I have a wii I play it for fire emblem and little kings story and a few others. I'm not looking to buy a wii-u until I see a few things that will warrant the price tag. But I will be buying ps4 when ever that comes out.
Wii U specs will be dated so much once it comes out. The Graphics will be even weaker than XBOX 360 and PS3. While, PS4 and XBOX 720 will have way better specs and crazy graphics.
@SpikeChaosBleeds Actually I expect that PS4 and Xbox 720 will have near enough the same graphics as the PS 3 and Xbox 360. At the moment technology as frozen up on the PC so that brings almost everything to a halt currently PC graphics cards are 200 or higher so if your willing to pay 800 - 1000 for a console then you might have your new graphics you want.
I have a Wii and still play it. I have the 360 and ps3. The Wiiu will still have its family games but nintendo is trying to get the hard core player and if ur console can do both then nintendo is on the right track. They are working with ea on the Wiiu online so nintendo is really trying with this Wiiu. To have casual hard core gamers is a good move I think.
I have my wii still and i will be honest, if it wasn't for zelda: skyward sword I probably wouldn't be playing it right now. And yes, i am excited for the wiiu because it seems that nintendo will seem to finally get some of the games that ps3 and 360 have been getting. I do think, however, that it may not be necessary to get if they will play the same as the 360 and ps3. If some exclusives were to come out or if the machine were to usher in the new gen. then I might go ahead and pick it up.
Nintendo has never really been hardcore. They had Perfect Dark back in the day but other games like Quake II and Doom 64 and Duke Nukem left out levels and watered down the material when on PSX the material was all left in.

Nintendo is following the same strategy as the first Wii. Beefed up current gen technology, which will be surpassed when the next Xbox and Playstation come out. Whatever. I just hope developers take more chances in the next gen. It's 1996 all over, where casual games, FPS, and maybe 1-4 AAA single player games run everything. All we need is a fighting game frenzy (SFIV & the newest Mortal Kombat sold well), and it really brings me back to the 90s. lol

Im a hardcore 360 player but im not a fanboy in the respect that i dont say ps3 sucks just because i have a 360. im very opened minded. My sister has a wii for her kids and on the wii they have mario and metroid. Now i will say this. Playing mario is fun but its the same thing over and over. I will give wii credit in one thing the metroid games are fun as fuck. As far as the fun rating. i put it up with bf3. ONLY the fun rating. It was a very well made game for wii. As for wii u. I dont want it.

I just got a wii since there were a few games I really wanted to play on it (skyward sword, mario galaxy 1 n 2) but if not for the few exclusives they have I would not have any interest in the machine at all. The huge controller looks a little off putting too, not sure how comfortable that would actually be to play with.

hard8 check this - type confirmed wiiu titles in google. they have multiplat IPs confirmed coming on it. some of those are darksiders, batman arkham city, assassins creed. in the list with possible games they listed aliens colonial marines, metro game, tekken title, battlefield title, fifa and madden and a possible bioshock. of course they also have all the nintendo IPs to get the attention of the core wii crowd. i am a pc guy but im looking forward to this thing, time will tell
I never had a Wii, not excited for Wii U. I understand what youre trying to explain about Nintendo's sales but.....Nintendo has always been kiddy friendly and didnt always sell well. N64 and Gamecube were failures in terms of sales and they were both kiddy friendly. Nintendo simply accessed a broader/ untapped market with the wii. Reggie stated that they are going for an even broader market with the Wii U so we have to wait and see what they mean. Im a Zelda, Mario and Star Fox fan do i have no choice but to get a Wii U sooner or later.
I think that people are so hard up for a new console that they will take the wii u so they can experience something new even if it is kiddie/family system. Nintendo's entire focus has never been to be a Casual or Hardcore Machine. Their entire focus is to be an EVERYBODY MACHINE. Which is why all of their games are for everybody.
The reason the Wii didn't have a lot of what you would call "HardCore" games is simply because the technology was not up to par for what Developers were willing to do. As simple as that. It was too weak. Now we did have a pretty good amount of "HardCore" games.

As for the Wii U, I'm not planning to buy it. The sales for the Wii U are gonna drop if they continue to push the Kid/Family games. The Wii didn't have alot of quality games after release, but if they start to push more games on the market, it'll do fine.

I'm waiting 2 or 3 years down the line before I think about buying a Wii U. Third party developers are notorious for not paying attention to Nintendo consoles. Even with all this power, I don't trust these devs to suddenly have a change of heart over night. Just being cautious going by Nintendo's track record.

I have a Wii, luckily it's my sister's but I played it maximum for about 1 hour the entire lifespan of the console. It's just feels so gimmicky and unnecessary. I'll stick to my keyboard and mouse and the good old fashioned gamepad. If there are action games that require you to physically engage in hand to hand combat and it isn't clunky, I'd give it a look.

I have a wii, and i started playing again becuz the legend of zelda skyward sword came out, it is a great game the only downside being the controls, but what you are saying is that nintendo, a company that is clearly losing money right now, is going to continue with the same tactics of throwing out piece of shit games that no one bought, i have been hearing that they will have mainstream crossplatform like skyrim, duty etc. so i dont see where you are getting that this is all they will have.

I just got a wii since there were a few games I really wanted to play on it (skyward sword, mario galaxy 1 n 2) but if not for the few exclusives they have I would not have any interest in the machine at all. I probably wont get the wii U on release either, I'll probably end up waiting til a price drop and pick it up with a few Nintendo exclusives like I did with the wii. The huge controller looks a little off putting too, not sure how comfortable that would actually be to play with.

hard8 check this - type confirmed wiiu titles in google. they have multiplat IPs confirmed coming on it. some of those are darksiders, batman arkham city, assassins creed. in the list with possible games they listed aliens colonial marines, metro game, tekken title, battlefield title, fifa and madden and a possible bioshock. of course they also have all the nintendo IPs to get the attention of the core wii crowd. i am a pc guy but im looking forward to this thing, time will tell

I understand what youre trying to explain about Nintendo's sales but.....Nintendo has always been kiddy friendly and didnt always sell well. N64 and Gamecube were failures in terms of sales and they were both kiddy friendly. Nintendo simply accessed a broader/ untapped market with the wii. Reggie stated that they are going for an even broader market with the Wii U so we have to wait and see what they mean. Nintendo's entire focus has never been to be a Casual or Hardcore Machine. Their entire focus is to be an EVERYBODY MACHINE. Which is why all of their games are for everybody.
The reason the Wii didn't have a lot of what you would call "HardCore" games is simply because the technology was not up to par for what Developers were willing to do. As simple as that. It was too weak. Now we did have a pretty good amount of "HardCore" games.

I have a Wii, luckily it's my sister's but I played it maximum for about 1 hour the entire lifespan of the console. It's just feels so gimmicky and unnecessary. I'll stick to my keyboard and mouse and the good old fashioned gamepad. If there are action games that require you to physically engage in hand to hand combat and it isn't clunky, I'd give it a look.
