to be honest... I think it IS tamasaburo.... he doesn't get the high pitches just right compared to the little girl in red. since most chinese would be used to inflections and tones..... his sound flat and practised but not familiar......
The voice is clearly Tamasaburo, and maybe you doubt a little because the make-up used for the Chinse Opera (Kun and Peking) are different to the Kabuki. And, mainly because all the lights of the stage which hide all the other factions.
There are 4 scenes. Tamasaburo led 2nd+4th. Dong fei and Liu Cheng, each played the other 2. Kabuki player has no training in singing; this the language issue made the learning process long. 牡丹亭 was once successfully performed by Mei-Lang-fang. Mei visiitted Japan in 1919, 1924 & 1956, and was regarded as a god figure by Kabuki players. Tamasaburo dreamed about performing one of Mei's roles since 20 years old and here we are(prepared for 2 years).
ah, i think you are right in doubting it. I also think it might not be Tmasaburo now. and the characters in Chinese on the screen shown another actor's name
This is the first chapter, 游園。Actor 董飛(Dong fei) performed the female leading role. Then another acotor, 劉錚, performed the female leading role in 寫真 chapter。
See guys, I am not an expert at this topic, but I think Tamasaburo is doing a great job with the hand movements and face expressions, but I prefer his work in Kabuki. I saw Mei Lanfang version and I liked it a lot (voice, arms and eyes are perefectly arranged. I liked this one, but I feel it kind of fast, specially the dialogue "Chunxiang...". The servant does not make that lovely scene of the mirror looking. Overall, Tamasaburo has never disappointed me, great job! And thanks!!

真是成功的尝试!
这种融合形式的戏曲还有很大创新空间!
而且看上去,昆曲与日本的传统风格契合点还比京剧要多。
