Of course, you start with only Simon and Alucard. As you move on in Story Mode, characters' stories are unlocked. Once you beat Trevor's story, you unlock Shanoa's story, then Death's, then Dracula's, then you unlock True Story Mode. Beat True Story Mode with Shanoa (as well as the other unlockable characters) and she'll be available on every mode.
But, of course, if you have a DS and a copy of Order of Ecclesia, you can unlock her and Aeon right at the start.
That's a good new, since it looked like another crappy Fanservice Naruto Whaterver Game, at least judging by some reviews (Castlevania Dungeon and 1Up).
But, at least watching the video and judgind by user's comments, it looks at least above average (and pretty much better than any naruto fan game.)

To me, Yuri Lowenthal did a great job doing Alucard's voice acting. I just hope they make more games of him. It is never Castlevania without Alucard!

It's done by pressing whatever your Super Finisher button is. On my scheme (GC Controller Config. C), it's the B button.

And the accursed Obata's chara design even looks badass in the game.
