Now I'm *really* puzzled about the authorship of "All Our Past Times" --- everybody keeps saying Clapton and Danko wrote it, but, in introducing the song in live-performance on the album "Just One Night", EC says it was written by a guy name of "Mercier Meriwether" (I'm guessing at the spelling). ???

There is an awesome version on the four CD set of The Band's: The Last Waltz done by Martin Scorsese (sorry about the spelling Marty). In my opinion there is no better concert movie, except for The Who's The Kids are Allright.

and dont forget its a duet with rick danko of the band. the lyrics are written about claptons friendship with richard manuel of the band, and there is a nice version of it on the bands last waltz 4cd-box

well, i guess it doesn´t have to be one or the other, it might just as well be a little of both. i read it in levon helm´s (drummer of the band) autobiography, called this wheel´s on fire. that could be one of the reason clapton chose to play it at the last waltz...
