specatacular composition, very traditional sound, you certainly have a great eal of talent, don't waste it, compose compose compose! Be prolific, add to the traditions and I have no doubt that people will be playing your music hundreds of years from now!
Hey friend! Sorry to be so delayed in responding these days...just not much time on youtube. Anyway, I think this is GREAT! I would love to get a chance to take some lessons with you. A great piece...love it.
thats a brillaint compostiton you did! I think it would be better if the guitar was recorded a bit quieter so we could hear the whistle better, but I love the way you put the instruments together in the video like that. I agree, it would be awsome to have your tune on thesession! I'll get round to recording some tunes for you at some point, I need to practice like crazy though and get up to sctratch :)
I agree with the others, it reminds me very much of tinwhistler. It's beautiful, and I especially like your original. You'll have to put on thesession one of these days.
By the way...
I'm thinking about something, and I think you know what it is ^^
Thank you! You are welcome to make a video response any time you want. Will you use fiddle, mandolin or banjo, or all three of them if you make the video? : )
Probably banjo. I can't accompany myself (melody only for me), so I'll just go with my strongest instrument. It may be awhile before I do this, but I'll send it as a video response when I do.
haha, love this.... =D n thanks for the comment on my video... I'll try to put more up soon! keep up the lovely playing there, both on whistle and guitar..... (do you sing? haha, we'd be all the same musician if you did :P)
Thanks! I used Imovie to record it from my macbook cam, and Final Cut Express to edit the two clips together. If you use windows you should consider Adobe Premiere or Sony Vegas.
Nice pairing for a set...and I do really like your original composition -- beautiful and melancholy. How do you synchronize the two instruments on the recording?
I recorded the guitar first. After that, I recorded the low whistle with the guitar track playing in the background (on a pretty low volume). in the editing process I add the two tracks together. The original guitar track has more volume than the guitar from the background, on the whistle track, so it's mainly the original guitar track you can hear.

Really well played on both tunes. I might do a video response some time soon, if you don't mind having one. Five from me.

I can't say that I sing, no. I can sing, but my voice is not exactly the best instrument I have heard, to be honest with you :P
I'll leave the singing with you, as you have a great singing voice, and I will stick to the guitar, whistles and irish flute for now : )
You have nice original compositions btw.

That is indeed a compliment. He and Michael McGoldrick was the reason I started playing the whistle : )
abraxas123 2 years ago
I agree with Jan 100%. Tinwhistler was one reason I started playing too... but you're much, much better than I am. Keep up the great work!

McGoldrick, Flook, Deiseal ...... all masters of their craft .
But its people like yourself , who offer beginners like myself the greatest inspiration .
You probably aspire to play like Mcgoldrick ,while i, as a humble beginner on the Low Whistle, aspire to play as well as you. LoL
Keep the tunes coming . !
Whistle / Guitar combo is fantastic.

Very good in my opinion, especially the jig "Trip to Galway" witch you composed.
