i once sent this to the love of my life and told her it reminds me of her. when she asked why i said because she is beautiful like this song is. even though she is not with me i feel the same.
Lovely, lovely, lovely. A side note: they stayed at my apartment once in the 80s, when they played a gig in St. Louis. As humans, they were also lovely, lovely, lovely.
I saw these guys in a bar in LA...I think it was 1984 or 1985...My cousin gave me his ID to get in. I remember seeing John Doe from X and that guy from the Blasters in line to see the show and I was like WHOA! These guys are seeing this band too? I wish I could remember where it was....
@TinoMacAndCheese Same here only my friend plays drums and I play bass. We've been playing since we were freshman in high school. We have a band now but this song brings a tear to my eye when I think of all the good times we had.
I had the pleasure of seeing this band in 1984. They passed around the ballots. D was so charming "Hello Ladies, might I interest you in some...art." It was so cheesy, but so cute. He put his arms around us and steered us into the art area. We wanted to buy something so badly, but we were sorely broke, and didn't even pay that night to get into the club.
Even though I wasn't around at this great time of US underground music, I so feel like I'm in some basement watching these guys when I hear this song. I envy anyone who saw them.
Notice how nobody has commented with something like "LOL DIS BAND SUX!!11." That's because it's hard to not like them. The music is so free of bullshit, so sincere. Truly a great band.
kraftwerk beatles minutemen fugazi bad brains ramones. (i'll toss in keith morris's nervous breakdown with black flag too but that's a song ...)
best creative bands of all time no question. as far as groups go you guys....just just tx minutemen. can't express how much this band means to me. sure i'm not alone.
you go Bob!! :) if i may brag it up *cough* (zeech eh??)....look inside the I against I record. the inside pic of HR jumping over teh crowd...the kid in teh flipped up thrasher painters cap banging fist on stage. dat be me.
my mom let me go to that show, not sure why she was so cool but.....
Years and years after I didn't have a cassette player in my car, I still always had my Minuteman tape in the glove compartment. This was my favorite of their songs. So pure.
this is seriously one of the most honest, real, touching songs i've ever had the pleasure of hearing. d. boon was an inspiring and amazing person and has been, and will continue to be, missed greatly!
Fartsnfire..missed like all those that we love and those that can sing from the heart but we'll never see the like again. D.Boon...rest in pace you sizeable angel, M. Watt keep playing those guitars and George..I'll arm wrestle you anytime dude!!

The part where he says 'punk rock changed our lives' is at the beginning of a Sublime song. I think it's Waiting for My Ruca, but I could be wrong.
