First Pop wasn't a wall run.... No kick into the wall what so ever... Don't push down push into the wall and bring your other knee up followed by the other propelling your momentum upwards
I personally use K-Swiss Ariakes *Light Mesh* and yes! My second pair recently got stolen but they were so worth it... The shock absorbtion is amazing if your landing correctly. The grip on the shoe makes it feel like you can walk up walls. If your going to get shoes get Ariake Light Mesh... Only problem is there impossible to get in the UK. I had to import mine from Latvia
@shrebeady thanks man. I've been using some old beat up shoes I used a year ago while running cross country. The traction has just been terrible. Anyway I'll check out the Ariake Light Mesh and hopefully i'll be able to conquer a few more obsticles.
@Kirby98786 I have the same problem, but when you really look you'll find there are a lot more places than you'd think. For example, some window sills are great from arm jumps/cat leaps, but you wouldn't notice at first glance. Keep searching. Parks and especially schools are great, or try a gymnastics gym.
see i can do all the shit you can do but i know that its beginner standard i want to see you jump off a 30 foot bridge and commit suicide you genocidal freak!!
I'm just learning I've done a pop vault before on a fence but it wasn't flat there was a little ledge I used to pop myself up my shoes were shit anyway. Now I got new shoes I bet I could do this on a fence at my school. I can already 2 hand vault over it if I jump really high but the pop vault would flow better
Try to avoid using the knees. That can cause damage in the long term. Pull you feet right up onto the wall and when you do that it flows nicer as well.
Thats only really on landings isn't it? its not like the pop vault puts that great an amount of pressure on them? and without the reverb force from the knees blocking against the wall you can't do a pop.
I think he means try not to put your knee on the all when you are doing this. It may not feel like a lot of pressure on them but a small amount of pressure over and over can cause damage.
@ParkourBlog In the long run, the using your knees to get on top of an obstacle will put stress on it and make them sore, causing it to be difficult to Parkour. Also, with practice, using your foot to get on top of an obstacle proves to be much faster then using your knee.
@Flatline89 - You're a base head... the knees are damaged from falls not from pushing off of things. According to what you just said walking is really bad for the knees as well (yeah im aware walking does eventually cause the knees to break down slightly, but im just saying the move is no more dangerous than walking.)
I believe he means the fact that it looks like you are kinda jamming your toes into the wall. I assume you are actually hitting with the ball of your foot and immediately pushing down to get the proper traction, though.
nah i am hitting the wall with my toes, they bend and my arms pull me up on the wall, as they pull, i jump up from the toes and coz of the lift i get its basically like i'm jumping up and over. I dnt see wots wrong with that
Your doing nothing wrong, Ignore assholes like that, Ive been doing parkour for 4 years and run a small little group down in stratford. thats exactly how i was taught and will proform the Pop Vault. 5* and brilliant demo.
nice, i was wondering how to get over those medium sized walls a little faster than i do. i always put both my feet on the wall the jumped off, didn't think i could just vault over it
Most useful move in parkour. I made sure I could do it perfectly on walls up to 7 feet.

land on the balls of your feet, you are landing flat on them and it wont hurt as much when you land on the front half of your feet.
