I get 19 to 23 mpg in my 05 4.0L trd double cab short bed 4x2. Not great, but not bad. It's my first Tacoma and I wouldn't trade it for nothing.

I have a 3.4 L in mine, TRD off road extended cab with mudding tires, get 18 city and 21 highway. With 176,000 miles on it. Trucks still in almost perfect shape minus the paint fading. I'll never buy anything but this truck

Really? I have a 2.7-liter 3RZ-FE engine from a 1995 Tacoma in my 1981 Toyota Hilux, and with 37" MTRs and 5.29:1 diff gearing, I get 23 miles per gallon at 65 MPH freeway driving. With how awfully bad the aerodynamics are for my 28 year old truck, I would say the Tacoma engine makes AMAZINGLY GOOD gas mileage.
