This video doesn't add to Dixon's legacy. I realize he's old and washed up but this is not the George Dixon who went 70 rounds with Cal McCarthy, this is a shell
This was not a real fight, it is not recorded in Boxrec. That happened in 1906, the year Dixon retired, for me it looks like shows that old boxers agree to give for money.
@Alltimeboxing dont let that fool you, boxrec STILL arent up to date with all the newspaper decisions that are currently being added to these old-school guys' records
they are getting there, slowly but surely, but there is still alot missing, this could be one of them...
Even from this film one can see Dixion was the real deal. He is years past his best here. He must have been awesome in his prime. Unbelievale there is even film of him. There must be other gems of film still out there waiting to be discovered.
Wow - I didn't think any film of George Dixon existed. I know this is right near the end of his career (and life) but it's still good to see the great fighters of this golden era actually moving instead of just in stills.
@marcxopoco yes, people need to understand this was not a legit fight. fights were choreographed and shown in theaters. still nice to see footage of dixon.

Interesting, the style of boxing has become so much more professinal looking, they dont look professinal at all.

This is sham exhibition 4 years before Dixon died of alchoholism.
And years after he lost his title.
It would take a retard to think this was a legitimate "fight."

Look at that old-time front foot stomp by Dixon. You read about it concerning Gans. Here it is a bit earlier !!
Great post !
Thanks
