  • This man is a real deal, he speaks universal truth about life and death which is above any religion. Im impressed by his wisdom, kindness and compassion, This is how we should all behave and world would be a much better place.

  • can someone explain to me why is noneness good?

  • "How big a house do you need, have you asked that question?? A house which is made of wood, 6ft long, 2ft wide, maybe 1ft high, that's the house you're gonna end up in!" haha!

  • Another thing, I don't see how anyone with even a basic working knowledge of Budhism could possibly resent it or the people that practice it. It is the most peaceful, tolerant and compassionate belief system I've ever come across and it bears no prejudice against any race, creed or other religion.

  • I live in Perth and am lucky enough to be able to see Ajahn Brahm speak at the local Budhist centre on most Friday nights. I can tell you, he's even more inspirational in person then he is on video. I wouldn't call myself a Budhist yet, but in just a few weeks listening to him has changed my life for the better. The world would be a safer and more pleasant place if everyone followed Budhist teaching, even to a small degree.

  • What an amazing guy!!!

  • i m oneness............... now on

  • This Monk's talks have changed my life and have made me a much happier person than almost all the self-help books I've ever read. I want to meet him one day.

  • This is such a beautiful retreat center. I've always wanted to go to Buddha's society retreat center. I love the teachings they give. They're related to real life. The monk in the video gave a couple of talks on contentment and everything is good enough. There're really good. I also love the "CEO" monk, Ajahn Brahm, he's funny and insightful. One day I am gonna meet him in Sydney and donate to Buddha's society, where he teaches and not care about tax deduction. I am in the States now.

  • Buddhism for wise people not for foolish people. this monk had a doctorate in physics.u can also see Albert Einstein's attitude about Buddhism

  • Buddhism is the best religion ever I am proud to be a Buddhist I am from homeland of therawada

  • @123chandimal I am not officially a buddhist but I agree with you.

  • My presentation not only for our dear friemd MessianicLight, also to many fellow humans who misunderstood or even resent Buddhism. @azkeyz There is a time where Brahmin(God) who live long in Heaven. But soon as His positive Karma has exhausted, he fell a level of Realms of Form. It is an empty palace, where He lives alone there. Soon he wishes for companion there. As he did that, few gods appear to the Palace. He thought it is Him who create their existence. Hence he claimed the position as Cr

  • @MessianicLight As Dalai Lama has said in his speech somewhere, both religionsnpreach compassion and kindness, but we must split our pathways in terms of practice and goal. We respect God because he is Higher power but not Enlightened. We respect Buddha because he taught us not only way of life, but also how to use our mind wisely. Eternity and annihilism is heresy to us, we shall make clear that Middle way is our practice. Besides, we are not worshipping idol, but simply a way to pay respect t

  • @ravidesilva1973 At least, I don't see any Buddhist goes to other religions' channels and trolls there. Only other "religions" go to Buddhist channels and do bad ass stuffs there.

If you don't like Buddhism, go back to your own place. I don't see any reason for a person who hates Buddhism trolls around here and provokes people.

@Everyone and Buddhists: Leave the trolls alone. Dogs still bark, and the caravan still moves.

  • @ravidesilva1973 Shut up and take your negative mindset somewhere else.

  • Buddhism is the most negative religion in the world. If you want to make your life misarable become a buddhist. Life is suffering it seems, can't do anyting it's suffering. Bull_shi_t religion for poor wrethed bas_tards.

  • @ravidesilva1973 ha ha you ignorant deluded fool (but then why shouldn't you be?)

  • @niranu78 I removed it and yours too

  • @MessianicLight

We buddhist dont believe in your God. We even called your God " It " coz it just a powerfull mind that decent from somewherelese.

  • My loneliness before as a kid I LOVED EVERY ABSOLUTE PART OF IT I enjoyed the process of being alone, i felt free had more time to learn, contemplate, meditate about things and perpsectives no right or wrong just living in THE MOMENT. now SOCIETY or how we relate to society is the problem, its how we view it, when SOMEONE TOLD ME I WAS A LONER a NERD inept or uncool which some people behind my back have done, its how i RELATE to that statement thats the problem; its HOW I VIEW AND TAKE IT

  • Ihank you Ajahn Brahm from the bottom of my heart

  • this guy is just a genius, really helped me..amazing

  • AntyNWO.pl

  • @blumac81 Listen to this while playing video games??? How does that work!!!!

  • It's not the bullet that kills you which is the problem. It's how you RELATE to the bullet that kills you which is the problem. The bullet is not disturbing you. YOU are disturbing the bullet!... It's not China occupying Tibet which is the problem, it's how we RELATE to China occupying Tibet which is the problem. ;)

  • the first 20 minutes or so was extremely good. it got a little weak toward the end.

    but overall very true words

  • Really enjoy listening to this man.

    Simple and joyful.

Too bad about all of the stupid comments.

I would suggest filtering or simply not allowing comments at all

something more and more people are doing.

  • @claudelebel55 The comments are not the problem, it's how you relate to the comments. :)

  • @pitbrand good point. I will take it into consideration.

  • "Hinduism" is the only solution to every thing "Pranayama" and" yoga" the only solution to suffering and it is the way of life

  • Simply brilliant

  • This talk provides a very effective palliation to social isolation. The talk delivers a cognitive behavioural therapy type of approach that is easy to understand.

  • The shaolin monks also live by the sword , how then can they say they have wisedom.

Apprently they didn't get the message.

He who lives by the sword shall die by the sword.

If you want to be the idiot who lifted a sword to strike when you were odered not to by Yahushua Ha Mashiach , thats on you.

  • @azkeyz

"Shaolin monks" are not actually Buddhist at all and they have nothing to do with Buddhism, Buddhism completely forbids monks from ever committing violence.

  • Lonliness is for pagans who forgot Yahuvah is in charge.

If you want to take down babylon , you're going to need to stop shaving your head like a damn pagan.

Which is why I approve more of monks with nice hair.

It's just not wise to speak when golden idols are right behind you.

also not a good idea to talk about being a shaloin buddhist monk when you're nothing but an edomite like the rest of us who got off the same boat.

  • @azkeyz you are full of opinions but have no wisdom. Do not confuse the two.

  • @azkeyz by the way, those are not idols, they are symbols. Big difference.

  • The good which he sees, compared to the evil which he sees, is as his own good to his own evil. - Ralph Waldo Emerson, Spiritual Laws.

    I think this fundamental phychological/spiritual truth also holds for "bright/dull" - "knowlegable/ignorant" - "intelligent/stupid" - "self-giving/self-serving" - "humility/arrogance" - "honesty/deception" - etc.....

  • 0=1=Infinity

The man's words may entertain us dullards, be banal, profound, practical, and absurd at the same time. Why care?

  • Thank you for posting this nice video. Greatly appreciate Ajarn Brahm's teaching. I am a Buddhist and always trust in our Buddha's teaching which is very rationale one. The more I learn and practice, the happier person I become.

  • This is such silly talk!

  • @Youshamedyourparents for you ? yeah of course it could be silly if you view it that way but for many it is great. When you going to see things great in your life? maybe there is not anything useful here for you. You may look elsewhere if you want. No need to act silly.

  • @deva930 Why do you accuse me of being silly. Listen to what this man is saying and learn that there is no wisdom in it at all.

  • More you scratch more the gold will shine....

More you crush more the sandlewood smell good!

  • Ma talent, trzeba mu przyznać.

  • I listened to Ajahn Brahm for the first time today. I can't say enough about the clarity, the humor and the wonderful teaching!

  • Ajahn Brahm has helped me in so many area's of my life. There have been many times where I am bawling my eyes out about something and I run out of any ideas of what to do about any of it. And it never fails, Ajahn Brahm ALWAYS has a talk about it--and it ALWAYS makes me feel so much more.... alright. Like everything will be ok.

  • You are telling nothing new.... It's all in the Vedas! Also Siddharth was Sanatan!

  • This is most interesting, I wonder if he can help me with my problems like, being lonesome, having faith, etc.

  • @txmxax25 the remedy for this is for you not to click on his videos. the fact that the vast majority of the people who watch his videos learn something from them and do not find him annoying tells you the value of your opinion. i am sorry you life is so miserable

  • @txmxax25 but i see by your age that you are but an immature child. that explains everything. have a lovely day

  • @txmxax25 Like your face isn't.

  • @txmxax25

must be annoying for you and sound stupid. Unfortunately it seems that he was not made for you preference. Look elsewhere for someone else that does not look annoying to you and seek help. I think you need a lot of help to learn not to be annoying to others

  • I love this guy, so peaceful, of course, though the concept of Buddism differs from what I believe of the void at the end.=)

  • at around 13:40 "he said maybe a thousand people watching on the internet" yeh, more like over a hundred and fourty thousand! little does he know how much his message is loved worldwide. I love ajahn brahm - wish i could meet him in my life time.

  • @mainmanmoose why not?

  • @mainmanmoose 141,353 to be exact =)

  • What bothers me is when people pity you for being alone because they believe being alone means loneliness even when you might be quite content with yourself. Then they push you to try to be with someone and into an uncomfortable situation. Above everything I think the goal is just to be happy. If your happy alone or with someone both are fine. It is just society and narow minded people that stigmatize and looks down on those by themselves

  • What he talks about with the identity matrix around 25min I agree. I would much rather be alone than to be with people and pretend to be someone I'm not or act a certain way to fit in and lose my sense of self in the process. I used to think being alone is a bad thing b/c the social norm was forced on me. Now I realize that to be alone does not mean loneliness. Loneliness is a negative state of mind while to be alone is just being by oneself. Like he said its how u relate to being alone

  • People may equate solitude as loneliness, but it's not necessary true. A person that has many friends and seem to be cheerful but may feel lonely. A person that spends most of his time with his own may not necessary feel lonely.

  • @myvoyageful

If you read about the 4 noble truths... you will see that what Ajahn Brahm is talking about is:

    1) Suffering

    2) Cause of suffering

    3) The possibility to cure suffering

    4) The method to cure suffring

Ofcourse he simplifies it - BUT for a beginner - such as your self - it needs to be simplified so your mind can understand it in everyday life - cause its our situation.

If you start studying - you will see - that what he practices is compassion which HELPS people start meditating.

  • @myvoyageful Hi, I respectfully disagree. Parroting Suttas is only one form of using speech to teach the Dharma. He is teaching, do good, avoid unwholesomeness , train your mind.

  • I love being alone and i love being with people simply

because i love me. this was an affirmation which made me feel

    good.

  • I love being alone and i love being with people simply

    because i love me.

  • inspiring...love it !

  • @myvoyageful A Buddhist monk can and encouraged to use their own approach either by telling a story or analogies to teach the essence of dharma. This way, the 2500 year old teaching can transcends through time, places and people.

  • Thank you so much Ajahn, I'm from Denmark, 20 years old.

Going through my own crises, but you give me alot to work with and think about.

  • @Aiimmo Hi there! I am 20 years old, from Indonesia, living in US.

I just broke up with my partner who means everything to me and was devastated. Afraid of being alone, I listen to this and it helps me.

  • I think you guys should look into something by ZEn called a silent sermon

  • Fabulous. Thanks for posting this. Inspiring.

  • thank you for uploading my friend

  • Ajahn Brahm should go on TED talks :)

  • I live alone and spend 99% of my life alone. But im not lonley at all. I have my dogs, cats and horses. And a couple of sheep. I live on the countyside surrouded by nature. I wouldn,t have it any other way.

  • @shetlandlady247 :-) you are not mindful.... just stuck with nature..you dont see inside of you by living like that

  • Thank you for posting !

  • Thank you.

  • thank you!!!

  • A long while back I saw Ajahn Brahm on TV and I thought this is a special man.

A week ago I found his Dharma Talks on Youtube and I watched the video clips as much as possible. You can't find a better teacher regarding life or death.

  • Wow what a profound lesson to learn! I took so much from this.

  • Thank you so much for bringing this wise man to me. I was spellbound and couldnt stop listening to him even tho the cats were asking for food and the phone was ringing. I hope to actually meet him one day. Namaste <3

  • i cant believe it , i just watched the hole video...

  • This talk is so amazing and so funny. I guess this world is pretty funny.

  • Loneliness can be a gift or a curse. It gives one the opportunity to release ones self by letting go of their loved ones(not caring if they die or suffer), letting go of their life and allowing severe suffering if it must be. The hard part of loneliness is being dragged back into human existence, for example having to keep up with social exercises like working and having to meet people and pay bills and keep up. That is an exercise in self discipline and is suffering, in an emotional sense.

  • Thank you for this video, i watch it a few months ago.

At first i was a little bit doubtful about watching a white monk (im white), i gave it a shot and i loved it.

I believe i watch all of his talks afterward and became a big fan of Ajahn Brahm.

    Thanks again!

  • hi blumac81. I was the same as you, feeling buddhism was something from another world. When i went to the local monastry to check it out, I was very lucky to walk into the place where ajahn brahm does his talks and where this is filmed.

  • Excellent

  • God do i love this guy, very insightful, one of speeches actually changed my life.

  • what speech was that?

  • @sl2mmer

His speech on how to deal with difficult people, and boy does his advice comes in handy and best of all it works. Ironically people spend hundreds on motivation speakers and counselors when the real EFFECTIVE ones are free and all you spend is a voluntary donation if you happen to be there. How life's ironic isn't it. lol

  • ok, thanks, i'll check that one out

  • Beautiful and resonant , ahhhhhhuuum

  • This is the best explanation of changing suffering I have heard. Thankyou :-)

  • this is exceptional !! thank you so much !!

  • Thanks for sharing and also thanks to teh kk for sending me this interesting link!!

I will listen each way I was at the PC working!!

  • I would love to meet this man.

  • Sangham saranam gacchami. From November 18th to the 23rd, 2009 Palden Dorje will be giving blessings in Gadhi Mai. He plans this appearance in order to protest the sacrificing of tens of thousands of animals before they take place on the 24th at the Gadhi Mai Festival near Nijgad in Bara District. Please participate.

  • fantastic!

  • thank you so much for sharing this teaching

  • ive never been lonley or even felt it,and i have no friends or family. This last year,I just post and thrive off your comments. You are all my friends, even though none of you really like me,nor i you.

I like this guy,and as soon as i click related vids,i'll never see him again.namaste,in lak ech

  • Alfulani5 I'm very disappointed with your behaviour I think you're the reincarnation of Udayin, one of the notorious "group of 6" monks

They behaved exactly like how you behave Buddha adviced, admonished , reprimanded, punished, isolated them. It was to no avail. Eventually, the devotees boycott them and some of them were forced to disrobe

I guess you like people to remember you the same way

    Watch this video again

"The big Question: Is Islam an intolerant religion? Part 1 & 2" by BBC

  • I went to a talk by Ajahn Brahm 2 weeks ago at BSV and was fantastic!! What a great human!

  • As much as I tend to agree with your thoughts about posting just out of hate are in poor taste There is this thing called free speech and to go along with the ideas that are being taught I would say they might just leave them and hope that enlightenment or karma would come to this fellow

  • YouTube is very disappointing ... in that it does not remove some Islamic fruitcakes who are using dirty language (in accord with their dirty, perverse minds) apropos these sublime talks by Ajahn Brahm! What a shame ... YouTube should remove them ... instead Jihadists and other lost souls ply their tawdry, destructive ideas!

  • Ajahn Brahm is a virtuous monk. No doubt about it He is respected by people young and old, all over the world. Thank you Ajahn Brahm!

  • NGO?

  • And catholic priests never molest any boys ever.......

  • You talk so much crap and lies. It is totally prohibited to engage in this practice. You are just spreading lies about a fantastic truthful virtuos way of life. You must be a Muslim or some thing for sure.

  • he is so kind and virtue

  • HAPPY VESAK DAY! Today is the full moon day of May. Buddhists celebrate, to remember the Birth, Enlightenment and Buddha's entering of Parinibbana (passing away of physical body) Buddhists go to temples on this day to chant to invoke blessing, protection and observe the precepts. It is a day of joy for mankind to remember the path that the Buddha showed us. The eightfold path that leads to Nibbana. The eternal, blissful mental state.

    DO GOOD

    AVOID EVIL

    PURIFY THE MIND

    THIS IS BUDDHA"S MESSAGE

  • The religion of the future will be a cosmic religion. It should transcend personal God and avoid dogma and theology. Covering both the natural and the spiritual, it should be based on a religious sense arising from the experience of all things natural and spiritual as a meaningful unity. Buddhism answers this description. If there is any religion that could cope with modern scientific needs it would be Buddhism. ~Albert Einstein

  • I really needed to hear this today. Thank you so much for posting this, much appreciated!

  • i think ajahn brahm says good things, but tara brach and jack kornfield express more content in their talks.

  • he's amazing! thank you thank you..

  • He is fantastic.Thank you so much for sharing!

  • The bhikkhu spent 6 months in solitude.

Sometimes they do that to prisoners as a punishment.

    Feels strange, surely.

  • ALONE

Somehow this word has been corrupted to mean = separate, apart, or isolated

When in fact its true meaning IS

12501300; ME al one all (wholly) one

    ALL ONE! = ALONE

which in fact is the opposite of its original meaning? How did "alone" a wholly word become so negative and confrontational?

  • I think you missed his main point in telling that story, and the fact that the guy getting burnt alive was laughing at himself, instead of attaching to his pain, he let it go and cracked a joke.

Anyways, this guy is great, thank you for this blumac!

  • Hello, Thankyou for your comment. You're absolutely right in what you say. I think i put my own prjection on things at times, and certainly could be more understanding. Thankyou for helping me learn and may all the happiness of the Buddhas be with you. :)

  • I am Bhuddhist and i love to laugh, but the audience laughing and the monk making jokes about a man being burned to death is just pure evil. That's NOT Buddhism. Buddhiam doesn't laugh at suffering, they're compassionate!

  • iam Buddhist and what u think is ur point of view i believe that Buddhism is ones ture happiness it isn't about what other believe it is about what one person views the world and the goodness they spreed and sure the l truths talk about suffering but the story is metaphoric so u cant say it isn't Buddhist it is just what u think about Ur view of the religion

  • Thanks for Adding to youtube!

  • Thank you Ajahn Brahm!

  • A buddhist with an english accent.

    Thats a first xD

  • You're a happy atheist?

    Really ?

Well, I guess we all have no choice but to believe you :)

  • I used to think like you.I am a born again Buddhist after going for Ajahn Brahm's talk for the last three years.I finally can see things as they really are. Without Buddhism, we all will see things in a distorted ways. We start to have all kind of negative feelings, to criticise and blame others for our fault. When I look back I start to think how silly I was as I chose to live life the miserable ways.

  • Right on screwuhippy290! Who would want to have love and kindness when they can have hate and engage in torment! LOL!

  • Like a car we are driving in, we must take care of our physical body. We have no real ownership of this body 'cos no matter what we do, this body of 'ours' is still subject to old age, wear and tear and sickness and finally death.

Buddha advocated the middle path i.e. no extreme in either way. Cultivate control of the mind so as to be mindful at all times and observe the noble 8 fold path.

    With metta,

  • alfulani, I don't know where you get your information from, but I don't think I've come across it.

You attain nirvana when you understand the 4 noble truths in 3 aspects, 12 ways.

The noble truth of dukkha, dukkha should be understood, dukkha has been fully understood.

Of Tanha, tanha should be eradicated, tanha has been eradicated.

Of Cessation of tanha, cessation of tanha should be realized, cessation of tanha has been realized.

Of the 8 fold path, 8 fold path should be developed......

  • blumac81, I have been thinking about this a lot, if I want to become an immortal.

Thoughts that go through my mind: Is it so bad to die? Is it so bad to become non-existing? Somehow I just do not feel the fear of becoming non-existing.

I don't know, maybe I haven't really see my life coming to an end, that's why I have no fear. I think I cound be reborn again, that's why I have no fear.

On the contrary, is it that interesting to be an immortal? I just does not intrique me that much.

  • 2nd. Would you want to be immortal? Buddha was aware of the cycle of rebirth, he knew he would be reborn into the god realm, but still he knew he had to stay, to teach. Suicide by the way is a one-way ticket to the hungry ghost realm in rebirth, according to teachings.

  • Making the question simpler

    Who was controlling Buddah's body?

    1.Himself

2.God (or nature as you call it)

  • Buddhism does not believe in Almighty omnipotent God, no matter what his/her name is. God did not take Buddha's life. Buddha died just like everyone else and he was a human being, not God nor he was reborn as a God nor reborn in heaven. There are higher level super beings with very long life span but none is omnipotent. Some high level beings are so blissful that they are not aware of other's suffering.

Do some vipasana medidation and realise some truth about oneself and you will understand.

  • So are you saying one can attain nirvana WITHOUT gaining 100% control over his body?

  • Why does the fact that his body died mean he was not in control of it? If he was in control and he died then he obviously chose to die.

  • I would not call it suicide.

  • Then what do you call it???

  • Comment removed

  • There is no god, so your question is without substance.

  • @alfulani5 why you use this trick you only choose god in 2 answer .

I dont see anything concern about that answer.

  • @alfulani5

"Buddhism says one cannot attain nirvana unless he takes 100% charge of his body"-->I'm sorry, but I don't think Buddhism ever said that, would you mind giving us a proper quotation from the sutta pitaka?

Nibanna is loosely defined as the extinction of suffering. So to extinguish suffering, Buddha say you have to identify the cause of suffering, and by extinguising the cause of suffering, you cease to suffer and attain the supreme happiness(aka nibanna).

  • @alfulani5

The cause of suffering is ignorance(avija), to eradicate ignorance, the Buddha say you must see things as they really are, according to their three characteristics of impermanance, suffering and non-self. By doing so, you break free from suffering. Controling your body is never part of the buddha's teachings. Perhaps controling your mind in the initial stages is...(:

    Peace be upon you

  • @sagekok Nope its the other way around. NO ONE CAN END SUFFERING!! If suffering has to end one should be 100% satisfied. And NO human will be satisfied even if he is given a mountain of gold. He will start wanting for 2 mountains of gold.

The only way to possibly reduce the effect of suffering is to ignore the cause of it.

  • @alfulani5

Its interesting that the Buddhist POV totally agrees with the point regarding the incessant nature of human desires. The Buddha's approach is NOT to satisfy the bottomless pit of desires, but rather to extinguish it-->to be 100% satisfied. The techincal details is beyond the scope of this discussion. Anyway, point taken. While u may believe that 'no one can end suffering', I repect your views on this. For me, I shall practise His teachings b4 reaching a conclusion

    Peace be upon you.

  • @sagekok Extinguishing desires is NOT possible. Each time you feel hungry or thirsty you start suffering and start desiring for food and drinks. If someone claims he has extinguished desires he is NOT truthful.

  • @alfulani5

Buddhism made it a point to seperate mental suffering and physical suffering. You may experince physical suffering, but you can choose not to be upset over it and be aware of the physical pain as it is.My main point is not to convince you about the possibility of extinguishing desires, but rather my main point is that your very first question about Buddha(1 year ago) is invalid(strawman argument).

    Peace :)

  • @alfulani5 feeding the body what it needs to survive is not desire.. , nor is it craving... eating for pleasure, to find happiness(emotional eating), etc.. then that is desire.

and all desire is not unwholesome. entering the deathless state is eradicating all CRAVING from the root, a large difference between craving and desire.

  • Very angelic!

  • ☆LoVe & LiGhT☆

    With Metta

  • there's at least one in noneness: the witness of noneness. Every time I hear his lessons I feel better but sometimes it feels like falling in the realm of no logic.

  • Lord Buddha teaching the true. you not know by beliveing but you can know by doing form your self.

  • It's a shame I just now found this, but glad I found it nonetheless. I go to a Tibetan Buddhist Monastery in Cincinnati, OH. It has become an extremely important aspect of my life.

  • I now pose this question to all of you who claim to be Buddhist:

'Why is there anything at all?'

More specifically, 'Why is there this cycle of karma and rebirth?', 'How did it begin?'

I challenge you to answer these questions.

  • Isn't it because of ignorance/Avidyā ??

  • Ignorance of....?

  • Ignorance of the Buddhadharma, especially the three Dharma seals: impermanence, dukkha(suffering or unsatisfactoriness, which is a better translation) and Anatta(non-Self). This is how much I know.........

  • why are u so angry? Can you answer your own questions? No u can not... Be nice!

  • I'm not angry. Remember the Buddha himself encouraged his followers to question everything, including Buddhism itself. I am torn between Buddhism and Christianity, and the fine line between the two is that very question. A Christian would answer the question with 'God'. I'm probing Buddhism to see what its answer is.
