Jumpman1989, you're very smart. These commentators trying to put Kobe up there with Jordan were Jordan's competitors back in the day. Magic, Mark Jackson, Van Gudy, etc...Jordan never played with any type of dominant big man that could score 20 points with 10 rebounds and play defense. He basically only had Pippen and role players. I noticed in this video it said that the Lakers had 4 all stars on this team. The only all stars that the Bulls ever had were Jordan and Pippen coming from the Bulls.

Memphis dumped Pau for payroll reasons, I think. At least that's what they were saying at the time. Also, I'm not too sure if I would compare Gasol/Bynum/Kobe to the 90s Bulls just yet. From 96-98 they had three HOF worthy players leading them and Kobe's the only one I see definitely getting into the Hall.

The thing is that we will never know how each would match against each other in their prime years. Yes, Kobe was an incredible player for nineteen, but he still lacked experience and was still years away from reaching his prime, he wasn't even a starter. When they met again Kobe was already averaging big numbers, but Jordan was out of his prime so it wasn't a real match either. So we can always speculate to what might of happened if they matched up in their prime, but will never know the result
