This is amazing! I think they are trying to bite him out of a natural instinct. Obviously he feeds them and cares for them. They are probably used to being handled. Snakes can feel noise and follow movements rather than hear tones as like we do. They see more in the Infrared range than in the visible light spectrum.
These snakes have a short life span- Most snake charmers don't feed there snakes and some sew the mouths shut. Much easier to find new snakes than to bother feeding or taking care of them.

Sewing up its mouth is sign of a lazy snakecharmer because it kills the snake within a week and requires he go buy or catch new cobras all the time. New snakes with sewn mouths put on a very unpredictable and lackluster performance and are often in too much pain to come out of their baskets.

its the movement of the flute, not the music. and most charmers remove their snakes fangs, kinda takes the fun out of it, but still cool to watch.

These people are bad.. they rip the snakes fangs out and make movements so the snake follows the flute. Snakes are deaf. so they cant even hear the music.. and they often get infected in the wonds after the teeth so they die from it. Thumbs up so people know.

have u been to india before, we have mice there but barely any snakes because we kill them all. Mice dont affect crops significantly there. Pesticides are poison to them and kill plenty of them off. Stop repeating stupid shit you learn in grade 8 science class you dumbfuck.

@TheSnakeIdiot i don't think anyone has the luxury of being an animal rights activist in india. he's doing whatever is neccesary for him to make enough money to survive. even if it means charming snakes in the streets. would YOU want to "charm" deadly snakes for a living? i would remove the fangs not only for myself, but for my audience as well.
as much as i would want to save the animals life, it shouldnt be at the cost of human life.

Snakes cant hear but they can feel air pressure changes. so while they dont hear sound, in reality their way of "hearing" isnt that much different than ours.

Funny, I think I saw this exact same snake charmer in Kerala. I'm pretty sure that is the same spot too. There should be an alley leading to the sea to the left of it.

There's this green and black, Non-earth Cobra, that is intelligent enough to speak. It gets weirder when a voice draws me to a temple with the Hindu gods in person, with an immortalized Buddha.

@flash51050 That's another common way to do it, cruel if you ask me. Cutting the fangs off is harmless if done carefully and doesn't harm the snake in the long term. Sewing up its mouth is sign of a lazy snakecharmer because it kills the snake within a week and requires he go buy or catch new cobras all the time. New snakes with sewn mouths put on a very unpredictable and lackluster performance and are often in too much pain to come out of their baskets.

@robotpanda77 They use trained cobras, usually defanged as well, because as you see, it's not 100% every time.
A cobra's natural instinct when pulled out of darkness into light and having a flute waved in circles in front of its face is to puff up, assume a defensive posture and stand still. It assumes the moving flute is the risk so it doesn't flee or strike at the charmer.
He didn't seem to be doing very good at the last part. But again, it's a performance art, not a science.

I believe it's the art of circular breathing. If you train yourself well enough, you can breathe in through your nose and out through you mouth at the same time.

Did you know? He technically doesn't even have to play that stupid instrument to charm the snake. All he needs to do is make a few vibrations, then gently sway his hand back and forth to charm the snake.
