  • Grande!

  • mistrz!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This makes me want to buy a fretless

  • 15. Iced Earth - Dracula

  • great bassplayer ,definitely the fretless bassmaster !!!

  • I like this small part /watch?v=O0O0yCWI-30#t=80s

  • holy crap. i didnt think he was this good. i knew he was good but come on

  • Probably the biggest flaw in Chucks carreer is that he didnt have Steve on every album...

  • @Dacremel Now, they did a remaster! The bass is very louder.

  • @Dacremel

Listen to Death - Together As One - Bass & Drum track. You're gonna shit your pants mate.

  • what if is fucking orgasmic

  • no doubting this dood is amazing at bass

  • For Death fans who wish Human had more audible bass I recommend you buy the new 2011 remastered version. The bass is now much louder in the mix. Trust me it's one of the few remastered albums that's actually worth buying even if you own the original.

  • @Direksone Whatever, it's my opinion.

  • fuck les claypool and his easy ass slapping. he has nothing on steve and his amazing fretless groove.

  • Someone can say me the name of that bass that appears in 4-Lack Of Comprehension?

  • muy buen video carnal!!

  • Needs more Quo Vadis

  • Unfortunately, bass sounds very low on almost every single metal album. It's really a shame. Everytime I hear a bass solo on a metal album I turn up the volume to hear it.

  • @soullessSiIence Except Iron Maiden. There almost too much bass :D

  • @R0bb89 I love how Iron Maiden turns up the bass. Its awesome to be able to fully concentrate on the bassline in a metal song. Testament puts their bass also pretty high up if im right. Love it.

  • 1 PERSON DONT KNOW SHIT ABOUT GOOD BASS PLAYING.

  • where can I Download Dark Hall?

  • Steve is a bad mofo! Thanks for the compile vid!

  • one of the best bassist in metal

  • Steve is a great bass player, one of the best, but I always thought a lot of his bass lines sound like my intestines after eating a lot of cabbage and baked beans.

  • great! but I miss first solo from philsophrer or control denied - breaking the broken;) I thik thats one of best;)

sorry for my english hope you understand;)

  • no cosmic sea?

  • @FenderUsa

I'm not even sure that Digiorgio plays that little interlude. Another bass player gets additional credit on that song.

  • Bass players are so important. Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin and The Who all had great bassplayers, and there "full" sound comes from that. Steve DiGiorgio is a bassplayer who was turned down in the mix (Like Cliff Burton) but you always feel the records no doubt would have sold WAY more if the bass was turned up a bit.

  • Missing Cosmic Sea part ;)

Steve is such an awesome basist, he motivated me to play bass too, I'm soon gonna buy an ESP LTD F-104, same model as him ^^, can any1 recommend a bass amp between 50 and 100 watts so I can play with me mateys?

  • @Brutalyeah all your bass answers are on talkbass.com =)

  • wow! well as a bassist he have one of the amazing bassline i ever heard, stop arguing he is better than cliff burton, common listen carefully, use your ear not your mouth idiot!

  • Contrary to the Philospher, Steve knows a whole lot about everything there was, and ever will be.

  • Here are two of my favorite Steve DiGiorgio moments:

    Death - Cosmic Sea @ 2:32 - 2:48

    Death - Secret Face @ 1:11 - 1:34

    Check them! It's pure virtuosity...

  • @Dacremel Well, on Suicide Machine track you can hear one cool part just about 0:23

  • @Dacremel Yeah, you can hear it better on Individual Thought Patterns.

  • :-Q____ @.@

  • Karl Sanders of Bass!

  • Cliff (Burton) and Steve are THE BEST.

  • Where's "Through the Eyes of Greed"?

The bass solo in that song is intense!

  • Youtube's quality is shit... Steve Digiorgio rules !!!

  • steve also had some pretty epic bass lines on the Quo Vadis album he was on

  • Nice end...

  • I think his bass playing in nothing is everything isnt bad either

  • Also played in Testament & Eric Petersons side-band, Dragonlord. Had never heard of Dark Hall. Nice.

  • Steve Digorgio is a beast. But anyone who played in death is a beast. R.I.P Chuck

  • Steve DiGiorgio is very great! Nice video, but and Damien of Horror Show Iced Earth album. This song is awesome!!!!!

  • Damn good jazz bassist too!

  • Great video but would you mind at least putting the numbers (1-14) as annotations in the vid. Like this we wouldn't have to go through the whole video just to find out what that one song is.

Again, nice vid. I never heard of this guy before.

  • @X4xHAWKx5X Done! And thanks. ^__^

  • @X4xHAWKx5X thank you for giving me the opportunity to find out about Dark Hall!! here's my gift: do you know something about Spiral Architects?

  • Awesome compilation, dude! Steve's one of my favorite bass players. Ever heard "Torture" by Sadus? I love the bass solo (under the guitar riff!) in that song.

  • arise and aggression have some gnarly basslines too

  • Nice to see some Dark Hall material.

  • death songs were so perfect not only because of chuck,s guitar and vocals but also there was a Digiorgios bass behind it

  • guys please tell me what was the song in the beginning and the band.. coz i have no idea what other members of band are doing..

  • you should have included Cosmic Seas by Death.

  • Incredible!! Great selection

  • I take it this have material from Dark Hall?

  • Brutto come la fame ma mamma mia!!!

  • That is one of the very few parts on Death's Human album that you can hear the bass on. Great compilation...

  • @BiorythmicDrifter You mean Lack Of Comprehension? Too bad that the youtube quality is sucky. -__-'

  • @ptardfjodor Nice compilation.

Surprised though you didn't add in Cosmic Sea if you added in Lack of Comprehension. Nice regardless.

  • @BiorythmicDrifter I disagree, his bass is reasonably prominent throughout, especially considering that it's a death metal album (albeit more progressive death metal)....I think the production is fine and that they couldn't have done a much better job with DiGorgio's bass...I'll have to check out some other bands though...like Control Denied, as I get the impression it's even more consciously progressive so I'd imagine he'd really shine on that...

  • @BiorythmicDrifter You can hear the bass on every song. The secret of all pro bass players in metal bands is that you don't really "hear" the bass standing out (like the guitars or the drums) but you would definitely notice if the bass wasn't there. ;)

  • @pmhsilva they provide low end. That's all. You can't hear their skill, you can only hear are they playing or not.

  • Screw all who say that metal doesn't take talent or that its bass players just follow the guitars. Steve could give a fair amount of jazz bassists a run for their money.

  • how can you not have included keeper of decay by autopsy?!

  • Suppose it would be too much to ask for annotations saying which song is which? If I knew I'd look up some of these. Awesome fucking bassist either way.

  • @FlameSama1 I wrote down all the songs in order from start to the end of the video.

  • @ptardfjodor It's just hard to tell where one ends and another begins though. Later I'll rewatch it. Thanks.

  • I love his work on the Angel Down CD

  • badass jizzed

  • Wow!Dark hall seems very interesting!

  • Steve also played with Quo Vadis on their Defiant Imagination album. He's solid throughout, but my favourite work is on Tunnel Effect (Elemental Ensemble IV), especially at the 2:00 mark. I'd link to it, but youtube isn't allowing me to post the URL.

  • @mgraham1985 Yeah, I've heard it. It's really nice, but unfortunately I heard it after this video was made.

  • @ptardfjodor I figured you'd appreciate the heads up if you hadn't :)

  • Looks like he plays an ESP Tom Araya Signature bass, but its a dual neck

  • @psychospazaaron I would say it`s EXACTLY a Tom Araya signature,it`s just the same model:The F series.

  • how does this list not have the bridge from Cosmic Sea?

  • My favorite bassist =D

Jaco Pastorius played with a fretless bass as well. You know you got to be good if you use a fretless bass.

  • @DrowningSorrows1 That's because Jaco is awesome as well. My three favorite bassplayers is Steve, Jaco and Geezer, but I must say that Jaco is the greatest of all time. :)

  • @DrowningSorrows1 not really

  • Imo the best bass is on Death's Overactive Imagination song

  • no first bass solo for the philosopher? thats the best part of the song!

  • @Dacremel ty dude :)

  • @Dacremel thats cause guitar is better

  • im hoping that with the release of the control denied record there'll be a revived in interest in schuldiner and death and with it they'll re-release a remastered human and spiritual healing, which went out of print, along with the the rest of the catalogue.

  • @yeatsg

    remastered human would be amazing.

  • Dude, where did you find Dark Hall songs?

  • @Soriano1994 You can go to Steve Digiorgio's Website where he has some of them for download.

  • Bass on Human is almost 'unhearable'.

  • I saw Quo Vadis this past year when they played at the Pavillion in Halifax, they had previous worked with DiGiorgio in studio but he was not with them at this event, which sucks, but they had a female bassist who I didn't catch the name of who played all of his stuff perfectly, it was quite an amazing thing.

  • What song is that at 3:48?

  • Changing Weather by Dark Hall.

  • I agree!

  • This vid is awesome, god job putting it together!

  • Needs Trapped in a Corner or Overactive Imagination.

  • Steve DiGiorgio is awesome!

  • \m/

  • \BADASS/ SDG slays~
