  • DW LEGENDS... RIP

  • Man, I wish he appeared one last time in Doctor Who before his death. That'll be great to see him with the 11th Doctor!

  • @PercyandDuckfan94 yeah if only he could've made it to the 50th anniversary special next year

  • Truly a tragedy to see them both pass. My heart will forever be with them.

  • You just know when he turned to see sara jane he thought "ok that's not fair, how come you haven't got grey hair".

  • They were already a decade old when I was a little kiddo, but the Fourth Doctor was the one I grew up with, and I was so happy to see Sarah Jane again in the Sarah Jane Adventures. Yes, they were geared towards little kiddies, but I loved seeing her as a mature, strong-willed woman who was less inclined to scream for the doctor.

I had no idea of her cancer until reading about her passing online, and was so shocked and saddened. I hope she passed away knowing she brought joy to so many of us.

  • There as some people who you've never met but who are so important and so loved. For me and many 40 year olds both the wonderful Elizabeth Sladen and Nicholas Courtney are two such people. Their passing has left a hole that can never be filled. We still hold onto and cherish their legacy. RIP Liz and Nick.

  • Wow, sad, both good companions went in 2011. :(

  • We miss you Brigs. *salutes

  • Rest in peace, and thank you both for the fun.

  • What a beautiful, heartwarming scene.

  • the brigiader died in a matt smith episode cannt rember which one

and if i could control who lived and died the nicholas courtney and elisabeth sladen would still be alive

  • @tomtom87483 they mentioned that he died in the episode "the wedding of river song"

  • @Azrael666Azazel

XD, I've seen death before, family my step sister died at age 20...but I'm so sensitive XD That makes me sad. I bet I'd tear up if I saw that episode.

  • @yodagreennutsack Then don't watch The Death Of The Doctor! That made me tear up, & this was BEFORE Elisabeth Sladens death!

  • @tomtom87483 The Wedding of River Song.

  • Oh no! They're both gone? I loved those two. Cancer has got to go! Sad, sad news to find out. I thought Liz was still doing The Sarah Jane Adventures. She sure was great. They both were. Rest in peace. Thank you for keeping all of us company as we grew up. You were great companions both for the Doctors and for dorky viewers like me.

  • I still have no idea who he is, all he is to me is just some guy mentioned in the Wedding of River Song... what's his role with the Doctor?

  • @rowan729 he was a companion to the third and fourth doctor, just like Sarah Jane.

  • @RoboSonic876

He was also so important to him that when he died, EVERY SINGLE INCARNATION of the Doctor attended his funeral. Yes, even the First Doctor.

  • @TheEndlessWarlock Sorry, I'm about to bombard you with a million questons you may not have the answers for, so bare with me...

Wait, when does he die? I thought this was his "final appearance in the doctor who world". And has the doctor done this with any other character? Also, by every single incarnation of the doctor attended, do you just mean 1-11, or literally EVERY SINGLE incarnation? Also, how did Hartnell and Throughton's doctor see his funeral if they never met him?

  • @RoboSonic876

Troughton's Doctor worked with him at least twice, though IDK why Hartnell would go, I just know that he went with Susan before they met Ian Chesterton and Barbara Wright (before the series began) and the Brig would later save Susan from drowning.

Brig's death was confirmed on the Series 6 finale. EVERY SINGLE INCARNATION attended the funeral.

It's on the Wiki. Look it up.

  • @TheEndlessWarlock huh... I still haven't caught up to all of season 6 yet. do they show the funeral scene? I guess not, I dont know how they could pull that off. thanks for the info, friend.

  • @RoboSonic876

Nah they didn't. They just said the Brig is dead and Eleven's big "I don't need to die now" thing breaks down and he realizes his time has come.

IDK where the info comes from that every incarnation of the Doctor attends the funeral, but it's on the Wiki somewhere.

  • @TheEndlessWarlock The canocity of the novels/short stories are unclear, I suppose the geeks will want to consider them part of the continuity but I personally hope the series never bothers tying in with them as there 100% bad fanfiction

  • @TheEndlessWarlock that is pretty interesting though. It gives the doctor a chance to see his future form, and he can just guess. :P

  • @TheEndlessWarlock Hes with the ones he worked with now.

  • @SENBIE

AFAIK Liz is still around, Jo didn't go after doing "Death Of The Doctor" and Nick also worked with Tom Baker, Peter Davison, and Sylvester McCoy, and they're still around.

  • @TheEndlessWarlock I meant the Doctors he worked with :)

  • @TheEndlessWarlock The novels/short stories arent canon. I hope you realize this

  • @zipzaggingallifrey2

Did that come from Moffat or Davies? If not, we have no choice but to agree to disagree.

  • i met him

  • I absolutely refuse to tear up at watching this. (I've met them both at conventions. Met Jon Pertwee, too.) I still want to think that they've emigrated to the Eye of Orion for tax reasons. Death? Doesn't befit such legends.

  • Where is this clip taken from??

  • @orangejuiceboxes "Enemy of the Bane" Series 2 of the Sarah Jane Adventures.

  • I had no idea this haened. thank you for posting it. "Sir Allister?" I guess that makes up for the snub at retirement. traditionally at retirment general officers were promoted 1 grade, In retirment he should be Major General, not Brigadier.

  • @GravesRWFiA With everything he'd done, seen and endured, he should have been Field Marshal and the knighthood should have been one of the most exclusive of the Orders - if not an order created especially for intergalactic chivalry.

  • Sentimentally, I feel it was very appropriate that Nick's final DW appearance was in SJA, as the program was more in spirit with Classic WHO than the New Series. Also, Nick and Lis were both part of the Pertwee-era UNIT family, and the final appearance of that Pertwee-era UNIT team in Classic WHO was in TERROR OF THE ZYGONS in Season 13.

Ian, Barry, Jon, Nick, Lis all gone now. It is a bittersweet joy to watch their wonderful Classic WHO performances on DVD now.

    All are much-missed.

  • is truly missed Nicholas Courtney with a nice last appearance in Sarah Jane Adventures, who will forever remembered as the Brigadier Alastair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart and Elizabeth Sladen as Sarah Jane-Smith, may they both RIP,

  • :'( I miss Nick and Lis so much, they really were the staple of Doctor Who for me, both very talented and wonderfull people, rest in peace xx

  • A great character and a brilliant actor. I miss him. :(

  • Brigadeir Lethbridge Stuart:

"Just ONCE I'd like to meet an alien menace that was NOT bulletproof!"

  • Brigadier: im my day we...

other man: oh for god sake shut up

  • "Thats the problem with UNIT these days, to many buzz words"

  • Their last great hurrah!

  • A very sad year- the death of two great people. RIP

  • I met him at a Dr Who convention about 3 years ago, but didn't get his autograph.

  • So happy at 1:15 when briagdier last sees sarah jane

  • Nicholas Courtney, Elizabeth Sladen and Roy Skelton will always be remember for their superb roles in Doctor Who as Brigadier, Sarah Jane Smith and the voices of Daleks will never be forgotten about.

I have met Nicholas myself, at the Time Quest convention in 2009 where I got his autograph sadly though that was to be the only time I would meet Nick.

  • @Classictv90s Very true also... YOU MET HIM??!! AND GOT HIS AUTOGRAPH???!!! I'M SO JEALOUS!!!!!! RIP Brigadier

  • @MoonshadowCryNoMore Yes, I did he was very kind to give me his autograph. His autograph table was not too far away from Tom Baker's I also got his autograph too.

  • both RIP

  • I know I shouldn't be saying this, as we are just leaving our respects on the comments in their honor, but.... to all these illnesses and cancers... damn them! Damn all the illness and cancer out there! Cancer killed my Grandma! Seriously, we've lost a great deal of Doctor Who legends in 2011, and it's just not fair, we NEVER even knew Liz had cancer!

  • @SuperScotty97Returns We lost Roy, Liz and Nick! Roy, famous for being the voice of Zippy, and, for a long time, the Daleks. Liz, being the most remarkable companion to date, and there's just too much to say, she was a legend, and I know this comment doesn't do her justice, as I can't say what she did in Doctor Who, because I would be WAY over the YouTube comment character limit. And Nicholas.... what can I say that hasn't been already said?! The man was a legend, in and out of Doctor Who!

  • @SuperScotty97Returns I'm sorry that you lost your grandma. I lost my dad in 2006 because he die from cancer. It's to bad that Nic hasn't seen these NEW Doctors of his. I agree with you of these stupid cancers and illness. Go away cancers and illness we don't want you here anymore. Did I say that right about them.

  • Courtnet and Sladen were Brilliant DW Stars and they will DEFINATELY be missed. May they join in the Blue Box in the Sky.

Well, At least Brig got his Wish in his las appearance.

He actually got to meet an Alien who WAS Immune to Bullets.

So, at least he was granted that, right?

  • he will be missed a true Doctor Who hero

  • Loving how such a long table seperates the Brig from the Major; almost like it's implying the gulf in greatness between the two men.

  • It's hard to believe both of them are death now. They still seemed so lively here...

  • Ironic seeing both Nicholas Courtney and Elisabeth Sladen in this same clip. RIP to them both.

  • @tenorrob they're dead!!??

  • Rest in Peace.

  • Brilliant man, playing a brilliantly portrayed character. Even then he hadn't lost what he had in his heyday.

  • Thanks for posting this. The Brigadier was a legend.

We'll all miss Nick Courtney and the special part he played in our childhood memories.
