Eugenia, I looked up the SX200 IS, now discontinued. Like the Canon A1200, the zoom is not usable in video. Not too serious, as It's not good practice. I like videoing music performances, too. Search my videos for "Karen Hall". I like the Wye Oak videos you did.

@jandbrare The new models over $180 all have optical zoom support now in video mode. The replacement for the SX200 is the SX230 HS, and has optical zoom. However, it's not a good practice to zoom *while* recording, it makes things look cheesy, like some '70s B-movies. First you zoom to the level you want to record, focus there, and then record.
