I hate idiots like these. I'm brazilian and poor. I love piano and I never see one ;\ I never touch in one, that's my dream. And idiots like this burn his piano. I've one thing to say: I hate you, son of the bitch
People, stop bitching. How else are you supposed to know what a burning piano sounds like without setting it aflame? Besides, doesn't anyone else remember that wonderful period in the 19th-20th century when composers would stick metal cans, nails, and other junk into a piano just for the sake of exploration?
Interesting comments. So it is absolutely terrible to burn a piano for a film (according to the notes) but it is perfectly allright, if not expected, even, to destroy heaps of cars for a standard american action film.
a Form of ART in a Strange kindof way: absolutely.
i can deeply feel sorrow from that pianist.
What an incredible expressionist.
i can picture out what he wanted to say.
Its more like you looking on an Art in a gallery translating what the Creator deeply expresses. You don't have any idea about ARTS if yeu haven't tried to figure what such an expressionist wanted to say. sorry stone-dumbs.
IMHO.. It's him(piano) departing. 7:(
he would leave the world still having that burning passion.
It makes me laugh deeply when I see all these comments. Guys, he's not doing it to show off his piano skills, he's not doing it to show how rich he is. He is recreating a piece originally created by Yoko Ono, a prominent avant-garde artist from the psychedelic era. It was performed at my university a while ago, and it sounds amazing when you're there. The way the strings start snapping and the wood starts popping, is utterly amazing to hear. Open your minds, there is more to sound than "music".
emmmm ... Apparently I do not understand art ... At least, this play unless you can present to call it something ...
It's hard for me not to think about the beautiful piano destroyed in a few seconds just for fun .... for some music that does not respect the instruments, in my opinion are as little as sacred in my life and should not be with them to do so. More fun by the sight of this gave the music such as burns.
@TheRealLordRama Perhaps something you made a mistake ... does not keep his views to himself, since under the law can deliver it. It is famous for the freedom of speech ... on your allowance. And a comment is not to praise something or silence when you do not like ... Greetings from Polish, ;D
@marvinracer88 He was famous way before this. And if you do the research, the piano was in line to be scrapped regardless. He wasn't wasting anything.
I'm not against his desire to express himself like that - hei! It's just a form of art and to me it has a point to it, but I must say that it bothers me that this is not HIS form of art...I'm not a great fan of copycats
Well great, I'm really happy for him. But, as I said, not a big fan of copycats:

Jerry Lee Lewis Burns Piano
During the opening night of a tour promoted by DJ Alan Freed, Jerry Lee Lewis is involved in a dispute with Chuck Berry over the line-up. Enraged that he had not been chosen to perform last, he torches his piano during his set-closing number, "Great Balls of Fire."
@soldier9599 U think an object doesnt deserve respect? ur an idiot then. People need to respect weapons, SUV's, food, musical instruments and everything around.
if this was his only piano would he do the same?it's really sad because most people can't afford to buy a piano.don't know much about jazz pianists but a real musician wouldn't burn an instrument, what ever he would like to show with this action..........
I think it's funny people are crying about burnt...wood. What?! He burnt wood?! Why wood! Oh dear goodness. It was an old piano that was going to be scrapped. Piano's aren't an endangered species. Or even a species at all. XD Was an awesome preformance and Idea. I love it.

Quit bitching on about "Oh, he wasted a fine piano" And "I know people that have to sleep in art rooms at Uni" So fucking what... It's his Piano, if he chooses to burn it, so be it. You complaining about him burning the piano, is like a Jewish person complaining about me eating pork.
I know students that have to stay at uni practice rooms because they can't afford a piano, and here is this fuckwit burning one for the sake of art - idiots.
In Shinto, spirits are in everything, even a piano - so a priest was there to say the last rites and send the spirit on its way. Where to? It would be nice to think it went to a piano in a music school...
It's not that big of a deal. It'd be cool if he played a burning piano without a fire protective suit. I mean, that's the only cool way to do something like that. Playing a burning piano isn't cool if you're giving recognition to the fact that it is on fire. Though I guess he is just a pianist and not a stuntmant. Ohh, and quit bitching about wasting a piano.
