  • No one understands my handwriting anyway... I guess I'll just use MuseScore.

  • I have one thing to say to people like andrew.

THANK. YOU. I am a neophyte singer and i have an instrument that i want to play but my book that teaches me how to play it is based on music theory and sheet music.

So again - thanks a bunch!

  • thank u so much

    one love

    peace :-)

  • I dont know when ppl are gonna realize that you dont need to dwell on musical theory to play music... Ill tell you what you do need though is very good timing to make your music actually make sense. Good timing is all you need, and thats it. When ever you play make sure you have a metronome or just tap your foot. Take it from me, a guy who learns by ear timing is all you need. Ive been noticing that ppl who are good at sheet music are sooo very sucky at performing. They forget about tempo.

  • @MeistroMac91 I must say that I understand completely what you are meaning to describe, however I believe an equal amount of importance should be placed the learning of music theory. It is a universally accepted standard, and is a very nifty lesson to understand when playing or singing with a group, and even lonesome in order to accomplish the "sound" you wish to acquire.

  • @MissWanderlily All you really need to know is your majors and minors for those are the 2 main ones. Musical theory was made by one person and one person only. Johan Sebastien Bach was his name. And now were all expected to follow it. Thats living like a Nazi right there.

  • :) this all helps so much, its helping for my class work :D

  • I came to this video to learn music theory. I left with a knowledge of what the basic lines in sheet music are.

    How helpful.

  • These videos are great! How can anyone dislike this video? This young man is taking time out of his own day and helping people for FREE that cannot afford it. I think what he is doing is great and I'd love to hear the ridiculous reasons of the 66 people that chose to dislike this video. Keep up the great work and I look forward to learning more from you!

  • Thank You,, ThankYou,, Thank You,,

  • Really. He's a good teacher, but what's the point of showing how to draw the clef if it's on the board?

  • Jeeeeeees... Just go to the point!!!!!!

  • Nice Tips, by the way is this the Sherminator?

  • You forgot about the alto clef!

  • Still good people over the earth! Thank you so much for teaching us.

  • Hopefully, after all these decades, I'll finally understand HOW and WHY Frank Sinatra sounded so awesome. Also how his biggest band leaders, Billy May and Nelson Riddle, achieved such incredibly complex yet perfectly done imagery.

  • i dont get it..wut is a music theory??

  • Are u canadian? U say out weird lol

  • Hello Andrew, i am a subscriber to your uploads, may I include that I am finding your piano lesson uploads very helpful, thank you. I am on my 5th lesson and try my best to practice, I've just found out that you do theory lessons as well. i was wondering is it recommended that I shud go through the theory vids as well? Or shud i do it wen ive finished with the practical or shud i balance it in that i can do both, pls tell me ur opinion.

  • @oneprincesslea Thank you haha.

  • As I am sure you know there are more clefs than just treble and bass. A viola player uses the C clef in the alto or viola position. I sang in choirs, played piano and cello. When I picked up the viola there was this horrible new clef to learn - drove me nuts. I had seen the C clef rarely in choral music in the tenor position, but there it made sense as an extension of the bass clef.

Organ music has three clefs - so The Really Grand Staff? :) Thanks for the lessons!

  • Thank you so much Andrew :')

my parents doesn't care about me and I said that I wanted to learn piano for so many times...

I love music and I have no idea..but suddenly saw all your tutorials..TQ SO MUCH!

  • @shernizliew Hello. There are many good books to learn music theory and to learn about music. You know, singing does not require an instrument. Do you sing at all?

  • Thank you a lot!!!! It's soooooooo helpful for me!!!!! Love you

  • wait a min ... by the end of this series will I be able to create my own music ? if yes , then ill continue , if no ,. then i skip this video ..... RePLy

  • @BlueMonstter Something like this is only as good as what you make of it. I watched about 3/4 of the course and I can assure you it's solid material and definitely worth watching. However, it's not like you're being sprinkled with fairy dust. Knowledge is power, but if writing complex music was that black and white, it wouldn't be so special. I don't know you or your musical background, but it will definitely help your case either way! Hope this helps ^_^

  • Thank you for sharing this. I recently decided to take up theory and this tutorial seems like it will assist in getting me on track.

  • Thanks dude! This really helps alot. I have been playing bass guitar a while now but never explored much into theory, this is really going to help alot.

  • simply like that i was about to give up the hope to learn music ,i didnt care to it wen i was in school but after finish high school i start search to do and i want just to tell u i didnt find anyone start from zero wz this simple explain in the whole world but u do

  • thank you SO much! i used your course to cover the basics so i wont seem like a retard compared to ppl that have enough money to get lessons and have been playing all their lives. ive only been playing guitar for two years, but i know this really is going to help me in the long run. i know im improving everyday thanks to wonderful people like you!

  • This video won't load ... Damn it all to hell.

  • Thi

  • youre awesome! youre doing this for free!

  • dude thank you so much for posting this, i'm trying to apply to berklee and or NYU and i NEED this knowledge in order to do so. your really a major help keep it up bro!

  • 50 videos just on music theory?!?

  • awesome...thanx!!!

  • "people who study music theory are like, super duper trooper, like, i mean. sharp. like really sharp. like as sharp as a, uh. ya know? like a... like the really sharp part of a knife."

  • @AuthenticProphetic Ironic, right?

  • i think i can skip the first few videos, i want to start at chord progression cuz i get intervals and notes, chord formation, and stuff.

  • the best!

  • this guy is brilliant AND gorgeous. :-o

  • 1. You are a saint for putting all this up. I've played music since I began on violin at 12, picked up guitar at 19, and was never good at either (still learning guitar), but I was always just barely passable as a violin student, my ability to read music was so-so, and my understanding of even the basest music theory entirely phoned in.

    2. I love your hair.

    3. I love your suit.

    4. Where I paused the video to type this, I notice your bracelet. That's nice, too.

  • Many would dislike this because this way of teaching isnt as authentic as its taught through schools. To me, I believe that since we're bounded with advanced technology in the modern time, this can be considered to be much easier, cheaper, and even safer way. But I dont guarantee that you'll be the next Beethoven! That requires an actual education that gives the proper ability. Thank you Lypur for expressing your teachings to the whole world (of Youtube lol)

  • Staff of Gandolf!

  • Thank God for people like you

  • You see I'm a Electronical producer and I'm so thankful for this (:!

  • I LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!

  • dude, YOU ARE AWESOME. Thank you!!!

  • Wow thanks alot sir, my piano teacher gave up on me because i was kind of a beginner, but now i can play many pieces perfectly because of you, i can read music like a book :P

  • Thank you, Andrew for going out of your way to teach others like myself who really want to learn music. You're an amazing person.

  • Thank you for the free lessons. I'm following the piano course and now this theory course.

    Greetings from the Netherlands

  • hi thank you!!!!! this video was great! what a lifesaver you are!!!!!!!

  • Thank you!

  • You are wonderful.your dedication has touched my heart. You got yourself a new subscriber

  • music and math is hard because it forces you to use parts of your brain that don't get used everyday.

  • who in their right mind could dislike this? This is brilliant!!!

  • Thank you very much man this is awesome!!! I have been playing guitar for a while, but never new theory so it was difficult. Hopefully this will help me though =)

  • u r such a cool teacher!!

  • thanks so much! where can i meet this grandma?

  • Thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you!!!!!!

  • Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge. It is very much appreciated.

  • It looks like I've now found something worthwhile to do in the coming winter months! Thank you so much for taking the time to make this series of videos. Reading notation is something that I've wanted to learn for a long while now, but due to many reasons I have always found it something that is hard to get started on. I've bought many instructional books over the years, but they always seem to lose me after the first few pages! Thank you again!!

  • I agree with these previous comments. THANK YOU!!! I am older and can play the harp, but I can't read music. Thanks to you, I hope to change that!!! You are AWESOME!!!

  • Thank you :') ♥ A friend told me to watch your videos. He said you showed music theory in such an interesting and mind blowing way. Thank you so much for dedicating your time and energy to helping others! I wanna hug you! hahaha! I look forward to being you're student :3

  • I like how you emphasize free. xD

  • Thank you so much Andrew! God bless you in all... xoxo =D

  • I used to play piano for about 2 or three years when I was around 8 till i slowed on my practice habits and eventually had to stop which i then switch to french horn in my middle school band... this ended eventuall during freshman year. I am currently trying to learn guitar and for someone who has played music for a good chunk of their life i have all up and forgot music theory completely somehow ( idk how ) but i feel I will want to know it for guitar and am happy i found your videos THANKSALOT

  • I love your teaching which is clear and concise. Your kind personality also shines through. Wish you could teach me personally.

  • I really wish I'd started learning music when I was younger lol... Then maybe my childhood years wouldn't have been a waste and my teenage life right now would be completely different

  • @PopTartNeko "The past DOESN'T equal the future"....Tony Robbins.....you can anything, just set your mind to it....

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! Im soo excited to get a music theory class for free and you teach very well!!

  • Youre the best. The only place in internet where everything is taught from beginning for an illiterate (music) like me :) Great work. keep it up

  • Thank you soooo much for your videos! :-) You're such a great man! I've always wanted to learn to play the piano but couldn't afford it, and also wanted to know more about music :-) I really admire you for what you're doing. A big hug from me! :-)

  • hey man thanks for the vid. i give u props for helping the needy

  • Thank you so much

  • Awsome, thank you for the free lessons on music theory dude. I haven't studied this for a few years, great refresher :P

  • how do you play when same clef is written in the grand staff ? I mean two bass or two treble clef in the grand staff sometime s small clef in the middle of another clef

  • There are two staves the left hand which is the bass cleff and the treble which is the right hand. Hope this helps lollyhobbid.
