  • You sir, are awesome.

  • @YetiMusicStation Thank You!

  • Great idea, I really think that you have a positive thing going with this, and i hope it can introduce what we all know is special, maybe even be a positive influince on some youg kids to keep the new blood coming into the hot rod world and most of all i hope it helps some families in your community. take care of yourself, good job on the car and i hope you have many great miles ahead of you. J.W. Hunt

  • brilliant idea!

  • More people need to see this. I completely agree with you man.

  • I just found you yesterday while I was looking for videos on the Ford 272 and I love your videos! Especially this one. Keep posting these awesome videos sir! Keep us all posted on if this idea will happen. I'm probably too far away to make it in any of my cars (Washington state) but I'd sure like to hear how it goes.

  • @dragknee650 Thank you and Welcome. I've got a few good friends out in Washington State. I plan to drive that '55 Ford there when I retire.

  • GOD BLESS YOU!!!

  • I remember this high dollar car guy a few years ago at our local car show pulling up and these kids asked him for a ride he said, "not a chance in hell". That just pissed me right off and was a big wake up call for me. Your idea is brilliant, I'm gonna start giving people rides in my big ol sled :) just to put a smile on their faces.

  • That's the best idea for a car show I've heard in a really long time. I hardly go to car shows because I get bored to tears the first 5 minutes I get there.

  • Excellent!

  • My younger brother and I would love to come up and visit sometime when my 53 is done.. we were just talkin about it when I seen ur reply.. haha itd be a fun road trip

  • Been a while since I've been on.. I've watched all ur videos of the rat rod build.. completely inspiring... I'm into a 1929 Plymouth and a 53 dodge Windsor deluxe right now.. check out my videos on my 53... I apologize in advance for my brothers language in a couple clips.. haha great videos Mr. Peek.. ill definitely keep watching:)

  • @lilhaag92 Thank You! Glad to have you back..

  • Great Short Clip

  • Best video you ever made! Let us know if your idea bears fruit.

  • @AeroSport103 I'm going to try to make this happen this summer. We'll see..

  • your brillant awesome idea

  • @bleachedpc I'm hopin' to make this happen next year. We'll see..

  • l LOVE IT DO IT!!!!!

  • i love the idea of the car show stuff i love how people think smetimes

  • absolutely do it! i dont have the space to build a hot rod of my own but i love em with a passion. ive only ever ridden in one muscle car tho. please do this and get other hot rodders to do it too. you could raise a ton of money this way.

  • @taylor2105 Yep, workin' on that. I'm not much for promoting a show, but we've got a group up here that does put on a show in the summer to raise funds for good causes, and I've proposed to do a ride-in rat rod show up here.

  • Man, I love the way you work and the way you think .

    Great job!

  • @Zenith50 Thank You!

  • and you could play the banjo a lil bit :) ide pay for that

  • love the idea i would line up and pay 5 bucks to ride in one of those. post a video of when and where that car show is. god bless

  • i am so with you. i like what you are talking about and it dose make sence to get some use of them and show the people y we love doing what we do.

  • Salute you Sir, you have a fantastic idea, I wish more people thought the way you do, please keep the videos and great ideas coming, God bless you Sir.

  • Great idea for a ride in a hot rod, your on the right track, any time you can help people and benefit others your helping yourself in the long run. Wish I can make you run, I'm not formular with your location, if I can make it I surly will. Tony G.

  • Gonna have to build me a rat rod

  • If im not mistaken you sir have maine plates on your car

  • @orckiller91 Yes I do!

  • @rpeek where abouts in maine? Im over in New Hampshire

  • @orckiller91 Midcoast Maine..

  • @rpeek nice, maybe at somepoint we will run into eachouther at a jam

  • @orckiller91 That'd be cool..

  • That is a great idea. Think we should make a video of people not liking old cars then going for a ride and then getting out with a changed mind. Would make people see why we like them

  • Well I think your idea is great best of luck and god bless

  • I'd love to drive over but I'm the wrong side of the planet...

  • Now you're talkin'. Good Idea. A car "do" instead of a car "show". lol. Have fun. Good luck.

  • I think it is a great idea...i saw your car this past summer up to Bob's ( Steals Real) I think it is a cool idea and i would give rides in my SS too...

  • @Pete112169 Which SS was yours?

  • BEST IDEA EVER!!!

I hope the trend takes off!!!

I'd love to see something like that around her!

Best of luck to you getting it started!

  • I'd pay 5 bucks to ride in a rat rod. :) Not something I have the time or money for right now, but 5 or 10 bucks for a fun ride sounds awesome!

Amusement parks charge a couple hundred bucks for a fun ride. :P

  • Mate If the world had more people like you we would be in far better shape...

I love your enthusiasm and I can tell your a good person, I really like the Rat and have followed your build videos and was good to see how you do your thing esp painting the wheels just brilliant..

Im also not musical in anyway yet im now making a gas can banjo due to your videos.. Keep it up and have a good one..

  • @triniriderz well, there ya go. You make a gas can banjo, next thing you know you'll be playin' it, and then you'll be infected by the whole banjo bug thing, and you never get over that.. hahahaha. Good luck to ya.

  • Now I'm not a christian but your thoughts are great, gave me some hope for humanity back.

I'd love to live on the american countryside sometime but I'm afraid i wont fit in because of my beliefs or views, maybe I'm prejudice but most people there seem pretty religious.

I love how people seem openhearted and warm there though, but I have bad experiences with religious people who do not agree with me, I was raised christian too.

  • WOW!!! Love your Videos!! That has got to be the coolest shifter I have ever seen! Keep em comeing man!

  • This is Fantastic!!!And man would I love to see your car in person!!It's a shame I live so far away, all the way down in New Zealand!

  • @UnvarnishedVisuals Yea, that'd be quite a hike to get here... hahaha. Thanks.

  • Hallelujah....

  • when i watch ur videos i think everytime that when i get to be your age i want to be like you happy and into something that fills my heart completely and even use to try and help people god bless u my friend im 19 but when im your age i hope i have the look in your eyes when your driving in your rat rod ...man is that something to look forward too!!

  • @elmero219r Hahahahaha.. Life is good..

  • @rpeek So did it work? Did anyone donate to your church to ride in your rat rod? I think it is a great idea you have to raise money for good causes!

  • the cash for clunkers really put a hurtin on the ymca in our town ,people that normally donated there car got the cash for clunkers ,and the Y really depended on the money they got auctioning these cars off to help alot of people in the community,i think your idea would work good ,people pay to take rides in swamp buggy's ,airboats ,airplanes ,why not in an old rod

  • @thechevyscrounger Right on!

  • @thechevyscrounger look up Stacey David from Gears and see what he has to say about the Cash for Clunkers. It hurt alot of industries. It was not a well thought out plan. But it helped the Big Car Industries.

  • capitol idea !! it may be a way to get young people more interested in old cars and less interested in sitting in front of the video games all the time. i will share this great idea!!

  • I like what you did with the piston on the stick. I got an old piston from a lawnmower, I'll have to put on the stick in my nissan.

  • @mrtheroosterdude That's a photo I'd want to see.

  • just spent an hour veiwing your vids, love your work

    keep at it.

    cheers barnsey

  • @barnsey062 Thank You!

  • You look so happy when you're driving. Excellent video

  • Mr peek you are one awesome dude, great idea. Keep up the hard work, ignore idiots like cab crusher. The world needs more good people like yourself! :)

  • @willmeyerson cab crusher who?

  • I absolutely LOVE this idea! I've been online this morning looking for ways to make a car show different and raise money for our local Special Olympics. I have been around car guys all my life and they have gigantic hearts - this could be really cool.

Thank you for posting this video - I'll have to let you know if I get mine going

    Toni (Indianapolis)

  • @tosharri Cool Toni! Let me know how it turns out. I think it's a great idea. I'm not a show producer, but a buddy of mine said today he'd like to put together a "home made hot rod show" and I was thinking we could make it happen there, maybe..

  • GR8 Idea..keep us posted on the main event...thanks

  • yea! what's the point of doing all this if you'r not going to share the luv?

  • @calD57 'Zactly!

  • awsum idea

  • Now wouldn't the World be such a Better place If We Had more People thinking like that. Thinking about other People not just there own greedy selfish desires.

  • lol at the people who get so mad about cars like this. Soo funny. Rpeek you are awesome!

  • Take that POS to a f*cking junk yard..( they probaly wouldnt want it either..) and have it CRUSHED..!!! Take your redneck azz BACK to your trailer and f*king bury yourself in a pit of cement....!! You guys make it BAD for anyone with your lack on mentality to even be TOUCHING a set of tools.!

  • @Cabcrusher and this is what he talking about..

Have you ever seen one of these things running? have you ever ridden or driven one? cause i am guessing not.

These cars are amazingly awesome. Takes alot of creativity and patience and welding. And when your done and firing that old rebuilt motor up for the first time and listening to that loud rumble of the engine for the first time.. Its pure heaven on earth.

  • @Cabcrusher is cab crushing slow this time of year? now you wanna start crushing cool old cars? these cars are art, and the people building them are artists. I bet some fool 2000 years ago called himself picturecrusher and told vangoh to crush his paintings because the eyes were crooked and the noses were upside down. if they looked like normal off the showroom cars, well they wouldn't be no fun and we wouldn't be talented artistic builders we'd just be you and well, that wouldn't be fun either

  • Good idea. Good build. Enjoy all of your videos. I like the way you think.

  • Great Idea.. But you better wait for mine to be ASSEMBLED.. Going as fast as I can peek! - Take Care.. Rob in NH

  • Comment removed

  • very awsome idea! maybe not even limit it to old cars, rarer sports cars, big trucks, etc...

  • @theblackmech Why not? The more the merrier!

  • nice hot rod rpeek pretty cool.

  • I so agree with this awesome god bless :)

  • Once my superchargers in Id love to do this with you guys if it ever happens, as long as youll let a new school rod ride with ya. :)

  • @cutlassburnin I think it's for a good cause. Anybody that has an interesting car that someone would pay to ride in could do it. It's all for a good cause, and helps to introduce folks to the sport..

  • you may just be a genius . I love the Idea.

  • @LEBatte Thank You! I think it's a good idea.. I'm hopin' to do this, if not this year, for sure by next year..

  • That is a awesome idea.. I hope you get it up and going we need more people like you in this world!

  • Hey Richard, That sounds like a great idea. It could apply to any kind of fund raising car show, churchs, schools, Scouts, VFW's, etc....I know alot of people would love to have the chance to ride around in some of the cars at the shows. $5 for 5 miles wouldn't be a bad idea. Keep us posted on how it turns out for ya'll. Have a goodin, yf, kdwoodjr

  • You're absolutely right and I think it would do the sport good for us to be gettin' folks out there and lettin' 'em ride in these old cars we love. I'll keep ya posted.

  • @rpeek Yeah, I have a 72 SS Chevelle and a 70 AMC Hornet i'm in the process of restoring, as funds allow, LOL.......I plan on putting them in some local car shows once I get them in shape. Love the old cars. No sensors, computers and all the other crap a car doesn't need. Have a goodin, yf, kdwoodjr.

  • THAT IS A GREAT IDEA

my kids were raised around hotrods

you should hear them try to explain the thrill of it to their friends.

Everyone should be exposed to hot rods and have the fun of riding in one it is easier to explain that way .

The term "rat rod" was first used by the high dollar, show cars guys to describe the low-buck, home built cars.

Don't forget the roots of the (street rod), it was the little guy in a garage on a budget

it is where the real hot rodders live.

  • It is a great idea old cars are great every one should be exposed to them .

my kids were exposed to old cars and hotrods and they think its great you should hear them explain it to their friends

my son wanted to know why they did not part out the cash for clunker cars to people who were poor unemployed and needed parts and could not afford parts. He and my daughter think everyone should ride in a hot rod at least once it easyer to explain the thrill that way.

  • If your son ever runs for president, let me know.. I'll vote for him..

  • ya now i feel the same way they should do that im more then happy to take my fury and take people for a ride and why dont some of the car shows dont even cruise nights they should thats the coolest part heck i now before i had my car id gave some one 5 bucks for a ride around town it would blown my mind

  • The pastor came over yesterday and we were in the garage lookin' at the hotrod and I explained the idea to him and he thought it was a great idea.. Looks like it's going to happen. I'll keep ya posted.

  • I'd love to support you in any way I could, but I'm only 18 and from Sweden :/

  • nice work.

    keep it goin for Jesus!

he gave us the skills and the love, so lets share it.

  • if anybody steals the thought....all the better....5

  • Yep, I agree. That's why I put it out there..

  • lol, I would be broke by the end of the day.

  • great idea..any news on when you're gonna get it goin? id love to ride in that old hot rod!

  • I think you have a great idea there,and all for good things...super !!!

  • Those are great ideas you have. Hats off to you. Nice gearshift lever too.

  • I'd kill to have something like your idea in my area

  • White beard and hair, glasses, desire to help people, and wisdom.

This man is the real Santa

  • Ho Ho Ho....

  • I love your thinking, and I think we can help get the message out. If you don't mind I'll link it to a couple of the clubs I'm part of on Yahoo and Facebook. Who knows, it may spread quickly.

  • That would be awesome..

  • sounds like fun........where do you lve?

    (state?)

  • Maine..

  • Cash for a cruise? Man, thats a great idea!

  • GREAT IDEA RPEEK!!!!!!

  • I'd pay you do go for a ride! Way to let your light shine! Blessings on you, brother!

  • im not even into this kind of stuff, but this is definitely cool, everything about this video

i love how he has a separate audio track of him talking in the background. lol....at first I was like "is there someone else in the garage? lol" - Awesome

I would love to ride in that thang!

great and unique idea to raise money for good causes

  • Thanks... Now let's see if I can pull this off....

  • You're look so happy :D

    nice cars

  • It's great to see another fellow Christian going out and raising money for the poor! Your idea is absolutely great; I think that fundraiser would work fantastically.

As a 15 year old boy; I would love to go for a ride in one of those! Keep doing great things for God.

    -Nick

  • Thank You Nick! Yea, I'm lookin' forward to the show. Should be wicked good fun..

  • hey we even got that here in denmark i live in copenhagen and evry year beginning of summmer a bike club with speciel cars also give pepole rides for cherety and they love it , good fun

  • That sounds awesome.. Thanks for sharing..

  • Well most often the children are thrilled and then you see the look on the Dads face like "WHAT ABOUT ME!" SO I let one and all set in the car and sometimes even fire her up so they will just possibly decide to join the hobby not just dream of doing so. And that is what is wonderful about the "RAT ROD". "ENJOYING THE HOBBY!" Not just having a untouchable object that you dare not share or enjoy. You da man Richard!

  • Thank You. I'm onto this idea. Got to get mine road legal, by spring so I can spring this idea on the Church and see if they'll go along with it. Suspect they will.. Great lookin' Nash you've got there.

  • This is a really great idea! I have a unusual car that I like to take to the car shows and as people with children come along I ask the parents if they would mind if their children sat in the car.

  • That is cool...

  • Great Idea, Richard! I like looking at those glorious old cars but I'd love to take a ride in one even more. And it would be double fun to know that the bucks you spend to get a ride were going to go to a good cause. I think you could start a national movement here.

    Will H

  • I'm tryin' to... Let's see if it works!

  • great idea man i was out your way id come down... like your style

  • Thank You!

  • probly the best idea iv herd in a long time...

  • Your enthusiasm is kind of infectious, I think that people may realise from your videos that cars that rattle, squeak and are cantankerous can be FUN.

  • Yea, wicked fun.. Yessir!

  • question for ya you every had an engine poor out pure white smoke out of an old engine and it isnt, oil or coolent, i got a 49 ford, that puts out a big smoke screan went running, its not oil or coolent, checked can find a vacum leak ??? any ideals it looks just like if you sprayed carb cleaner down the carb, it started after i rebuilt the carb, i took the darn thing apart at least 10 xs cant find nothin wrong,??? i'm baffled

  • Does it do that continuously? In other words, if it runs a while does it stop? My first thought is water (coolant) since that smokes white. Oil is usually blue or black.. But you said you checked that. Can't imagine anything about the carb would cause that. I'd be looking for a sign that it's buring the coolant, which I'm sure you've already done. Other than that I can't imagine anything.

  • i found out what it was lol when i made the gasket for the carb at intake, i did punch a hole where the air fuel mix vent is on the bottom of carb, it would let the air and fuel mix, its always the stupid stuff lol,

  • Interesting. So the smoke was unburnt gas. I was thinking about that, driving to work yesterday. Glad you got it fixed..

  • ya i forgot to punch a hole in the gasket to let the air fuel mix work, i had it happen on my 55 plymouth savoy, but there was a hole in the vacume advance dish pot diapham , and it white smoke like crazy, back to the flathead i puched a hole in all three gaskets for the airfuel mix ,dont smoke now, knock on wood lol

  • Good deal..

  • I think that is a great idea. I am sure God does too :) He is smiling down on you.

  • i like the new style you use with the commentary, new england winter is coming, iam not up for it

  • Thanks... Yea, I'm learning. I'm not ready for winter either. Got to find me a winter beater..

  • I think that's a great idea! Good potential to do good things!

  • I think so.. Thanks. !

  • good idea ya know i got hooked on cars way back when i was a youngin when my uncle brought us an old beat up 1975 ford torino with the 351 cleveland boy i tell ya to hear the rumble of that big v8 is something ill never forget sadly dad sold the car to a junkman and never seen it since but thats what got me hooked on anything automotive keep the dreams alive thats for sure

  • Thanks for the comment.. I agree.

  • What a great idea! cash for clunkers is a joke.

  • This is the second or third video I have seen of yours and I think what you're doing is great. I stumbled across you while i was looking for videos of a1965 rambler american and I got hooked on your "when cars had fins" video. I live in PA, im not sure where your at but I would love to be a part of a car show like that. I'm only 22, but i'd like to thank you for keeping this way of life alive.

  • Thank you too. I'm going to try to make that "ride out" happen. We'll see if I can pull it off. Appreciate the comment.. Take care.

  • Great idea, when i was a younger owned a rusty old1962 Ford Consul, a 1958 Ford Prefect and a ledsledded Morris Minor. People couldnt get enough of driving around in them...to the shops or just round the block, folks loved it...I wanna get me another classic

  • Awesome.. I always thought the Morris Minor looked like a lot of fun..

  • Yeah it was great. I lowered it so much the petrol tank was dragging on the ground when it had passengers. Didnt take long before a hole appeared...lucky it didnt catch fire really...i was pretty young then lol

  • Amazing the things we got away with back then, eh?

  • thats sounds like an awesome idea

  • hella good idea rpeek! any time you can turn your passion into something that can be so beneficial to your community, you are truly blessed. i hope you have all the success in the world with this; who knows, mabye this idea will lead to a greater appreciation of the hot rod culture as a whole. after all, who could argue the nature of the generosity?

  • Yea, that's what I think too.. Thanks.

  • Great Idea rpeek...!

  • It's a good idea... I've had similar thoughts while attending car shows. For example, we have a local show here called The Arlington Drag Strip Reunion, but they only start the dragsters and won't allow any of them to make a run due to liability I'm sure. I had to grin when you talked about all of the signs telling folks not to touch and so on. That's what I like about rat rods. Most owners say you CAN touch them... Don't take no for an answer... Just do it!

  • I plan too.. Would love to see some other folks doing it too.. Who ever said car shows had to be parking lot shows? Cars can be shown on the street.... Yessir! Thanks.

  • Very interesting idea

  • Amen! amen! that is a beautiful idea! I like where you're going with that idea.

  • Thanks.

  • Watch out for insurance issues - namely being nailed for operating as a taxi(!) Might be worth thinking about how to separate the donations from the rides somehow but still having the same effect - cash for rides.

  • Well the rides will be free and the donations voluntary. And I'm not taking them anywhere, except back to the car show, and it's only a one day event. I'm sure the Church will want to consider liability issues and I will to, but I've got some time to work on the idea. I'm thinking we can figure out a way to make it fun and make it happen.

  • If the feds made as much sense as you did we wouldnt be in such a mess! Definately a great idea. I wish I had the time to build me a ratrod... but I skipped my senior year of highschool, went straight into college, and I have a tired old ford f150 that me and dad are totally redoin. Well, anyway... great ratrod!

  • Well that F 150's a fine ride. What year? On top of that, with that college education you'll be able to afford a lot of cool cars down the road..

  • 95 f150 with 300straight six 4X4-5speed. So far, we have completely rebuilt the chassis and everything we used was stripped down from that cruddy factory paint and we used rustoleum truck bed liner on all hardware. Then... all new springs and shocks all around! Now we are workin on refurbishing this decent core support we got at a junkyard for 20 bucks.

  • Sweet... Good work..

  • oh and one more thing that I learnt from the story of Chris McCandless (Into the Wild a movie and a book, a true story). Just before he died, he wrote this : Happiness only exists when shared. My way of lifes based on that sayin. And this it what your intendin to do ! And it is totally great

  • I agree.. Thanks.

  • that is one HONKIN idea ! I wish I'd live near from you, id be in that thing for SURE ! thats really what I like, gettin those cars useful ! I wish you the best for that idea, keep us updated !

  • I'll keep ya posted..

  • i think that u have a grate idea i axuly live in dayton ohio u tell me when an ware ill bring my hot rod no prob

  • Okay, I'll keep you posted.

  • Great idea! I think I will try to use this idea for a " show/ride" here. When I had a 36 Chevy, I let my kids slide down the front fenders. They didn't understand why they couldn't do it at car shows! I'll have to get some more people involved in this show/ride. Hardly anyone has ever wanted to ride in my Rambler "Ratblur", maybe they just don't get it. Keep up the good work!

  • Thank You! Let me know how that works out..

  • when I go to car shows, I start my car, raise it up and down, tell people to PLEASE touch it. I let kids crawl around in it and I let them honk the air horn.. its so much more fun. I think your Idea is great!

  • Yea, just imagine how much fun it'd be to drive the cars, at the show, instead of just lettin' 'em sit..

  • Awesome Idea.....I hope I can attend when you get 'er set up!
