@Mercilessmercyable I'm 11 and I'm a game developer and a Linux user. I speak, read and write two languages perfectly. English is NOT my native language. You really don't know the "mental power" of an 10/11-year-old, in a way. Trust me.
Also, I first went to school when I was 6. I never went to kindergarten or stuff like that. ^_^
I love how she is using all kinds of words that kindergarteners/first graders or clearly young children surely can't understand. I especially like the beginning "you guys have all heard the expression..." LMAO Hey lady, the kids are like 6 years old, they probably don't have any idea!!!!
And you lot are a bunch of sour spoilsports. No wonder kids aren't interested in the traditional sciences anymore when you've got nanny state, litigation culture, wimps that fret and sweat over every practical demonstration.
ur a moron liquid nitrogen wont harm u the heat on ur body will vaporize the liquid nitrogen in a milisecond so plz dont post any thing u dono and these are trained personnel not morons shoving dry ice in a 2 litre bottle and blowing em up
they did this about 3 years ago at my old school peters. the violin teacher's husband was a scientist and he brought over liquid nitrogen and then the next day we were able to bring something to freeze. :] i used my shoe :]
Most of the air *is* Nitrogen. The amount lost would probably barely even be detectable. I'm betting you a match wouldn't even go out (in the audience, not in the explosion itself)
this is not unsafe at all, that fog you see moving onto the floor is actually water vapor. It is the same as seeing your breath in the winter. yes LN2 vaporizes at a ratio of 1 to 700 but no more than 1/2 to 1 liter is needed, and it is not all vaporized instantly. LN2 will hover over warmer liquids only vaporizing the outside. think of a small amount of water placed on and incredibly hot pan, it just hovers over the pan.
are you guys fucking nazis or something. that much nitrogen in a room that size is like trying to breath underwater dumbasses its allways fun until someone suffocates or gets frostbite.
THis is a very very stupid thing to do. That is a LOT of liquid to be vaporizing that quickly. because the vapor is still cold it will settle back onto the ground rapidly and displace the air there producing a significant oxygen deficiency. look at the geometry of the audience BELOW the stage. there is a REAL RISK OF OXYGEN DEPRIVATION AND ASPHYXIATION HERE. VERY STUPID to do this indoors and with kids no less.
It's an auditorium. Unless someone is sleeping on the floor, there's not really much risk. Of course, the problem is that if someone /does/ asphyxiate, they'll end up on the floor. But if you open the doors, even that risk will dissipate very quickly.
I didn't know that either at that age! But these kids now days are much smarter than I was at there age, and they did understand what she was saying because they had studied it in class..

When the person was pouring the liquid out, she wasn't wearing any gloves. =/
nukedoom3000 3 years ago
You're not supposed to because:
Liquid nitrogen can go on the hands and it will RUN OFF leaving the hands a little chilled and stiff.
If you wear gloves and some accidentally goes into the gloves it's trapped on your hands/fingers and you're screwed.
