Aperture Schmidt-Cassegrain or you can even use my Celestron C11" Optical Tube Assembly on your CGEM Mount or CG-5 GT Advanced Mount. CGEM-DX or GGE-Pro Mounts are for the Large Celestron C14" Optical Tube Assembly with Dovetail. HAVE A HAPPY Astro-Photographic or Visual Clear Stellar-Star Night!!!!
Greetings. Nice set up. While assembling, it seemed at the end when you were installing the finderscope and the diagnal there was quit a bit of movement in the mount assembly. Do you find the scope and CGEM mount stable, or is there more than average vibration? Thanks
@jaidemm I haven't used the Galileoscope. It appears to be a very simple scope, and I wouldn't expect particularly good performance from it. That said, it's only $30, so you can't go too far wrong. And I do find it interesting for historical reasons. That is, I suppose it provides some sense of what it was like to look through Galileo's scope. It's cheap enough that I would just go for it.
@jaidemm I haven't used any of the NexStar scopes in the field, but I've played around with them in shops. They seem pretty decent to me. I don't think you'd be happy trying to use them for astrophotography (lots of vibration with that single support arm) but for general viewing they seem like a good compromise between cost and performance.
@jaidemm There are dozens of manufacturers, with Celestron, Meade and Orion the biggest ones. All three of those companies make good stuff, and I doubt you could go wrong with any of them. I am most partial to Celestron and Meade.
@jaidemm I have absolutely no problem with it as long as it's a reputable seller. I have bought scopes and other equipment from B&H Photo, Adorama, Amazon and others and respect them all.
Great video and pleasant music. I just purchased this mount with the 8" OTA. Your video cleared up a question I had on the finder scope mount. Upon unpacking, the finder mount had been factory attached with the alignment screws positioned at the front. This proved a problem when following Celestrons set - up instructions!! Thanks for sorting that.
Congrats on the 1100! The Celestron eyepieces are really good, and the eyepiece kits are a good bargain in my opinion. I would probably start with one of those.
I think I'm getting this mount. On pictures it always looks a bit small and fragile but now that I've seen it in a livingroom with you standing next to it, it seems sturdy enough after all. Hope it lives up to its 40lbs claim though.
This mount is definitely heavy-duty. I'm 6'2" and about 225, and I find the mount to be slightly challenging to hoist onto the tripod. Very sturdy indeed.

Very good video. Celestron telescopes are easy to assemble. It seems with a telescope that nice a 2 inch diagonal and eyepiece would be better!?

C9.25 on a cg5 mount or a cgem c925. Is there a serious difference between the two?

What do you think of buying a Galileoscope? It only cost $30 but have heard a lot about this telescope.

@HighTechDoohickies Thanks so much! What do you think of the 'Celestron NexStar 114 SLT Telescope' or the 'Celestron NexStar 80 SLT Telescope'?

@HighTechDoohickies Which company, in your opinion, makes the best telescopes. I was also looking at some Meade telescopes.

@HighTechDoohickies What is your opinion about buying a telescope online? I can't find a store where I live that sells telescopes.
