im 15 and i understand all the sistems in the airbuses and can land all ( dont understand any boeing :P) , looking forward to finish school and start for Commercial pilot license :)
Wasn't very good? It was excellent for a non-pro! So... you crossed the threshold at 100' AGL instead of the usual 50'. Nice work and... all the best to you on your flying career.
Thank you very much! Yes it was quite okey but far away from good. I flared to early causing the plane to drop rapidly to the runway. Need more practice :P
I dunno what all the old salts are moaning about; there wasn't much wrong with that landing, and from what I saw the lad was also handling the throttles himself. It's normal practice to use autothrottle until 1000 feet AAL, then disengage and run in to the flare on flight idle or just above, which is what happened here. The only help he had was with raising the reverser detents out of the slots once the gear was on the deck - the rest went very smoothly indeed.
The "pilot" never once touched the throttle, which meant he wasn't flying the plane. Aircraft performance (and thus the skill of the pilot) is about control surface input combined with throttle. This is the same as someone claiming they can drive when all they do is steer. Someone else does the pedals and gears.
@Jinti42 Dont listen to that guy, first time trying to land a heavy aircraft before you even started the program... awesome job. Obviously a bit long, but still stopped with plenty of feet left.
@Jinti42 That's awesome man, tell me about your experience please, because i wanna be a pilot but i haven't had the opportunity, so here's my msn: andresf-94@hotmail.com.

@Pwnzistor He can fly a DC-10 in simulator but not in the real life that was the meaning of my comment, as a Pilot I tell you one thing, the simulator is for practice the real flights with bad weather, emergencies, procedures and also for qualify each pilot as a captain and first officer, the simulator is a big part of the training of each pilot in flight schools and airlines.
