In Islam, we have something called "shirk" which means perjuring ourselves in front of Allah. Ms. Goodling, after having gone to a religious school that Regents makes itself out to be, seems to have a sense of the same thing--to not lie. It would be quite a difficult task to be in the shoes of Ms. Goodling these past few months and on the particular day of the questioning. She has my respect, and to Ms. Goodling, may God give you wisdom to realize which among our leaders blasphemous.
Btw, did y'all know that Ashcroft changed hiring practices for the Civil Rights Division of the DOJ back in 2002? (That was the Beta version for Gonzales.) This article will give you much information ... especially if you bring today's perspective to it [replace (dot) and (slash)]]: boston(dot) com(slash) news(slash) nation(slash) washington(slash) articles(slash) 2006/07/23/civil_rights_hiring_shifted_in_bush_era/
Rove was involved in the conspiracy to take away the votes of black service people serving Iraq by sending letters to the homes of soldiers, marked "do not forward."
When they came back undelivered, they said: Aha! Illegal voter registered from a false address.
Using this and other methods, they invalidated the votes of over 3 million voters.
Greg Palast obtained some of the Rove e-mails on the caging lists operation by registering the domain GeorgeWBush . ORG -- seems some members of the Bush regime aren't too internet savvy and accidentally sent e-mails to the org instead of the com.
This was reported by the BBC, but the US corporate media blacked it out.
we need more black politicians. The republicans on this committee did an excellent job of giving softball questions and in some cases giving no questions at all. But that doesn't matter, Gonzales has been caught lying to congress under oath (and talking to people to get their story straight when he told the senate committee he won't talk to anybody to 'protect the integrity of this investigation'). Gonzales, you're going down you lying, ideologically-driven disgrace to American politics.
not only did this girl and I use the term loosely, lie, decieve, cry wolf and handle a job that someone with a hell of a lot more experience would be more credible...she has the voice from hell. Didn't people just want to knock her out for that? Talk about dumb blonde jokes, her picture should be next to the definition. That or get her together with David Beckham and run for your life.
Unfortunately, they probably did NOT show this anywhere on network television. Did anyone see this clip on TV last night?
I have another question. Did ANYONE on the Committee ask questions about the White House side and not just Gonzalez? Goodling was the LIAISON but I didn't catch any info from her on the other half of her job.
(mister TERRORIST MEMO boy will be booked on a CIA Flight, a la Jet Blue, to Europe & Syria in due time, but my ruby heels are clicking under a demo Congress & President)
gonzales is a stone about every GOP Congressperson's ankle.
The SURGE! 'benchmark' bush made for September is popcorn fun-fun-fun time! the Reich-Wing Congress is wearing NASA diapers now.
And if the neocon Republicans are such shining examples of forthrightness and truth-telling, then why do Karl Rove et al. use private email servers (provided by the RNC) to communicate, in direct violation of the Presidential Records Act? Why would you break the law to keep your communications private-- unless you were up to something much more sinister?
So... you "smart ppl" are totally dismissing the fact that her testimony amounts to an accusation of perjury on the part of the Attorney General, because it's not a direct link to the top Republicans in the executive branch? I mean, come on, she definitely mentions that the White House had a part in all this.
fuck you Piglosi! take some more shrooms, wipe that stupid grin off your face and quit blinking your eyes like a windshield wiper, you are soooooooo anoying. Go play Grandma and leave the politics to smart ppl
However, she is protecting Bush--why did she say there would be no impeachment before the election--so those controlling the voting machines would let the Dems win?
I watched the whole thing live on c-span today.I was appalled by the Republicans on this committee in the way they used their time allotted for questions. It seemed to me they used their time for speeches about how nothing has been done wrong.
"The mills of the Gods grind slowly, yet they grind exceeding fine." It will take a while longer, but Gonzo is on his way out. "We the People" still need to keep the pressure on, as it is only the people making noise that has brought us this far, that and the fact we voted in this new congress. I am so glad I woke up as I am beginning to get some of my self-esteem back; I am an X-Republican. (cringe)
The epitome of incompetence.

By the way lt5lee, since when did you start defending customers of the male prostitute "The Bulldog," or are you also one of his customers?

Goodling testified about this, it's called "caging lists" but it seemed to have gone right over the heads of the members of congress questioning her.
The program was run by one of Rove's operatives named Tim Griffin. They fired one of the prosecutors and gave him the job.
What they need to look at on the prosecutor firings is who got the jobs.

"As a lameduck president, I can do what I want."
Good point. But also important is that the Vice President isn't running, either. So the whole administration has no incentive to please the public.
As far as I can figure, this election is the first time since 1952 that neither the sitting president nor vice-president is running.

There is most surely a reason. The challenge for us is to find out what that reason really was and correct it.
