Opening track on their first album, and it's tempting to think it was Nick Simper's message to Purple: "You want it heavy!?" Certainly it's a dynamic opener a la Speed King. Like Mustaine after Metallica fired him, Simper had a point to prove.

The first version of this album I bought was the '84 reissue, with a new, yellow cover, and Vulture Blood became the title track. Excellent band.

The production on the vocal is totally wrong and this sounds like a refried Allman Brothers riff. Liked the keyboard solo.
