  • She is really really hard to look at.

  • The most dangerous predator of liberals is the real world. They hide from it in college campuses

  • We must put the Federal reserve in bankruptcy, which will stop the bailout. There will be no health care until we stop the bailout.

    Go to LaRouchePACdotCom

  • people are so easily convinced to take a pessimistic view over a positive one. there are so many misconceptions people have taken to heart it astounds me. what we need now is not fear for change. we need a positive outlook on the future we shape. get over this petty bullshit about socialism, its what the corporation thunk up to make us the most afraid. we must not allow ourselves be denied what we deserve, health care for all... not just the rich.

  • @thisoldhate healthcare is not a fundamental right you idiot

  • LaRouche says we need a single payer system to make sure everything would work. But first dump the HMOs.

  • "Fascism should rightly be called corporatism; as it is the merger of corporate and government power." -- Benito Mussolini

  • We always thought the 1984, big brother scenario would be manifest by decrees of the hard right....as it turns out, as in the wild, animals only fall into traps they think are a reward. So the left brings about the very thing they feared, they give birth to the new technocracy, elitism and disempowerment at its finest, all in the name of social justice and equality. Pawns.

  • Well put. I might have to paraphrase this.

  • @WindRider707 Very well said - today's left appears to want to create their own version of a Brave New World that limits the rights of the individual and, hypocrtically, has become the antithesis of what we fought to change in the 60's

  • The commentator is the same woman that does the voice overs for New Scientist, I recognize her voice. Small world.

  • Progressive is just another word for Fascist!

    fas·cism [ fá shìzzəm ]

    noun

    Definition:

dictatorial movement: any movement, ideology, or attitude that favors dictatorial government, centralized control of private enterprise, repression of all opposition, and extreme nationalism.

wanting to dictate everything from what lightbulbs we use to what healthcare we can have. They have already seized the banking and auto industries, and are trying to seize healh care, energy and radio inustries

  • Page 16 of HR 3200 eliminates private insurance. E.g. a government hijack of healthcare.

The left is always trying to emulate 17th century Europe. More power to aristocracy and less power to individuals and their freedom to make choices for themselves.

  • asperin, would you prefer a privatized transportation system too? Private company roads that you use on a plan or pay per use system? After all you wouldn't want some government bureaucrat telling you where you can go.

  • Of course, everything private.

A Stateless society allows a free market to form.

  • asperin A Stateless society would send us back to Law of the Jungle, or at least back to Medieval Times with feudalism. I don't want to go back in time to be a serf and a peon and subservient to lords and nobles. I want to be a person with

    Constitutional rights.

  • Constitutional rights legitimizes the formation of a state that has the ability to regulate itself.

The supreme court, legislative branch and the president have more power than the individual.

What I'm saying is, lets secede, that way the federal government or any central institution cannot tax or tell people what to do.

Secession allows people to split up whenever they don't agree on the basics, Democracy is mob rule.

Humans have evolve(at least some) enough to live without the State.

  • Health care 2.3 Trillion.

800 Billion profit to wall street share holder under current system.

1.1 Million a day to lobby against single pay system.

    Uninsured good luck with it.

  • Conyers says that people deserve the same healthcare coverage than any senator and any representative...

Do we deserve the same mansions and Bentleys?

  • asperin You are talking apples and oranges. Healthcare is a human right. Every free nation on Earth has healthcare for all except the USA, which makes us not only lacking in human rights, but unhealthy as a people and uncompetitive on a global market scale. If you only think from a strictly monetary stance instead of human rights stand, then think on that .

  • That was not the point of my comment.

But I'll address your Statist point of view.

With the lie of "human rights" how many people have been able to profit from corruption? LOTS of people, look around, that is the worldwide culture we have today.

Lets profit from doing good, from helping others, we need profit, we need a free market.

  • asperin The "free market" is only "free" for corrupt Corporate Personhood, NOT we the people. This country IS all about WE THE PEOPLE, ya know... civil rights, human rights, constitutonal rights, NOT about profits over the people's lives. That's fascism, or going further back, that's feudalism.

  • No, Fascism is what YOU want, to impose YOUR way of living upon others.

I just want to secede from your group and have an open and free market, not Corporate Statism which you erroneously call Capitalism and think you will be able to modify it through Democracy(voting things out).

  • asperin No, Single Payer would come about by DEBATING & VOTING... with your way , it's the status quo or the highway, you are shoving for-profit private insurance corporations down our throats with expensive insurance for less healthcare!

  • I'm not shoving private insurance down your throat.

You are shoving your Socialized medicine down mine.

I don't want to pay taxes for things I might not use. I don't want the State into my life one bit.

  • asperin Voting Single Payer is not shoving it down your throat, that is the democratic process. If you don't want the United States of America or any government in your life, there are a few deserted islands somewhere on the face of the Earth.

  • Why you telling me to go to a deserted island if I don't like governments?

I don't want to leave, you leave with your government to that island. I'm here to stay and destroy your system.

  • asperin Ahh, at least you are an honest anarcho-fascist. Others of your ilk hide behind so-called "libertarian" label ( anarchy by elitists to overthrow WE THE PEOPLE)

  • "WE THE PEOPLE" doesn't exist.

We are all different, we have different goals.

America failed and will always fail because the State fails in bringing happiness and peace.

Too big, too many people to stand together and prosper.

Time to descentralize power, time to secede.

If you are against secession, you are the fascist.

I don't want to tell you how to live your life, I just want to separate myself from your system, and if it forced on me, then I destroy it.

    Don't twist my words.

  • asperin If you are for secession , than leave. We do not have to put up with anarchists that openly want to destroy the Constitution of the United States of America. You are a traitor, and your words are treasonous.

  • I did not sign the constitution and neither did you.

It's not my fault I was born in a place full of crazies believing in gods and following the State as a way of managing themselves.

Humanity needs a change, you would not disagree with me on that, and that change is that we stop this ideology that the State is needed to prevent chaos.

Let's separate, that way the federal government wont be able to tax large amounts of people.

That is the only way to descentralize power.

  • asperin Single Payer is not socialize medicine , that's the VA

  • eliminate the fraudulent income tax on labor that mostly goes to crooks, i think is a step in the right direction for more people being able to afford care...?? internal revenue is a gang

  • That is what these commies should worry about.

About ending a whole bunch of government programs that suck the funds away from the practical needs of "the people".

They settle for less with a Socialized healthcare scam instead of aiming for the eye of the storm.

  • in the end, you are a corporate shill and a neo-mccarthyite. your solutions do not support the people, they support rich people.

  • My solutions don't exist, I just want a free market for the people to find those solutions themselves.

Not like you who supports a coercive monopoly like the State.

  • This video was great! 5 stars *****

  • You know what?

Go ahead and let the states decide if they want single payer health care. But at the same time, give the states the option of kicking the govt. out of health care all together and unleash the free market.

Then lets sit back and watch the people flee the single payer states searching for better health care in the free market states.

  • That's YouTube for ya.

  • Fat bastards dont deserve health care !

Just stop eating and sittin around !!

  • If fucking ignorant Americans reject this they fucking deserve it.

  • woot... single payer is the way to go

  • wow this sounds like things are happening but i wonder when push comes to shove these progressives will lose their backbone?

  • These are democrats with a backbone. Support them!

  • This "Health Care" bill does not address the problem: the high costs of a hospital stay, the high costs of prescription drugs, and the high costs of medical treatment.

This "Health Care" bill is a mandatory insurance for everyone.

If you don't have insurance, you pay a fine. If you don't pay fine, you go to jail.

  • Lemurialn: The 2nd biggest reason health care costs so much is people who don't have insurance flood emergency depts (sometimes getting admitted to the hospital for days or wks) with injuries & conditions-- which should have been managed at a regular doctor's office-- racking up bills they can never pay. Those "losses" get shifted to the insured by raising the prices of bandaids to surgery.

The biggest reason prices are so high is the obscene executive salaries & dividends paid to shareholders.

  • this is basically jailing the working poor. America still doesn't get it.

  • This is an excellent report. Thank you.

  • A message to all Americans from a concerned Canadian. "Your government needs to treat you better, universal health care is a human right."

  • Spending money we do not have is not a human right.

Will Canada pay for us? We are broke and its getting worse - You tell us to spend more (aka tax future generations)

Why not get rid of mandating insurance with government compulsion?

Laysk Eye surgery not covered and the price goes down every year

Plastic surgery is not covered and the price goes down every year?

Why pay an extra cost of insurance so people can get the same services?

Think coverage is expensive now? Wait until its Free

  • coverage will not be free, shows how much you know about a single payer healthcare. The problem is that the US pays more than anyone for health care yet americans get the least care in return. can you explain to me why the private health insurers would spend 180 million dollars just to attack the Obama plan ? becuase it will cut into their profit.

i don't think it will go through as your politicians are in the pockets of the health insurance companies

  • Drgood

Its wrong what insurance companies have pulled off but is was government who created them to have this power and now they have set artificial prices they can pay with high premiums paid by customers

Tell me why we even need Insurance Government or Private?

If we got rid of insurance companies prices would drop but if we replace them with Government insurance companies prices will just go back up paid by tax payers

Plastic surgery and laysk = no insurance = lower prices each year

  • i don't understand how having a public company competing with private insurance would raise prices ?

if anything it would keep the private insurance companies honest. i live in Canada we pay less than americans yet everyone in canada is covered. The system isn't perfect but most canadians are happy with it. we pay less becuase we don't have to pay greedy executives or shareholders. i am against people profiting from sickness and disease. Thats my personal opinion.

  • why pay the added cost of insurance governmental of Private?

It is an additional cost we pay that inflates the prices setting artificial prices -

I'm telling you I agree with getting rid of the insurance compulsion through government I just do not see your reason to inflate prices with Governmental insurance -- Its like you are Ok with governmental insurance people getting rich and greedy and cannot see they are one in the same with this.

  • private insurance is expensive. Government insurance is quite cheap but doesn't cover much. this system needs to go.

  • Also how can a Public company compete with the government - Man come on if we allow government to pick and choose who can offer insurance for us at a cheaper subsidized rate how can the semi-private company compete?

How can they beat the printing presses and unlimited funding through tax payer compulsion? Its a 100% unfair advantage for the governmental company

Think Government Sachs or Government Electric (GE)-- how are you going to enter the green market as a major player? - You Can't!

  • why should health care be capitalized?

  • it will keep prices low. They do it in Japan. I don't know why these idiotic libertarians and free market fundamentalist who have no clue or concept of actual economics are coming up with this whole price inflation shit. My god I am glad I study economics in Uni.

  • "You tell us to spend more"

Oh, you WILL spend more, buddy. Single payer or no single payer, healthcare costs will continue going up.

  • What is your justification for procedures not covered by insurance such as Laysk eye and plastic surgery that continue to become cheaper each eye and more available?

Why should people have to pay for insurance governmental or Private?

It drives the prices up in an artificial way

  • You should ask that to someone who believes private insurers are needed.

    Kill 'em all, I say.

  • Me too governmental and Private insurers only drive up the prices -- get rid off them all.

  • Do you know many government health insurers?

  • I am a pharmacist --- We have medicaid for the poor and medicare for the old + now since 2003 we have Medicare Part D which Subsides Drugs for the old -- Who wins with this? The Large corporations -- They Now do now have to compete with lower prices with their medicine and get to bill the government (tax payers) what they "feel" the drug is worth Another Failed attempt by the government that only benefits the corporations

No Hospital can turn down a Medicaid patient. But if the hospital does..

  • ...not have good standing JCAHO (government agency who sets standards) They still have to accept Medicaid patients but do not get to bill Medicaid -- They have to treat the Medicaid patients for Free if "JCAHO" deems them to not be "of standard" --- Who is JCAHO? -- A private group setting standards for Government picking and choosing as they feel? who do they answer to? Nobody -- if you are not in With them its out of business for your hospital.

  • You're a pharmacist and I'm Cpt. Hook.

  • Come visit me a Wallgreen's in Salt lake city today -- I start in 2 hours :)

    Graduated from UofMinnesota this spring.

Worked as a Pharm tech for 5 years during school

  • No. You come visit ME in Nevernever Land. Just follow the second star on the right and keep going 'til morning.

  • Kid what is your problem? Zyprexa run out?

Would it shock you if I told you my father is a pharmacist too since 1972?

Oh boy -- I wonder where I got the idea

If you have nothing to add or no information refrain from making yourself appear to be unstable

  • Please. You are a liar and a terrible one, at that.

  • Alright Ann

I just took a photo in my Wallgreen's Coat

I Was going to hold a picture up that says "ANN Quit doubting" but I figure you must just be in a bad mood and I am not trying to make you mad.

Do you want my address now too?

    Phone #?

  • If we got rid of the whole insurance industry and spent the money we are already spending on healthcare (currently 18% of the USA annual GPD) we could afford Single-payer healthcare with money to spare. Another source of funding could be cutting down the bloated wasteful military budget and reinvest that money into health care.

  • Bighorse, Nobody in America who is poor is denied right now -- that is what medicaid is for + all states have their own additional services from tax revenues.

If you have HIV/ Hep C or Hep C you are deemed a high risk and are covered by the federal government.

Yet you seem to fail to site the compulsion in our federal government mandating people to have Insurance. They are getting rich as they can set the prices since its required that you have it or pay through the arm.

  • if the US doesn't have money why are you fighting two wars and spending 448 billion dollars annually on the military. would'nt you rather be spending that money covering the 50 million uninsured and the underinsured ?

  • You need to first understand how we back our dollars today and how we create money to understand why we have troops in 140+ countries and why we have over 700 Military bases worldwide costing us 1.5 trillion a year when you figure in all costs associated with the welfare costs of Warfare

Replacing one Welfare program with the wars and replacing it with another does nothing when we are still living outside our means.

If you cannot afford something do you buy it?

  • I've watched quite a bit of these therealnews videos for awhile, and they actually seem rather 'compromised'.

  • States can do whatever they want. There is no legitimate constitutional warrant for single payer at the federal level.

  • We need single payer now! It is immoral to make the have and have nots the live and live nots.

  • Anyone who would like to get more involved regarding health care reform should contact their representatives. I have made this easier by devoting my profile to ways in which you can do that including phone numbers. Do not let the fear tactics and bullshit lies discourage you. We have waited long enough. When they push we need to push harder. This is our chance to really make a difference right here in our own country.

  • well socialist bankers seem to be doing ok

  • No, that's a corporatist gov. not a socialist gov.

  • their is no such thing as a corporatist government --- corporations do not pass laws or create them -- You describe an Oligarchy

In order to have what you describe our GOVERNMENT has to hand over control to the corporations and that is compulsion but it is Government who did it signed and passes the bills

We need representatives strong enough to stand up for Main street rather then representing Wall Street.

  • Corporatist= a government in which corporations influence the direction of public policy and the dispersal of public funds. Why would the bite the hand that feeds their election and reelection? A socialist government controls those utilities that are in the public interest as well as putting a collar on capitalism's more negative aspects. Our government still has a few Keynesian elements kicking.

  • that is an oligarchy

  • We don't have socialism in the USA we have Fascism which is the opposite of socialism.

  • The USA is fascist? Nonsense. You're using the word 'fascist' as a pejorative not as an accurate description.

The USA regulates almost every aspect of individual economic activity, heavily regulates most industries, and directly or indirectly controls the means of production in medicine, utilities, telecommunications, and food production.

That's social democracy, if not socialism.

  • Well, the same can be said about fascism.

However, in the case of the US, it's hard to say who's controlling who. Does the government control the pharmaceutical industry - or is it controlled by it?

  • What would make false the following claim?

    "Government X is fascist."

  • Government X not being fascist.

  • Heh. Marquis, you've given the negation not the falsification. It's an elementary logic mistake.

If "Government X is fascist" is true, then "Government X not fascist" is false. If "Government X is fascist" is false, then "Government X not fascist" is true.

Falsification requires us to give criteria to judge the truth or falsity of a claim.

What criteria would make this claim false: "Government X is fascist." Observable criteria are best.

  • "Fascism should rightly be called Corporatism, as it is the merger of corporate and government power" -- Benito Mussolini

That's a perfect description of how the government in the USA is today.

If the USA was a social democracy most people would be in labor unions and the unions themselves would have a lot more strength. Things like Single-Payer National health care would have been a reality a long time ago.

The USA has a long way to go before ends up like a country as great as Sweden.

  • Sweden is rapidly privatizing, having realized that the welfare state is untenable.

Unions are corporations. They are run for profit.

It's right to say that the US is not socialist; it's a hybrid capitalist and socialist system. The US economy has many socialist elements.

However, it seems quite wrong to say it's fascist, if only because political power in the US is highly decentralized. Corporations have no more sway in the US than in Sweden, perhaps less so.

  • Do you live under a rock? Corporations own this country. You have to look no further than the top donors of the Republican and Democratic candidates in any political race to see who owns them. The industrial complexes of military, medical and energy have been driving the policy and legislative decisions in this country for centuries. The have the power to force our country into war for their interests all the while running up record deficits and civilian body counts to protect their profits.

  • All of this is true also under socialist governments. But still, the point is a good one. FDR, and other prominent Progressives, were great admirers of fascism. The legal form of the modern US corporation was created by FDR's administration specifically to couple government power with private money.

Maybe you're right. In fact, you've convinced me. I was wrong, Arctic Slicer.

To the degree that the US has pursued Progressive policies, it is a fascist country.

  • "Sweden is rapidly privatizing, having realized that the welfare state is untenable."

Do you have any sources for this? Wouldn't a 'rapid' privatization require people to urgently buy healthcare? And why the hell would they do that when they have a perfectly functional public system?

Sounds to me like you're spreading disinformation.

  • Source: tinyurl(.)com/SwedenPrivatizes

Sweden finds market mechanisms work better, even for universal care: tinyurl(.)com/SwedishHealthcaeMarket

Swedish healthcare is not "funcitonal," that's why they're changing it: tinyurl(.)com/SwedishHealthcareNotFunctional

Swedish Finance Minister says, "Like many societies, we went too far in our welfare-state ambitions"

Sounds to me like you're uninformed, vivthefree.

  • TenseAlcyoneus I guess you were for Bush's privatization plot of Social Security before Wall Street fell in 2008 too?

  • under socialism government has complete control

Under Fascism with the merger of the State and corporations we still live under complete government control run through the corporations.......At anytime the government can buddy up with a new corporation and go a new path -- but it remains the same -- which ever way Government points the power the people become ruled by the government's will through the corporations --

Both equal complete collectivist control over individuals

  • Every time a wingnut tries to redefine Socialism by claiming it's about giving money to private banks, God kills a kitty.

    Seriously, stop killing kitties.

  • @ bbburton

  • The Federal Reserve is our private central bank that our treasury sells bonds for to create debt for our nation -- the debt or "money" is controlled by this this private bank

a private bank that the people including our representatives do not know who they lend money to or how much. A private bank who can make deals with Foreign governments and international governments without disclosing any information and a Private bank we have no idea how much debt they really created or plan on creating.

  • But that is socialism.

  • Funny, because I could say the exact same thing about corporate-run economies.

  • that is just it the bankers are doing well like Ours are here -- Government Sachs has never been doing well when they use compulsion of tax payer funds to finance their ways

But that does not mean the people are doing well and it raises the question how can you justify a select few are able to receive tax payer funds and yet others do not. -- It creates a unfair competitive edge for this organization in the market

    All central planing fails

Individuals are what makes societies great

  • thanks for working hard
