if you liked this check out the blue horizon jazz band! my grandfather plays bass with stan along with tons of other excellent musicians. im 16 and listen to metal but i saw them last night and they rocked!
What a great session! I treasure my NBEJB album with The Mooche as one of my all time favorites. I grew up hearing that album over and over as my old man would play it. I think he must have played behind you guys in Davenport or New Orleans, with his Slabtown Marching Society. He loved your band. Me too! That's Bob Pilsbury on piano, right? I love that solo. All of the solos, really. Fabulous energy. Thanks, man.
I,ve just got a cd stan mcdonald and the blue horizon jazzband recorded in 1992 - is it really the same guy? it says he was norn in 1898 ??? He's a tremendous sopsax blower
Outstanding, even if recorded in 1975! Too bad the band still doesn't have a tuba! Eli, why don't you get back together with the band? I would travel many miles to hear a reunion!
When I hear this Black Eagles than I'm thinking about the first time you where in Holland on the BREDA JAZZ FESTIVAL and my jazzclub JAZZ MINE in Landgraaf. It was also great to be your guests.
wow, amazing. Not only is this my absolute favorite song, its played so well. Im a jazz tubist as well. I totally love each and everyone of your solos, you are all real pros! Amazing yall!
Eli, It was the Summer of '77, Sacramento at the Delta Queen - your first set of the festival, that we met. How wonderful to see you youthful players including Stan McDonald. You all actually look better and more healthful now than you did then - how does that work? Thanks again for sharing yourselves with the universe as we know it. Randy
Tubaist Randy Keller from Seattle made me aware that you had started your own youtube site. Gratulations! Obviously you had the film from the 1975 Indianapolis fest as well, fantastic. About the only jazz competition in trad jazz in the last 50 years or so. Your band was one of the three winners.
A real pleasure to see - thanks for posting
