Just saw a Jewel song about Salina on FB tonight, so did a search on Salina, and found this great song. I really like this group! I'm from Salina, too. Salina, KS. I didn't much care for Salina as a kid, but now would love to live there. Great town to grow up in. Our music (for teens) was very lacking. Wish we would have had some great music like this. Love it-gonna go listen to some more of their songs now. Like the discussions on here-w/o youtube free listens, I wouldn't know of this.
Salina KS has a secret meaning to me: i take a greyhound bus about twice a year from Kentucky to Washington State and back. Salina is the point at which i'm either so sleep deprived that i start to hallucenate, or the most Jack Kerouac On The Road-esque my brain waxes.
im from the Netherlands and last week i found out there are 4 places in the world called Salina. also one in italy... it's an island and it's really beautiful!
This is one of their best IMO, I just wish they could have mentioned New Orleans for some strange reason, and shortened the ''home'' with the same vocal pitch as the previous ones.
liltrickster9868- You do realize that Salina is a real town. My dad grew up there. It doesn't matter if you're name is spelled the same. It has nothing to do with you or your ballet. Just enjoy the song or stop commenting.

I hate this song. It sucks. My name is Salina. Only it's pronounced differently (sa-lee-na). Rhymes with ballerina. I've won over twenty ballet contests by the time I was ten. This song sucks

i just saw them in ithaca, ny last night. it was a sold out show despite the bad weather, and the place went nuts when they sang the verse about new york. awesome show.
@InfiniteWit i get that you're trying to help the band out and everything, but music is art. not a product. art should be freely distributed. it in many ways goes against the basic concept of art itself to demand money to experience it.
@InfiniteWit I do pay for the music, and yet still listen to some of it online; it's either more convenient to tab in the browser, or there's a specific song I hadn't heard before and therefore will probably consider buying in the future. All arguments about music rights aside, having the ability to hear their songs initially is what made me fall in love with The Avett Brothers and want to support them (albums and shows etcetera) today. I think this availability is great for everyone involved.
I love these guys! Being a "Carolina Girl" from NC, can't help but love this song... I live only about 20 minutes from where they're from. They ROCK! Can't wait to see them in concert with DMB this summer! YAY!!!

Having these songs here literally alters the course of my life. For the better. It was a light, a help, when I needed it more than anything else in the world.
I grew up in Salina KS. My grandma ran The Sale Barn. (live stock auction) she made the best cinnamon rolls. Awesome song
