@TannerStreeter7 lol, jimi was cool and all, but this guy is a beast and jimi's like a little mouse in comparison... i mean jimi is one of the greatest song writers of his era, but this guys skills way surpass him.
the only reason someone would dislike this is coz they hate victor wooten for giving us the feeling that we need a zillion years(if not more) to catch up to his level of comfort while playing
I'm glad he knows all of his classical music too. Mixing in Grieg, Rossini, and Tchaikovsky with a funk rendition of a Beatles song is rather amazing.
@draciel80 learn to play piano, then move what you learn on there to the bass.....that's how he learned his tapping, root/bass on the left hand, lead on the right. and even understanding that i'm COMPLETELY LOST
No, but if you were a musician youd know what its like to play something on a certain instrument a lot and then switch. Its just sloppy cause your not used to it
@thebassiestbassist I am a musician. You don't know anything about me so don't say stuff like that. I manage to swap between playing 4 and 5 strings, 6 strings, guitars, basses, uprights and wider necks with only about 5 minutes between playing each to adapt.
@JPastorius3 that doesn't sound conceded at all...haha...but no I agree with you that the exact instrument should definitely not be a big deal to a good musician, but you do have to admit if you have one guitar you play a lot...theres an adjustment period when you switch to a different instrument. I mean, I think every musician has their "Baby" which plays for them like no other, licks flow forth like nectar and ambrosia from the gods. Very powerful the bond between musician and instrument
To be honest he's probably one of the most accurate and skilled bassist's out there. No person can just say, oh he's sloppy because he's not 100% Accurate, because it's not technically possible, no one is perfect and obviously he can't hit every last note without some error.
he was playin notes out of key on purpose. using it as a transition to his next part. he likes makin his performances into a show to entertain his views. plus most of what he does is improv. on the songs he has already so its not going to be perfect.

Ive often watched victor and thought hes a genius, but listening to this whilst typing something and im sorry but it sounds sloppy. Get some practice in Victor, you keep missing notes. There is nothing robotic about accuracy.
I think that he usualy plays this song on a tenor bass (not tune the same) an thats why it dousn't sound as it's suposed to. It's also a crappy microphone.
Can someone PLEASE tell me if there is either one of his solo albums or a Bela Fleck album with this song on it? I gotta pick it up this song is sooo nasty! thanx!
He is so much like Jaco was, but, if I remember...he plays a fretted bass
