What most likely happened is the developers needed a basis for their game so they adopted the Unreal Engine which generally always looks the same and probably even took an early prototype of gears but then they developed it into their own fantasy game with shit like magic and throwing girls with swords at monsters. This isn't TRYING to be gears it's just based off of the same engine mechanics, don't fix what isn't broken.

@GMrPirate ugh, ok ill explain. oblivion, the demon people look almost exactly like some of the enemies in this game it seems like. just watch the vid again and look for those characters, i forgot their names. Maybe not soul caliber as much, but the style of this game, like the finishing moves on enemies looks like that, and the characters kind of do too, along with the weapons they use. (besides guns obvs)

@RabidDesign: It really is Gears of War. My friend rented Quantum Theory last night, and has been letting me play it, and everything about it is just like Gears. The way you cover, the way you evade, the way you pick up ammo. The guns are huge. I'm just waiting to run into an enemy that acts just like a Berserker. The only thing that's really different is all the stereotypical Japanese aspects of it like ridiculous human strength, ignoring gravity, and exaggerated blood spatter.
