The Chinese government would never carry out or sanction a nuclear attack on the U.S. First of all, it would be suicide in the military sense. Any nuclear attack would be met with complete and utter annihilation in a counterattack. Secondly, it would be economic suicide. The Chinese and American economies are so closely tied that a nuclear attack would probably have devastating and irreversible economic implications for both countries.
The communist Chinese regime would not pull such a move because it would be political suicide. And when it all boils down, their own survival is all that matters to them. Period.

The Chinese government would never carry out or sanction a nuclear attack on the U.S. First of all, it would be suicide in the military sense. Any nuclear attack would be met with complete and utter annihilation in a counterattack. Secondly, it would be economic suicide. The Chinese and American economies are so closely tied that a nuclear attack would probably have devastating and irreversible economic implications for both countries.

My guess is a joint Russian-Chinese force would first declare war on the U.S. and then China would sneak attack Russia when they least expect it --perhaps with a deal made under the table with some very powerful internationalists--much the same way the Nazis turned on the Soviets in WWII.

The launchers can easily fit in a cargo hold where our intel satellites cant detect them. The Coast Guard and Navy dont have the resources or time to do anything about it even if we had intel. Most could stay well into international waters where we couldn't/wouldn't attack them.

Hell the u.s. sat boats in the gulf and pounded iraq with tomahawks all day. whether or not china snuck into u.s. coastal waters and launched a surprise attack wouldn't change the outcome. both nations would suffer amazing loss.

Question: why couldn't the U.S. Navy and Air Force, with the most sophisticated surveillance systems and weapons ever created, prevent such an attack? Would a hostile missile ship (assuming such a thing even exists) really be able to sneak up so easily on the American coast and take a shot?
Another question: if America's enemies really possess such a capability, then why haven't they employed it yet? What are they so afraid of?

Because there all worried about the freakin arabs and their oil in the mid-east. America can prevent this attack if it withdraws its military to protect its people.

Thanks for the answer, Reido. Something else America needs to do besides pull its military back: free itself of its addiction to Arab oil. It started doing so back in the mid-1970s, but it lost the way in the following decade. Perhaps if it had stayed on that path, there would be not one U.S. serviceman risking his life in the Middle East today. We already know the Arabs don't like us--why don't we turn their dislike of us back on them?

The arab governments dont like us but that is a complex issue from us over throwing their dictators to our isolation and forceful ness of trying to give them democracy even tho they cant use it because it goes against Islam. Its a tough battle but we should let the arab world do this for them selves and let them fight there own battles of what is right and wrong for them by their judgement. The west had to fight that battle for centuries and we made it to where we are now.

The russians are dangerous, but I'm not so sure they could "destroy USA" considering the serious flaws in their nuclear deterrence arsenal. I'm not so sure that their aging SS-18's and such would even get of the ground anymore. The Topol probably will, but how many do they really have?. And their SLBMs have always been 50/50 anyway... And a strategic bomber strike is difficult. They could "Hurt USA", but maybe not destroy.

A nuclear tipped missile doesn't need to be very accurate...
Besides, this video is very unlikely in my opinion. The Scud's range is so short that the ship had to get real close to the city... and coast guard. Why would China bother with scuds when they have ICBMs and SLBMs. They won't get away with it anyway so why not just get all the missiles away as fast as possible, before the inevitable counterattack destroys your offensive capability.
