Although the German army would of gained some resources through taking Stalingrad, it wasn't a necessity to attack it so soon. Hitler wanted to take Stalingrad fast because it would be a real morale breaker for the Russians to lose the city named after the Joseph Stalin. Strategically the Germans wasted their time with it and as a result it may of been the sole reason they lost the war.

Yes, there are economic philosophies that separate the two hemispheres........BUT I (as an American) have a deep respect for Russia and find them a brave people. Since Hitler didnt believe in retreated at all, his troops never went back out of stalingrad to help reopen the line. the russians then surrounded them. if it wasnt for hitlers stubborness we'd all be living under a Nazi regime.

Hitler was convinced that Patton was going to attack Pas de Calais, so he moved all of the western panzer divisions to there, and, sadly, even when the allied forces were storming across Normandy, Hitler refused to move his tanks, because he was still convinced that there was an attack coming for Pas de Calais.

This video is bullshit, The germans only lost stalingrad because that Hitler ordered 500:000 man of the 6th army to move to the caucasus mountains leaving only the half of the 6th army in Stalingrad wich later got split up in two parts when the Russians made there counter offensive.

Although the German army would of gained some resources through taking Stalingrad, it wasn't a necessity to attack it so soon. Hitler wanted to take Stalingrad fast because it would be a real morale breaker for the Russians to lose the city named after the Joseph Stalin. Strategically the Germans wasted their time with it and as a result it may of been the sole reason they lost the war.

Your right, the Germans had to confront three fronts. Each of them was no easy task. If Adolf Hitler bypassed Stalingrad and headed for the Caucasus the outlook would have been much more different. He wasted hes troops-the great experienced Sixth Army- fighting street battles, which they were not used to; literary fighting room for room.

Maybe thats your opinion but I do agree that Stalingrad should have been avoided. The Russians lured the Germans into taking most of the city and thats when the Russians launched the massive counterattack to encircle the city.

That decision was taken after would to encircle the city, on the advice of two of Stalins Generals. The Russians knew that the Germans fought with closely packed divisions of the artillery, infantry, engineers, air force and so on. Thus the plan of the so called Communist was to keep the front lines as close as possible hindering and indivertibly for the Germans loosing close air-support and artillery.
