  • Should have played through the fire and the flames :)

  • I hate idiots like these. I'm brazilian and poor. I love piano and I never see one ;\ I never touch in one, that's my dream. And idiots like this burn his piano. I've one thing to say: I hate you, son of the bitch

  • @NynhoOliveira art is about destroying and creating from chaos. I bet you have that

  • People, stop bitching. How else are you supposed to know what a burning piano sounds like without setting it aflame? Besides, doesn't anyone else remember that wonderful period in the 19th-20th century when composers would stick metal cans, nails, and other junk into a piano just for the sake of exploration?

  • Interesting comments. So it is absolutely terrible to burn a piano for a film (according to the notes) but it is perfectly allright, if not expected, even, to destroy heaps of cars for a standard american action film.

  • NOW SHE'S A LITTLE BOY IN SPAIN, PLAYING PIANOS FILLED WITH FLAMES!

  • @HandelMcmandle mr mangum never leaves people indifferent

  • hmmmm jimy hendrix did that better......

  • Hendrix did it and everyone loves HIM for it.

  • Schön, wenn man keine anderen Sorgen hat

  • a Form of ART in a Strange kindof way: absolutely.

i can deeply feel sorrow from that pianist.

    What an incredible expressionist.

i can picture out what he wanted to say.

Its more like you looking on an Art in a gallery translating what the Creator deeply expresses. You don't have any idea about ARTS if yeu haven't tried to figure what such an expressionist wanted to say. sorry stone-dumbs.

    IMHO.. It's him(piano) departing. 7:(

he would leave the world still having that burning passion.

  • @emoFangs I dont think burning of an art that creates musical art, makes another art. So shut up

  • @Carlit0Tit0 its what yeu think. it's yeur opinion. Yeu have yeur right as well as mine.

    who cares.

  • @emoFangs Well..maybe it's cuz your emo, so it makes sense..

  • a dying instrument still giving its final performance.... ;-(

  • I've been saving for years to buy a baby grand and look at these people burning pianos. So, any body thinking of burning a piano, I'll take it.

  • he wasn't even playing anything good :/

  • @WolfgangBoodman it was contemporary

  • he could have at least played something cool

  • Guys, it's a metaphor. I'm sorry that none of you understand.

  • What is it for? to look different? It's just wasting pianos and time. It's just stupid.

  • Would a shotgun mic and a windsock have killed you?

  • drama at 1:24 guys

  • This is the stupidest thing I have ever seen.

  • It makes me laugh deeply when I see all these comments. Guys, he's not doing it to show off his piano skills, he's not doing it to show how rich he is. He is recreating a piece originally created by Yoko Ono, a prominent avant-garde artist from the psychedelic era. It was performed at my university a while ago, and it sounds amazing when you're there. The way the strings start snapping and the wood starts popping, is utterly amazing to hear. Open your minds, there is more to sound than "music".

  • @svbassist amen to that

  • @svbassist Yes. But you don't need to waste $16,000 just for the sound of wood burning or strings snapping.

  • This would be better if he was a decent pianist playing a decent piece of music.

  • is this some kind of fetish?

  • epically stupid.

  • lol "well time for me to do my usual activity of playing a grand piano on a beach in an anti fire suit....wait why is it burning? lol

  • The sad thing is that his playing is really quite utterly boring.

  • so; what´s the meaning?

  • He killed music. Literally.

  • He probably got some old piano that was on its last leg.

  • emmmm ... Apparently I do not understand art ... At least, this play unless you can present to call it something ...

It's hard for me not to think about the beautiful piano destroyed in a few seconds just for fun .... for some music that does not respect the instruments, in my opinion are as little as sacred in my life and should not be with them to do so. More fun by the sight of this gave the music such as burns.

  • @Izuuu280 People can do whatever they like with their own property. Keep your "sacred" bullshit to yourself.

  • @TheRealLordRama Perhaps something you made a mistake ... does not keep his views to himself, since under the law can deliver it. It is famous for the freedom of speech ... on your allowance. And a comment is not to praise something or silence when you do not like ... Greetings from Polish, ;D

  • this is uncool and simply bullshit, I cant see any good in this.

this dude would be much cooler if he burned a chair and sit on it, maybe that would bring some emotion into this piece of music.

but ok, we are on this planet free to express so go for it, burn your house and make eggs and bacon in it.

    blessed love!

  • lol whats the point of it o.O

  • No other way to say it, so here goes.

    "That guy is owuhn DRUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGS."

    However, still entertaining.

  • i was hoping a string would pop and cut him in half. would have been a much better video no? hippies

  • thats literaly playing Through the Fire and the Flames haha:)

  • So thats where Spectrasonics got the burning piano idea from I've got a sampled buring piano on my synthesizer.

  • who cares, i hate piano anyways

  • Maybe, Great Balls of Fire would have been a better choice.

  • R.I.P. piano ;(

  • it's sad to see a piano burning.

  • Btw, what the fuck was that? Look how wealthy i am so i destroy a $16k piano?

Retard. Well, he got his 1:43 minutes of idiotic fame. Lol.

  • @marvinracer88 He was famous way before this. And if you do the research, the piano was in line to be scrapped regardless. He wasn't wasting anything.

  • @marvinracer88 The full performance was 10 minutes long. The piano was donated for this cause because it was going to be scrapped anyhow.

  • @marvinracer88 its like hendrix burning his guitar; its a musical statement

  • @marvinracer88 yeeh thats right stupid americans

  • @Assassin95pfk

    he's Japanese.....

  • the real deal is that guy aint wearing a hazmat suit or whatever.. he supposed to wear a suit.. that matches!

  • kkkkkkkkk coisa de intelectualóide mesmo, ridículo. Era melhor ter doado para algum estudante necessitado.

  • WHAT is he playing?!!

  • it's a piano

  • ha ha (sarcastic)

i meant his choice of jazz.

  • filho da puta eu aqui presisando de um piano aff.....

  • este hombre es un genio

  • Obviously you guys haven't heard a lot of jazz. It's not all based on stuff that sounds pretty, sometimes it can be really ugly.

  • this jazz just sucks... its not ugly... it just sucks

  • I'm not against his desire to express himself like that - hei! It's just a form of art and to me it has a point to it, but I must say that it bothers me that this is not HIS form of art...I'm not a great fan of copycats

  • ur an idiot... he did this 30 years ago

  • Well great, I'm really happy for him. But, as I said, not a big fan of copycats:

-> March 28, 1958 (as you can see, Jerry did it more than 30 years ago)

    Jerry Lee Lewis Burns Piano

During the opening night of a tour promoted by DJ Alan Freed, Jerry Lee Lewis is involved in a dispute with Chuck Berry over the line-up. Enraged that he had not been chosen to perform last, he torches his piano during his set-closing number, "Great Balls of Fire."

  • Ok then anyone who plays piano is a copycat because they aren't the first. Same goes for you, you aren't the first to call him a copycat. Hypocrite.

  • the piece wasn't even that good. too bad I'm too poor to even afford a regular piano. hmph

  • that is such disrespect to a instrument

  • "Disrespect"? It's an inanimate object; get over it.

  • @soldier9599 U think an object doesnt deserve respect? ur an idiot then. People need to respect weapons, SUV's, food, musical instruments and everything around.

  • LOL

  • @marvinracer88 Sorry for replying to a month old post, but I find it ironic you put guns there first...

  • fail

  • that wasn't music, it was just a noise.

  • maybe there is somthing he wanna tell.. but what a shame, I would never burn the instrument which gives such a beautiful sound...

  • if this was his only piano would he do the same?it's really sad because most people can't afford to buy a piano.don't know much about jazz pianists but a real musician wouldn't burn an instrument, what ever he would like to show with this action..........

  • Mr. Yamashita. One and only Jazz pianist. He is recognizing the piano spirits this way. Just fantastic!

I am always fascinated by his wild idea, too.

    :-)

  • Je ne vois pas l'intéret de cette vidéo, pourquoi ce ne serait pas le pianiste qui brulerait au lieu du piano ?

  • oui, pourquoi pas?!

  • that is stupid

  • poor piano :(

  • That would rock.

  • I think it's funny people are crying about burnt...wood. What?! He burnt wood?! Why wood! Oh dear goodness. It was an old piano that was going to be scrapped. Piano's aren't an endangered species. Or even a species at all. XD Was an awesome preformance and Idea. I love it.

  • that was a nice piano :(

  • Actualy it was an old piano that was going to be scrapped. It was a bad piano, he just makes it sound good. :P

  • oh.

in that case it is kind of an artistic idea.

  • that was pretty cool, has something totally pagan voodoo-ish

  • jerry lee lewis copycat...

  • is that a religious ceremoney for the death of a piano?...

  • Music killer.

  • (Reply to IANKREMER4K )

    Your angry ignorance is astounding!

"Striving to be famous?" 'Music killer" you said.

    Wrong IANKREMER4K !

66 year old Yōsuke Yamashita is a very famous jazz pianist.

(He played for 10 whole minutes before the strings snapped. This video provides us with just a sample.)

  • Stupid guy! He wears protection. He should play and burn into...What was he thinking? Striving to be famous? Ridiculous.

  • FLUFFLE-O...the Sing-Along Video Celebrating Love Between a Man and his Marshmallow...from Mysterious CATMAN COHEN...

    "Fluffle-O, Fluffle-O

    Marshmallow, Marshmallow

    Fluffle-O, Fluffle-O

Where'd you go, Where'd you go?"

  • Quit bitching on about "Oh, he wasted a fine piano" And "I know people that have to sleep in art rooms at Uni" So fucking what... It's his Piano, if he chooses to burn it, so be it. You complaining about him burning the piano, is like a Jewish person complaining about me eating pork.

  • I know students that have to stay at uni practice rooms because they can't afford a piano, and here is this fuckwit burning one for the sake of art - idiots.

  • In Shinto, spirits are in everything, even a piano - so a priest was there to say the last rites and send the spirit on its way. Where to? It would be nice to think it went to a piano in a music school...

  • congratulations! yet another ingenious idea by the japanese. their ancestors must b so proud

  • c tro bête!

  • sin palabras, por una parte es una manera muy artistica de demostrar tu amor hacia la musica pero por otra...

Diosss!!!! que son 15000€ de piano!!!!! y yo necesito uno!!!!

  • Waste of a good piano-

    Stupid-

    Get Fucked dickhead

  • DING it's ready!

  • It's not that big of a deal. It'd be cool if he played a burning piano without a fire protective suit. I mean, that's the only cool way to do something like that. Playing a burning piano isn't cool if you're giving recognition to the fact that it is on fire. Though I guess he is just a pianist and not a stuntmant. Ohh, and quit bitching about wasting a piano. It was his goddamn piano and he can what he pleases with it.

  • hahah true, or playing a piano whilst being on fire himself would b a good trick.

  • maybe he should have checked the wind direction before he started...

  • maybe he shouldve check the wind direction before he started.. dumb

  • total shit. he should have donated this instrument to some music school or to a poor musician. I bet it didn't hold tone for more than 60 seconds, and calling it a concert is a total misunderstanding.

  • Agreed...what a waste, and at least he could have played something more interesting.

  • I remind me Keith Emerson.

  • What a brilliant idea to play a burning piano!

It is similar to "burning giraffes" by Salvador Dali!

  • What a brilliant idea to play a burning piano!

  • that's intense. :P

  • What a WASTE!

  • this is so strange.. sorry T.T

  • I agree, think the guy must be a slate short
