It's been awhile since I saw the comments here. This is for future "correctors". I long recognized that I made an error on which self-reinventation of David Bowie performed the song. I'm not much of a David Bowie fan despite liking his music. I assumed (naively) that do to many in the past having made the correction, people would see others already have, and realize I'm too damn lazy to edit the vid's description. Here's hoping.
@Apillis124 Just not changing the description of the video out of spite? Also, what does the letter x followed by the letter d mean? You keep doing that to me.
Danzig is amazing! When i purchased the Lost Tracks of Danzig and seen that he did a Bowie cover i was like WTF? He writes all of his music and rarely does a cover but great job!
what ziggy stardust days are u telling in description ??
this song was written in 1982 for the movie with the same title.. and in 1982 ziggy was officially dead from 1973
p.s.: pretty good as a cover.. what concerning the instrumentation [really a cover] but "white duke's" voice is unreachable... the "..with gasoliiiiiiiiine"-part of the original version can really give you the chills
@idannis - Here's a bit of funny. Glen Danzig's natural singing voice(at least the one that seems to be his comfortable voice) is a lot like Jim Morrison's. Bowie covered Alabama Song. Of course so did The Doors, but you should read what the die hard Jim Morrison fans say about Bowie's version.
I don't disagree with you, just thought it might be an interesting addition to your view.
This version would've been a great reprise from the original in "Inglourious Basterds"...right at the end...I won't spoil it, but an inferno roasting the Nazi regime alive would be so great with a Danzig soundtrack.
This isn't from the Ziggy Stardust era, most of the music was actually done by Giorgio Moroder but the lyrics were by Bowie for the movie Cat People (82). Bowie did another version on his Let's Dance album.
This cover seems to be based off the original Moroder/Bowie version.
This song isn't from Bowie's "Ziggy Stardust days". The original version of Cat People was released in '82 and again in '83 on his "Let's Dance" album, eleven years after Ziggy Stardust came out.
This song was my first favorite song I can remember when I was a kid (the Bowie version obviously). Also I've been a Danzig fan since I was in grade school. So, to me, this is pretty cool. I always thought there was some similarity between this Bowie tune and Danzig stuff. Now that I think of it, the first part of this song sounds alot like the first part of my favorite Danzig track, "Soul On Fire". I wonder if this song was the direct inspiration for the other. Thanks for uploading!
Cat People is my all-time favorite Bowie song. Of course the original was infinitely better, but Danzig sort of made it their own in a way that I can appreciate. The guy obviously doesn't have a voice of Bowie's caliber though.
Actually, the static and raw sound is largely thanks to youtube's craptastic coding. =/ The song unmolested by youtube coding sounds quiet a bit cleaner and not as static-y when the song picks up and doesn't seem quiet as "loud". =/
lol first of all because bowie created it so his version is the best and i think it sounds better than this anyways. a metal cover of this song could sound so much better
Cat people was recorded in 1981 or somewhere around there. It was for the soundtrack of the Movie with the same title. It did get a fair amount of air play on the radio. Bowie later re-recorded it for Let's Dance many will agree the original is the best.
i dont understand the debate...danzig good...bowie good both songs are great just different

@hakeber138 I totally agree!
I also love Danzig and Bowie but this song Glenn Allen Anzalone should'nt have done. It`s a ruin of a big song!
