  • She is left handed though.. I put wax paper at the bottom and slide it off on a plate and let it hardened a bit in the fridge. The use scissors and get the bottom and slide it on to cake.

  • Why would you use a spatula?? WHY. You smushed your rose...

  • @eamkjohnson that's how it used to be done...

  • Wow,thanx,doin it tomorrow

    It looks easy when u do it thoug(;

  • there is not enough icing in the bag to hold it properly

  • This is awesome. Thanks for sharing that!!

  • Thats a horrible way to ice a rose.Bad teacher ! You need a good spanking ;no wonder people dont make roses with lovely petals which resemble the real thing.

  • @Lylia141 I'd like to see you do a better job than her at that resembles the real thing more than hers, someone should give YOU a good spanking!

  • Thank you for introducing yourself and showing us who you are... nobody seems to like to do that... and also, thanks for actually talking to us and explaining things instead of just putting on music like so many do... :))) IT'S APPRECIATED!!

  • Hello.

    Beautiful flowers and great technique.

I was just wondering, what is the recipe to your icing? And what kind of color do you use?

  • I always wondered how to make one of these roses. Thanks for teaching! :D

  • looks yummy!!

  • thanks so much. i was having trouble making the base...and my petals looked kinda bad

  • very helpful! thank you!

  • To make good rose designs on cakes you have to have practice!!!!! I know!!!!

Cake decorating is FUN, but you have to practice, much love and great video!!!!!

  • is that a real cake a verry pretty purple color

  • * amazing

  • Wow that rose looks really good!

Especially if its done with buttercream iceing. I applaud you for your efforts on this video and on the roses. Everyone should stop being harsh & over critical & cut the poor lady some slack! She did an amasing job.

  • It's a really pretty rose!

  • ok the ros edoesnt "suck" but is is kind of small....

PEOPLE SHUT THE HELL UP i was taught something.... and y are people up voting mean comments sheesh

  • @ExOMeep The reason people are making and voting for the "mean" comments is because the word expert is used when this woman has no idea what she is doing, the rose is made wrong, the way she is holding the bag is wrong, the way she placed the rose is wrong.... all of it is wrong... there is no expert in this video.

  • @VforVIBE Not onces was the word expert used!!!

  • @614lazy Really? Then could you answer a few questions for me... What is the screen name of the poster of the video? What does the video say at :04? What was the name of the web site the lady is representing? I'll give you the answers... EXPERTvillage, "from leading EXPERTS", and she says she is with EXPERTvillage... So yes Lazy, the word expert is used a lot for someone who clearly has no idea what they are doing. If the word expert wasn't used, trust me, I wouldn't have made a fuss over it.

  • @614lazy Oh wait, I missed one, she is also called and expert in the video description... any other questions little girl?

  • love your accent, pretty thank you

  • ithink it's really pretty

  • Those roses are not so good.

  • rose sucks sorry

  • It's not the video that's a waste of time. It's the low-class, "expert" criticism with the lack of precise vocabulary that's not only a waste of time, but degrading as well.

  • wow thats really pretty it looks kinda tricky though

  • What's wrong w/ her rose? That's exactly how i learned to do it, hers just didn't have as many petals, that's a matter of preference. So it the direction that you turn the nail in. :)

    God Bless ~Amy

  • its a bit easier to go clockwise

  • the second rose was better

  • Hey, cut the lady a break, I thought her rose was cute. So what if it wasn't the huge ol' honkin' rose we're used to seeing? Doesn't mean you have to bash on it so much.

  • this is very confusing!!!!!!

  • Man, I used to think that this was a great tutorial until I took the wilton classes. So much easier. This way is a bit too messy.

  • for one, her icing is incredibly too thin. which would be why its already melting from her hands and they wouldn't last on a cake. also i've found they work alot better if you put them in a freezer for a few mins before putting them on a cake so they can set up more. as for the flower nail deal, you don't even need one of those to do this, really. i learned by using foil under them. lol

  • This is so horrible. How did she get on this? Shes definitely not an expert. I do better flowers then her and I've only taken a four day course for cake decorating

  • To lift the rose and place it on your cake you should use flower scissors...so your flower doesn't get messed up. Also when making a rose you are supposed to have more petals.

  • i liked this! its the easiest aproach to make a rose! and cut her some slack!

  • I have never seen a buttercream rose made this way, kinda messy. I think that the wilton method produces a much prettier rose.

  • well that was a waste of 2 mins and 22 seconds of my life

  • I have never seen such a sloppy rose , and how in the world is she holding that pipping bag?

  • Dx i want a cake O-O xDD

  • yea its called a FLOWER nail not a rose nail and her roses r bad and messy

  • HORSESROX2 HER FLOWERS ARE BEAUTYFUL AND SHE CAN CALL IT WATEVER SHE WANTS RACIS!!!u are sooo racis

  • ok yay what hrsesrcks said was kinda mean y is she a rasis ?? didnt c any refrences to the color of her skin u people must not have lives

  • im in no way RACIST ( and yes u spell it with a T)

her flowers r just hideous.....like i would pay her no to pt those things on a cake 4 me!

  • yeah i don't like em as much as the ones they make @ Publix LoL

  • you don't have to pay her, she is showing you how to do it yourself for free. Gosh

  • and how is she racist??

  • The 2nd rose was better looking

  • oh ur doing thw wilton rose method...

  • its not hard though its just like squirty cream??!!

  • thats really prety

  • this helped me alot! :D thanks!

  • GREAT JOB u seem really nice!

  • couldnt you just wait for the royal icing to dry then scoop it of so it doesnt mess up when it comes off the nail

  • awesome tip thx

    but it kinda looks sloppy

not that i can do it half as good as that

    but still

idk i just doesnt look right to me

  • it does look sloppy, but thanks for the video

  • where did you get the nail from?

  • awesome tips, thanks!

  • where do u get the rose nail?

  • I got mine at Michael's - I would guess that most craft stores, or maybe cooking supply places, would have them. It wasn't expensive.

  • at any cake store.....

  • I just finished course 1 of the wilton classes. We learned roses last night, this technique is definitely different than what was taught last night. Looks easier though, i will try it, Thank you:)

  • The technique is good for beginners. I dont care what race, religion or colour she is, What the video is all about, teach us how to make icing rose. Thanks.

  • good i gesse well i am a gost

  • Racist too? Its showing a basic technique, nothing wrong with that. If you know how to do it better go and do your own video and leave your racist comments to yourself. Twat.

  • actually there really nice. and if your such an expert then why are you watching a how to video?

  • oye quedan muy lindas y parese facil lo voy a intentar *:*

  • Thank you for posting this, the cake was very cute and looks well done and delicious.

  • this is a rose you see on a store bought cake - done very quickly, not on a cake that an expert cake decorator would have produced. I read somewhere that one can judge a cake decorator's level of experience by the appearance of their roses.

  • You read somewhere? And you are qualified to judge based on something you read somewhere? Of course never having done so yourself. An expert cake decorator wouldn't have done a rose quickly? They have to make money which means doing it the fastest that they can. Your post makes no sense and indicates you are ignorant.

  • Her roses are, in fact, extremely amateur. I decorate cakes. Taken classes on how to do so and done a few by commission. Not a professional, mind you. Even -I- can do roses better than that. No one even close to professional does roses like that.

  • very nice and thank you . This makes it easy to understand.

  • looks a lil sloppy...but i understand the technique.

  • I agree, this isnt the best how to video. Those roses are armature.

  • I'm a commercial cake decorator, I think the roses look fine, everyone does them differently. Mine are made differently than she teaches, but i have seen plenty of cake decorators Roses and hers look fine. Just my opinion though...

  • Atleast , have a heart to share whatever skill she has.

  • this was really helpful :)

made me hunderstand the basic idea.

    thanks !

  • Wow i cant believe u all are fighting over roses...thats really immature...and plus they arent the best roses ive seen. its not that she incapable of making them, it just means she needs more practice...get over it!

  • Since you have the nerve to say that someone's roses are horrible i presume that your roses are fantastic thats if you even can make a rose ? I doubt it .

  • ty u explain way better than most places

  • u all blow me u r fighting about icing

  • OH MY GOD you cant just call someones roses horrible

  • its not like you can do any better so give her a break bish <_<

  • obsessed much? remember its just a cake =_=;

  • Oh, I'm very obsessed. I live in a cake house with cake floors and cake furniture, and I wear cake clothes.

  • ok seriously who gives a fuck! this is a video showing who ever wants to do it that way how to do it if they wanna do it a different way go watch a different video tutorial on how to make a different rose type stop coming to videos and leave rude comments idc if its not that great but i think she did a fine job lets all stfu stop bitching about icing roses lets all go back to living our pathetic lives and being a step closer to death does that sound like a plan?!

  • This rose technique is not very good. I am no expert but I took lessons from one of the best cake decorators in Philadelphia. She taught me that the pastry bag ONLY moves up and down about 1/4 to 1/2 inch depending on the size of the rose, and the lateral control is done entirely by just spinning the nail. There is very little movement needed overall. The roses look awesome and it fatigues your hands less.

  • HEEEY!!! im from philly :DD what school dod you go 2?

  • scissors work better when taking it off of the nail

  • i wanna make a rose thats very talented lol school prj !MAKE CAKE!

  • not to bad, if your making a flowery cake for a 4 year old. if you would like to see how roses and any other flowers are made, search for theecakelady here on youtube.

  • weren't you supposed to wipe

the tip after every petal so that it won't drag?

    ?

  • it still looks nice.

  • What icing was used to make the rose and can anyone provide the ingredients to make this icing?

  • butter cream works great

  • my mom and i are about to make cupcakes so this will be great!

  • wow i love it!!

  • i seriously doubt that is an expert doing it, i'm sure this would be a confidence booster if you are not crafty, but i don't see why they call it expert village

  • I'v been watcing expert village videos for about 2days now and iv come to realize they are all inexperienced people ._. all of the videos are kinda bleh.

  • I was simply commenting my opinion, I was NOT beeing mean! u cant expect to see good comments on videos. people have the right to express their own opinion, likes and dislikes. If u dont like it, oh well sue me.

  • well if you can do a better job then yeah you can talk all the junk you want but if you cant....its best to keep your mouth shut and your opnion to yourself your opnion means nothing if you cant do a better job yourself

  • I dont see why im getting all this heat for my comment. I never said she didnt do a good job, nor did I say I can do much better then her. I only said that I didnt know why this channel is called "expert" village. These people do not seem to be experts, they just look like random people posting ok home videos of themselfs making stuff. She did a good job. just not worthy enough to be called a "expert". If ur gonna bash be back, do it right.

  • I concur rommulexxie. I have seen experts and this is not expert by any means. It is helpful for beginners.

  • I think your roses would turn out better if you pipe the petals away from you rather than towards you and the flower nail turning clockwise. And the most important is the center petal around the base of oscing. I don't see you doing that.

  • Thanks for this video, you make it look so easy!

  • this tutorial isnt that great i have seen better

  • O_O wow!

  • It was really helpful, I bought a set of tips and could not think what the rose nail was for since the box came with no instructions, I almost got rid of it! XD

  • nice

  • I love yo babeh fat shirt. gurl wherchu get it?

  • she's not very professional

  • does it matter if u use a different tip?

  • wow that really helped me.

  • One of the best ways to make a rose is by using two different decorating tips. The mound on the nail head is constructed with a #12 tip. Apply the pressure straight down. Gradually decrease the pressure as you building the mound. Stop applying pressure at desired height and pull tip away from the mound. The next step requires tip #104 (102 and 103 are completely acceptable depending on the desired size of the petals). Hold the icing bag so that the widest opening of the tip is downward.

  • Be prepared, this next step requires some degree of coordination. Approximately 2/3 up the mounds height, we are going to pipe icing to make the first petal. With the wide opening of the tip pointing downward and touching the mound, slowly turn the nail as you apply pressure. Stop applying pressure when your tip has piped icing halfway around the mound. (This is the back and forth process depicted by the video*Note applying pressure and moving slower offers a higher degree of control).

  • We are now ready to make the second petal by slightly overlapping the first. Start again, slightly behind the first petals end, and pump 1/4 of the distance around the mound. Add a third petal that overlaps the second petals end and first petals beginning. You should now have the top of the rose completed with three petals. Move down the mound to start a second layer of petals. A beautiful rose will require approximately seven petals total. You may add more/less depending on preference.

  • Note, the seven petal rose is slightly more intricate than the roses shown in the video above. It is also important to remember to use a royal icing (or an icing with a stiff consistency). Otherwise, the rose will turn out mushy, and loose its delicate definition. The tips I have mentioned can be found at Walmart; they come in a package for 99 cents. I hoped that helped clarify rose making and good luck to all Cake Decorators. ~Bear~
