this was heaps coool, i heard that year 12 HSC are doing this poem for there exam in Australia, im in year 9 and i alsooo have to do this for my exam.. it sucks.
I believe that was a note my teacher gave me (i disliked english so i'm sorry i'm not a lot of help but i'll try).
Whistle itself isn't a sound word but rather a doing word. Your examples make me think you googled the word in search of your answer (lol) i'd say go with them. Whistle is an action/doing word and is not therefore onomatopoeia. Rather the sound it produces is.
If you have a mate thats in uni doing an Literacy course i suggest asking them (im I.T sorry).
@heywes Google? well.. I tried searchin but cudn't really get much.. It didn't say about that word really... Thanks anyway.. your review was helpful... btw where r u from? Gwen Harwood is Australian.. r u also?
haha yea man its like a toy! it doesnteven move. like the body doesnt even like go up and down to breathe.. haha the reading was a bit of da drag but like the stuff after was good :)

Nice review... One question... is "Whistle" itself an onomatopoeia??
I thought it would be that "choo-choo" or "phew" or something like that is an "onomatopoeia of a whistle"???? :S
Please confirm...

oh dear.
i'm right in the middle of analysing this poem for my gwen harwood essay.
nice attempt at reading it though hey.
thanks for the advice!

Good analysis, and represented with humour which keeps the viewers attention fixed, and filled with fervour for the wise words being spoken.
I'm in year 12 and analysing 7 of Gwen Harwood's poems atm. Done 'Father and Child', 'At Mornington', 'The Violets', and 'Mother Who Gave Me Life'.
So yeah, this video has been kind of helpful, I'll check out the rest later.
Respect bro!
