Remember ,the 8800gtx has a 384 bus , Mine overclocked to Ultra Speed Plays Metro 2033 on Normal at 45f+ps and that was on an e6600 @ 3.00ghz....

How the hell did you even get it to run like this? I have a Q6600 Quad (2.4GHz stock), 3 GB RAM and an HD 4890 and on 1680x1050 all medium 30, 30, 0, 0 I get 20-35 FPS.

@Milkshakman ,Get that cpu to 3ghz + , You should do 3.2 easily and overclock your ram (and Tighten up the Ram timings) and video card and Patch the game...

@mrjamesb56 Yeah I might overclock my CPU as I just upgraded my cooler. Dropped 25C idle and thats only at half fan speed! I'm not sure about RAM overclocking though. My current RAM is 800 and I don't want it to overheat. I've heard of CPU coolers also working as RAM coolers but mine is situated above the RAM.

it might be that ur system or the grapic card is not cool enough. try open up the grapic fan clean it and apply new thermal paste, worked for me.

....8800 gtx was "king" of the mountain but after trying an ATI 4770 ddr5 , I'm switching , a little higher frame rate but it's a Much smoother card ,frame rate doesn't dip nearly as much plus it's a dirt cheap card,...only thing I don't like (have no reason why) Nvidia cards play emulators like psx2 much better....

mine pc 'was' shit ... ;) now its upgraded to q9400 oc and GF GTX 260 and gta is flying now on max settings on cca 40+ fps.

but back then on 8800gtx , i guess it gave me such a good performance thanks to clean pc , try to clean yours too (tune up , oo defrag could help you out) secondly , the game was quite tweaked out to give such a smooth results on high settings

i didnt pay for it. i can say it was free. a sent 8800gtx back for reclamation. it wasnt broken but companies usually send back new card. 8800gtx was off the market so they sent me new 260gtx. pretty good deal i think :)

LOL gta just came out with a new patch that has added graphics settings in the menu. Now I cannot prove you wrong the settings are all different now.

Added water quality,shadow quality and reflection resolution sliders.

Added Definition and Vsync toggles in graphics settings.

You should get rid off shadow density, cuz they look crap anyway , and it has a major impact on your graphics card and makes it provide alot less FPS, turn it to 0 and put Vieuw to 50 or so and Detail 100, play a bit with the settings, until you find a balance between nice FPS and nice graphics.

mine graphics r relly nice , no complains about it.

and the shadow denisty is an option for those dynamic shadows forced by a movable source of light ... those shadows prodiced by cars headlights at night. it has nothing to do with those daily ones ...and they look really nice with the p filter im using and decent res. no noise or grainess at all

Try settings the textures to Medium and then setting View Distance as far as it goes. How many FPS will you be getting then?

BTW I've also got an 8800 GTX(@ stock), 4gb of RAM, and an Intel Q6600 (@ stock).

Playing at res of 1680x1050 with texture quality on MEDIUM and render quality on HIGHEST.

View, Detail and Vehicle stuff at 50. Shadow thingy at 8.

Average FPS: about 30 FPS, sometimes drops to 15/20 FPS (at night) but I don't care lol :D atleast I can play it without crashes etc ^^

I dislike it when you put the Saturation to high, because it messes with the reality of the game, I use 22' BenQ G2110W, idk if 'Dynamic Contrast' is the same as Magic Color thingy, but I can't use it because im not using yet DVI-D cable, my monitor supports also differend modes such as Standart - Movie - sRGB - Photo - Dynamics, and has a Demo for Senseye-Photo, Idk what it does.
