "Nothing" song are ALL growled. The highest note in "Nothing", is the same high note in "Anyway" on which Lauren soars with golden tones and richness and full out VOICE. You Halines are mental. What RU doing here?
MyGuitarman18 7 months ago
@MyGuitarman18 LMAO. This post just goes to show how damn ignorant you are! Haley's highest notes were in "Earth Song"?? Really? The highest Haley went in that performance was a freaking D5! Her highest belt is a G#, which is almost half an OCTAVE higher than that! You just proved how clueless you truly are. and her highest in head voice (which Lauren doesn't even HAVE a head voice) is an E6. FAIL again!
The highest note in IWHN is a C#, which is CHILD'S PLAY for Haley.
mellynumerounoo 7 months ago

LMFAO. You obviously no nothing about music theory, vocal anatomy, OR vocal pedagogy if you're seriously quoting RANDY now.
mellynumerounoo 7 months ago

Enough.
MyGuitarman18 7 months ago
@MyGuitarman18 That's nice, but Randy still doesn't know the first thing about vocal pedagogy. I'd even say that his knowledge of music theory is lacking as well, if his claim that Jacob Lusk hit the "highest note in the history of Idol" was INDEED serious. That was just a hilariously outrageous assertion, even for his dimwitted standards. If he had "perfect pitch," then he would never have even THOUGHT to say something so ludicrous, much less ACTUALLY say it!
mellynumerounoo 7 months ago
@mellynumerounoo You see - you just proved my point. Who cares about theory? What mattered was that Jacob Lusk's performance of "God Bless the Child" was the greatest performance ever rendered on American Idol - it was pure greatness. Jacob went beyond the beyond in that performance, every note was perfect and he gave so much of himself he collapsed..Randy came out and said it., but you are only concerned about your "pedagogy" not muscial genius which DOES NOT REQUIRE PEDAGOGY YOU PENCIL HEAD!!
MyGuitarman18 7 months ago
@MyGuitarman18 Wow, you really are a special one, aren't you? Everything you just stated is nothing more than OPINION. I'm dealing with FACTS here. That's why I chose to address Randy's ERRONEOUS claim about Jacob's note at the end being "the highest note in the history of Idol." His statement was QUANTIFIABLY false. That's the difference between a FACT and an OPINION. Facts can be anchored down to quantifiable evidence. Opinions ultimately hold no water.
mellynumerounoo 7 months ago
@mellynumerounoo Record sales are based the OPINION of the public, my friend, as to who has the beautiful voice/ winning, good, sincere personality/performance ability/the total package. The public can objectively/quantifiably determine true artistry based on their reaction to artists that move/inspire them. That is why the AMERICAN PUBLIC voteed for Lauren. I am glad you can READ an Asharp from an Eflat, but could you perfect pitch every note on the key board? Based on your comments, I doubt it.
MyGuitarman18 7 months ago
Siobhan's "House Of The Rising Sun" was a snoozefest. Haley injected soul and grit into it. But yeah, Haley and Siobhan BOTH can definitely sing circles around Lauren's monotonous ass voice. As I said, Lauren can't even compare to Kellie Pickler in terms of technical skill. I still cannot believe that she chose to sing "Unchained Melody" KNOWING that her voice wasn't capable of reaching the big climax. It's such a pointless song to sing if you can't hit that note.
mellynumerounoo 7 months ago
@mellynumerounoo Funny you should call Siobhan's performance a "snoozefest" b/c all I could think of while listening to Haley's version was "please let it be over soon", it was so trite. Lauren's voice is passionate/ full of verve/ Lauren has the most beautiful tone in Season 10. You Haliens really have to unchain yourselves from your tired "Unchained Melody" refains. It only shows how desperate you are to try to discredit Lauren b/c she is so talented/inspirational/beautiful. Pls get a life!
MyGuitarman18 7 months ago
@MyGuitarman18 -shrug- I guess there's no accounting for the poor taste of Lauren Alaina fans. After all, listen to their favorite's "vocal skills"....you'd think that people with such low standards would be queefing over the outstanding vocal talent offered by girls like Pia and Haley.
If you thought that Haley's "House Of The Rising Sun" was boring, then I really must wonder how you made it through ANY performance by Lauren Alaina. That's some brilliant freaking irony right there lol.

& she really needs to stop trying to be Carrie Underwood, because she doesn't have even half the voice to pull it off.
mellynumerounoo 7 months ago

& Lauren's isn't even a PATCH on Carrie's.
mellynumerounoo 7 months ago

That's all. Face the facts please.
mellynumerounoo 8 months ago
@mellynumerounoo i dont think it matters who has the better voice..Lauren seems to be doing pretty well. I hear her song everyday on the radio. It really just depends on what kind of style you like. Im a fan of country music so i love laurens voice. I love pia's voice too. There isnt too many like her voice out there anymore. i think haley screams when she sings and i find it annoying..But thats just me :)
becclyburn99 8 months ago
@mellynumerounoo we shouldn't compare Lauren to Pia and Haley when all three are obviously in different genres! "limited vocal range" ??? wow thats just harsh, a true artist is all about the quality of TONE not range. lets face it, there is a significant reason why Lauren (and Scotty) were in TOP TWO so just suck it and move on. stop hating! u should be ashamed of putting down a 16 year old like that.
emkarthur 8 months ago
@emkarthur I'm not being harsh, I'm being practical and objective. She is VERY limited in terms of actual vocal ABILITY. Sure, she has a pleasant tone and can sound rather strong at times, but there's not much she can do with her voice. Pia and Haley both slay her in that respect. Yes, the "significant reason" behind Scotty and Lauren making the Final 2 is that they're both COUNTRY. They also both have the luxury of being from Middle America.
mellynumerounoo 8 months ago
@mellynumerounoo you obviously have never heard Lauren Alaina perform LIVE so you're saying such stuff about her it makes me shake my head, sigh... "VERY limited in terms of actual vocal ABILITY" that line makes no sense at all, so when the legendary STEVEN TYLER said she's THE ONE u mean he was bullshitting? there is no point in a debate here because you are simply blinded by your "fangirling" of Hayley. the mark of a true artist is the TONE and Lauren has got IT.
emkarthur 7 months ago 3
@emkarthur Uh...I've heard Lauren Alaina perform live as many times as you have, trust me. When did Steven Tyler ever say that Lauren has an impressive vocal range? Oh wait, that's right, he didn't. So explain to me how my MATTER-OF-FACT statement was "wrong" again? Yes, Lauren has a very limited voice range. Oh by the way, the sky is also blue. Are you going to argue with me about that clear-cut fact as well?
mellynumerounoo 7 months ago
@emkarthur Tone is subjective. Range is not. As far as I'm concerned, Lauren's tone is extremely unremarkable and run-of-the-mill. That part is my opinion. However, when I say that her vocal range is extremely limited, particularly in the upper register, it is a straight-up FACT that cannot be contested on sufficient grounds. It would be one thing if she had a limited range and showcased the best of her voice WITHIN her extremely limited range. But she constantly tries to sing ABOVE her range.
mellynumerounoo 7 months ago

@mellynumerounoo I'm so sorry "melly"................The idiot known as MyGuitarman 18 is so
disliked all around these American Idol videos. She has this thing for Lauren that is psycho crazy.
Even the Lauren fans think it's creepy. Most of the time we all just thumbs down her then check spam.
Her opinions are so biased and have zero substance...................

@MyGuitarman18 Your post just below this proves to Lauren fans you have serious problems.
ATTENTION LAUREN FANS, Please AVOID MyGuitarman18 and I would say Lauren would agree...........
We just need to listen to Lauren Alaina and enjoy!

Lauren is very very liimited in terms of technical skill.
mellynumerounoo 8 months ago

mellynumerounoo 8 months ago
@mellynumerounoo Yes, Pia is a better singer than Lauren. Pia has more range. I am a huge Pia fan, and I was devastated when she got the boot. I'm just saying that Lauren is unique, even thoug she can;t hit the notes that Pia does. Don't hate Lauren. That's all im asking.
ChillPhil95 8 months ago
@ChillPhil95 I don't hate Lauren, I was just pointing out a fact.
mellynumerounoo 8 months ago
@mellynumerounoo Lauren's great but I agree. She could use a lot of work with her voice. I mean she's only 16 so I'm sure she'll improve over the years.

@mountainblue1000 Uhhh. A "high" note for Lauren is a "low" note for Pia. That's how much wider Pia's range is than Lauren's. Would you like me to EMBARRASS Lauren by making a video comparison of both their ranges? Considering that I specialize in music theory and actually KNOW specifically the notes that they hit, I'd think you wouldn't want me to embarrass your idol in that way. and Martina's voice is "thicker" than Pia's, but it has HALF the range.
mellynumerounoo 8 months ago
ughhh...Guess the rumors were right, she's having major problems with her vocal chords. They're gonna be singing every night, so hopefully she doesn't lose her voice. I think she's supposed to record over the summer.

lauren's voice was so much stronger than the others, maybe she was just louder or their mics were down but hshe controlled the song
claymangarrett 8 months ago 2
@claymangarrett Her mic was definitely louder, and/or Pia was just holding back, because Pia can vocally DESTROY that girl without even trying. Lauren struggles to hit notes that Pia could easily hit even in her sleep. Don't for a SECOND believe that Lauren can overpower Pia unless Pia was kind enough to let her lmao.
mellynumerounoo 8 months ago
@claymangarrett Well it was set up with Lauren as the lead so yes she controlled the song. I am sure they rehearsed it many times to make sure Pia and Thia did not sing over Lauren and as friends and professionals now the other tow made sure not to let that happen.
