I can't put my finger on it...but there is just something that is never there with his songs. They all are static; they just don't move you.

@timothyguy can't disagree more :) I think he has something truly special (and no not his dad) about him and live he is beautiful. I think you probably notice the fact that he is so good and been around the stage for his whole life so it's natural rather than forced therefore it seems like he doesn't try ????? x

He has amazing talent. It doesn't matter who his father is when he obviously has a natural talent. I like his sound, his voice is huskier.

No wonder Jakob doesn't smoke or get involved in serious motorcycle accidents like his father was in the 60s and 70s. I think Jakob earns a check plus on being such a very expressive songwriter way more than his own father.

@jakobluke this is a much different time.. i know, I lived back then. Do you think his father might have taught him things from his own experience? No reason to put Bob down for his youth. We teach our children well. ;-)

As for his talent it is as big as he needs it to be. Hid dad? How do you grow up with an immortal. Why compare this child with fifty years?

@CarolineChe Too many smokes, too many motorcycle accidents. Too much life. Still, Bob is something no one can equal. I saw him in '64 and have had him in my heart ever since. Jakob is his own man, however and I am sure not a bit interested in the comparisons. No more interested than his dad was when being compared to his peers those many years ago.

@CarolineChe People smoked a lot then, cigarettes were advertised everywhere.... nobody knew! There was extreme pressure on Bob, he was almost deified, and still is in many ways by his fans. Quite frankly, I wonder how he's made it this far in one piece. I've been to hundreds of his shows... my first one also in the early 60's. He's made a comment that when he dies he wants to be in an unmarked grave.... see the video of him with Allen Ginsberg visiting Kerouac's grave... it says a lot.

Your father should be very proud of you. You've perfected your own voice and your poetry and I am happy to meet you. Your father has been my constant musical companion since I was 17 years old.
