I am a patent attorney specializing in biotech/nanotech patent prosecution. My youthful good looks is sometimes a bit of a hindrance in initial relationships with clients.. until I win them over with my work. And it remains that JL is beautiful.. but her dress was a "cheap shot."

YOU put me on the defense by labeling me when you know nothing about me. I knew enough about JL's dress to make a judgment. Why does the slightest negative comment have to originate from envy ?

I think that she is showing MORE than on the beach. It appears to me that her breasts were edited to obfuscate her nipples. The slightest breeze and her nipples would show. Notwithstanding that I enjoy looking at her, her attire was inappropriate.

Definition of an exhibitionist: "someone who deliberately behaves in such a way as to attract attention, in particular, in choice of attire, or lack thereof." JL fits the definition.

She can wear what she wants. But in my opinion, JL is an exhibitionist. Albeit, many celebs are. When Britney was prancing around pantiless, I thought she was an exhibitionist too. Most non-celeb (non-exhibitionist) women would be embarrassed. And I don't like how this behavior affects teen girls. Teen girls are very impressionable and such behavior distorts their values.

Celebrities have to stand out in the limelight. I have seen JLo in many candid shots wearing sweats walking in the street, like the rest of us so-called normal people.

It is my opinion that an exhibitionist would wear attire like this. But supporting my opinion is the objective fact that the designer did NOT mean for this to be worn as a dress. It was described as a "onesie," or a "cover-up" to be worn on top of a dress.

@csillag4 actually there's file footage of Donatella Versace wearing the dress (before Jennifer Lopez did at the Grammy's) in December of 2009 at the Costume Institue Gala. It was designed along with bathing suits in the same vein but was shown on the runway (and once on Christy Turlington) as an actual dress.

@csillag4 The dress is constructed with shorts, so she wouldn't have been naked... The designer and three celebrity clients that wore it obviously did think it was a dress and a bikini is more revealing than that, as well as some one piece bathing suits... As for Hollywood screwing up society's values, that's an "easy out"... People are quick to blame celebrities for that but ultimately if you LET a celebrity influence your values or morals, then they weren't that strong to begin with...

@pildo2000 I think the dress shows a lot more in the front than a bikini/bathing suit, and such comparison is not valid since she is not on a beach/pool. But I didnt realize that there were shorts under the "dress." There isn't room for real shorts.. maybe panties.. As you state, people guided by Hollywood are those who are impressionable, i.e., teenagers and pre-teens....

Well she's more covered than a bikini and there are little booty shorts (she just has a very curvy bum). In terms of actual coverage, she's wearing more than some women in micromini dresses, it's just HOW the dress is cut. I certainly am not denying that it's risque -- I just don't think that a parent can blame someone like her for influencing a child. Sorry, but it starts at home. Who's giving these children money to BUY these things? Monitor your pre-teens/teens and lead by example.

@pildo2000 oh pls are you kidding? of course this is an influence. parents can only do so much. kids are influenced by magazines and music videos and other crap. its natural for them to be influenced. yes, parents have to be there to guide them, so when little girls see J-LO mami can say, no sweety that thing you see right there is a shamless slut. and what she is wearing is what a slut like her would wear, not you. (according to age you'll measure the language but the message is the same.)

@bettyboop17d Okay, so when you parent, you won't allow your children to watch MTV, buy any kind of celeb mag, use the parental control on their television/internet & you'll inform all her friends parents that when your children are visiting the same rules apply. Which is fine, that's your prerogative. The point is she was a grown woman -- this dress doesn't make her a "slut" - if your child tries to emulate her, YOU must deal with it. Your daughter could walk down the street and see more skin.

@bettyboop17d I know it's been a while, but just got the response. How is she a slut? Do you know her personally? No you don't. "Slut" is a very powerful and suggestive word. You may have read some the tabloids, but you know nothing of this woman & her personal life. She is much more covered up than any Victoria's Secret Angel or woman in a bikini... And she's WELL over 18, so how do you justify telling your children "not until you're 18" yet judge her, a 36 yr old??? It's a bit hypocritical.

I just think that if you're going to have such an opinion of someone and use language that's so strong, you sort of need to back that up w/something valid. But you're right, in the end neither of us know her and could honestly say she's a slut or isn't. I'm just giving her the benefit of the doubt b/c I acknowledge the fact I know absolutely nothing about her other than what she says ;) which is true about anyone.
