  • Do you think this sight would be durable enough for mounting on a shotgun?

  • @bradg674 No I do not think so. The battery compartment is an integral part of the light an fits in the front. It lock just by turning the light a notch. I found that after about a 100 rounds of 9mm it tends to loosen. I imagine that with a 12 gauge it will loosen before that. It will fall out.

  • Do you know if this will fit a p2000sk? I know the C5L will but wondering if the X5L will.

    Thanks

  • @kbterminator1 Sorry, I have no idea. It fits any standard 21mm rail but you need to look at barrel lenght and see if it doesnt stick out too much..

  • Aren't the light's controls ambidexterous? I was under the impression from Veridian's ads that us southpaws could use our left index finger on duplicate controls on the left side of the pistol.

  • @unicornlxi Yes they are ambidextrous! I should have mentioned that.

  • can you uaw that viridian on my zastava ez 9 it does have picatinny rail also,? it should work

  • Hi there!

I was in the process of ordering one of Viridian's laser devices from a US site when I ran into the export ban on all such devices. Did you have this problem? I realize you got yours a couple of years ago and I believe I heard you say that you got yours from an online store. I live in Southern Africa and I would love to get my hands on one of these babies! They got the X5L gen 2 out now!

Any advice would be much appreciated!

    Love your videos!

    Regards

    robsor85

  • @robsor85 Hi. I will PM you.

  • It's a X5L but which gen is it? Because I want exactly this one with the flashlight under the laser and the laser in the middle but all I find is the smaller model with the laser at the right of the flashlight?

  • In the words of the king, "a little less talk and a lot more action"

  • put that laser onto a usp and see if it looks familiar ;)

  • @morgonfr33m4n1337z I used to have a USP 9mm but it didn't have a picatinny rail.

  • all you do

    uh

    uh

    basically

    what do ya call it

    ahh

    uh

  • @sOmthinG00D Uhm yeah. So, how long have you been in the special ed class?

  • that was tough to watch for some reason

  • @3BabyMamas Maybe the "B" word?

  • @f0xmuld3r ?

  • @3BabyMamas "Boring" :-)

  • Does it come with one or two screws. It looks the ther's another hole, but I guess one screw is enough, huh?

  • @FollowMyDamnedLaws It comes with two and at first I used just one (the front one) but now I use both as it does have some creep and at 25 meters it was off by 10cm. With 2 screws its about 2cm.

  • @FollowMyDamnedLaws Ok, I was just curious, thanks!

  • do you know if this X5L baby fits on mk.23 ?

  • @dex9k No I don't know. Check the fit-chart on the Viridian website.

  • Hey i'm an weapon fanatic from Norway, and I was just wondering one one thing. I saw your review on your P30L and you mentioned that P30L was made for the Norwegian police force. Is that true?

  • @Crazycarrot650 All I know is that it is used by the Norwegian Police and I as far as I understood it, they use the L version (some requirement for barrel length)?

  • I have a P30 v2 (LEM with dbl action only) and I want to get the same setup as you. After reading some on the bore sight, some people are saying that it doesn't fit in their 9mm. I'm assuming it would be ok in mine as the chambers are identical?

  • @crozek I would be very surprised if a 9mm bore sight would not fit the chamber: they are made for that and mine fits just fine. Alternatively there are bore sights that go in the front of the barrel. I have no experience with that type. Biggest drawback of the one I have is batteries are drained within 15minutes or even less. So you gotta work fast!

  • can this go on a mossberg 500 crusier

  • where did you get the bore sight?

  • and you never turned it on,,,Thanks for the complete waste of time ...Jesus,,,,man,,,,

  • @silverpizza100 Hahaha, have you bothered to watch part 1? Also see 6:00

  • with all thoes gold rings and big watch you must be a pimp or sumting...whateva makes you feel important...

  • Great video. I have a question with the bore light. So you are saying that the red light and green should mix with each other or the red should be on top of the green. Could u post a video of how to site it with bore light

  • Yes. At a distance of approx 15 meters the green laser needs to be overlapping the red light. The red laser is the impact point of your bullet, and you want the laser to be at that exact point. That's it.

  • Great video. I'm still debating between this, the Non light version, and a streamlight model. Seems like you are still happy with the unit.

    -Andreas

  • Hi Andreas,

Going green has its advantages: a green laser is superior to a red one. They are expensive however. If you have the money I would say: get the one with a light: the one without it, isn't smaller anyway.

If you have the money for it, it's well spend. There are many other options as well though...

  • @f0xmuld3r Thanks for the response. I've been reading some forums like glocktalk and defensivecarry and others and have seen a few people complain that the viridian laser can go out of alignment after shooting. Have you had a chance to try the bore sight again to see if the laser has drifted out of alignment at all?

I'm very seriously considering this model. Its currently between this and the streamlight tlr2

    -Andreas

  • Problematik1 asked that as well (see below).

I remove/attach it almost every week when cleaning. I use the bore sight to check the alignment after I re-attach. 95% no drift. If I have drift it only is horizontal. Guess I need to tighten the bolts better?

The TLR2 is a lot bigger I think. Mine does not stick out in front of the barrel.

See my video response for some action shots. Not bad (if I say so myself).

Wranglerbarn now has a laser as well and he likes it. Great for home defense.

  • 6:05 ..it's Christmas. very nice set up. still saving for mine.

  • Yeah I know. It is definitely not the cheapest around. Somehow they do not seem to get cheaper also...

  • What is the prime advantage of the green laser over a red laser?

  • It is insanely bright. You can actually see it in daylight.

Go check the the viridan website. They have tons of info...

  • 100 lumens? Not the most I've seen on a weapon light/laser, but impressive! Most impressive. I might think about shelling out extra for it now since it comes with the green laser instead.

  • It's more than enough for any kind of tactical entry in a house/building and the strobe is disorienting enough I think...

  • Have you but alot of arounds though the gun with the unit mounted? Green lasers are DPSS lasers and usually pretty fragile, so I'm really curious how robust the total unit is. Can it take some bumps and drops and keep ticking?

  • I obviously didn't test dropping my gun and the Viridian on it :-) So I can't really tell. But the unit itself feels pretty sturdy. It is made from high strength Zytel polymer & aircraft aluminum and feels pretty sturdy.

Until now I have put at least > 1700 9mm FMJ through the gun of which at least 900 with the laser attached to it, either on or just off.

No problems whatsoever. But just look at the reviews.

Only thing I find iffy is the fact that it's not water resistant (splash).

  • Excellent idea with the bore sight as long as the laser was manufactured properly and points directly straight.

How well does the actual light work on it? I'd really appreciate a video on that, if you don't mind. Thanks again, take care!

  • The light works great. It's hard for me to make a video on it, but I have tried it on the range when the range lights were off and I was able to see and acquire the target at 27 yards (25 meters) without problems.

I think that the combination is great for a home defense situation.

  • Do you happen to know how many lumens the light is? Does it say it on the box or anything? Thank you for your reply, take care!

  • 100 lumen continuous, 140 lumen in strobe mode / larger hotspot, optimized for CQB. It actually has 4 settings: high beam, strobe, medium and low.

  • Cool nice vid. I'd like one but they are pricey :(

  • Definately steep priced. For me all about second type of cool (Nutnfancy style). Practical? Not in Holland. Cool? Hell yeah!

  • @f0xmuld3r

Hell yeah man! Super nice laser and super cool!

I like your youtube handle, xfiles rules ;)

  • Hehe, The Truth is Out There

  • great reviews but i got a question

does it stay zero'ed? i'm kinda iffy about the universal one since they specially made ones for S&W, springfield, etc...

and i have a USP9, would i have to use the picatinny rail or will it just slide on just like that?

    thanks!

  • Hi,

Good question. I have released and attached it a couple of times and I found that you might need zero it in again once in a while. I have noticed that you need to use the second screw that came with it as well. Even thought the unit attaches quite snug, I found there is some horizontal/sideways movement.

About the USP; this thing has to use the picatinny rail.

  • and how often is a couple of times? like every time you shoot ?

    thanks! :)

i can't wait to get mines, watching this video made me want to get it nooooooow but i gotta do more research lol

  • No I noticed I had to do this depending on if I carried my gun in a holster or not. If I carry in a holster I have to zero in at least one in 5 visits to the range, if I carry it in the pouch (shown in the video) about once every 10 range trips.. Also it is just less than an inch off at 16 feet or so...

  • Nice gun and very nice and professional review. Two thumbs up!

  • Thank you.

  • what bullets do you use ?

  • Magtech FMJ 124grain. Since it's a polygonal barrel you can't use plain lead bullets as they clog up the barrel with lead residue.

  • Nice setup. Good demo! Thanks!

  • First, thanks for posting this cool video!!! Second...SWEET Piece you have there. Third....how much were you out for the Bore sight 9mm round.....seems to me that would be the easiest way to sight in the X5L Viridian.

  • $29 via Amazon. Just look up: 9MM Sightmark Cartridge Laser Boresighter and you'll find it (including my review on it). It useful not only for this but adjusting your sights of any kind I think...

  • That P30L looks SWEET

  • Thanks, I think so too ;-)

  • how much did you pay for the x5l and where did you buy it?

  • The answer is a few comments below. I bought it online via Amazon and took it with me back from my trip to he US.

  • Great review of the Veridian X5L. That bore alignment laser is too cool! It never dawned on me that this is a great way to align a laser sight and not just a regular sight. Good Show! Hey, you say that you're European? I thought that your autocratic big brother governments forbid you guys from owning guns? If true--how do you own that nice ass HK P30L? I'm an American protected by our cherished

2nd Amendment to the US Constitution.

  • What size boyt case did you get?

  • the 10" version. It is big enough to also have the 2nd mag in it..

  • How much did the Laser cost?

  • $349. Not cheap but since I'm European the dollar is 40% cheaper than a Euro I did good anyway. You can probably get it cheaper than that.

  • yeah well that means it might cost around $150 -200, not a bad price, but then how much was the handgun? is it available here in the USA?

  • Yes it's been available in the US (for a while already). Impact Guns sells it for 909 dollar, the regular P30 sells for 848. I paid about that much in Euro's (895).

  • That is a nice laser attachment!! I was looking into getting one but got the X2L, then sold it and got a CTC laser Grip. My problem with the front attachments is that for concealed carry its hard to find a holser to fit, and is why I sold it! I noticed the green laser it was blinking, any reason for this???

  • Maybe you missed it, but in the video prior to this one in which I only discuss the X5L itself, I explain the X5L has several setting: Constant beam, slow blinking and 2 more faster blinking modes. I set it on slow blinking as it saves battery power. That's all.

  • Yeah, I this is definitely not a good rig for concealed carry. But even if you do not want to carry such a combination concealed it's hard to find a holster.
