All of our ancestors once embraced some kind of religion that we never knew about or embraced ourselves..that includes the Persians too..people who lived in Arabia or Europe were idol worshipers or polytheistic and are all now either Muslims or Christians..

@Troggyhordesman Indeed he would have had a small army. He nevertheless managed to subdue Media and Babylon, then march west to defeat Kroesus and the peoples of Anatolia, and the Anatolian Greeks. He must have been a fantastic tactician and strategist to have achieved that. Shame he had to perish fighting Turks near the Amu Darya.
