  • @anonymousbl00dlust and @modshroom you guys have no idea what you are talking about. TAS = tool assisted speedrun. A ROM is used with a specific emulator to slow the game down frame by frame to make ''perfect'' input available. Its more of an art-form than talent. It is illegal to distribute roms to people, however, if you own a cartridge of the game, it within your right to back up your property as you see fit. i.e. you can download the rom only if you own the cartridge legally. QQ

  • Whoa......

  • The Japanese obviosly hate Yoshis

  • do people use save states features to do these TAS's

  • @modshroom no, that would be cheating

  • @anonymousbl00dlust

then what do they use slowdown tools?

  • @modshroom Yes, we use savestates. We also use slowdown and frame advance. We also use a bunch of other more complicated things.

  • @modshroom they don't, and if they do, they are cheating. No one uses slowdown in a TAS. Tool Abstinent Speedrun: that's what TAS stands for.

Don't listen to Adetque, he is either trying to fool you or he is a fraud. Think about it, how could he record a video of him playing the level at fullspeed w/o loading unless he either a) doctored the video or b) did it without tools?

  • @anonymousbl00dlust Haha. "Tool Abstinent Speedrun" made me laugh.

  • @anonymousbl00dlust

You don't have a fucking clue what you are talking about. First of all TAS stands for "tool articulated speed" run, second of all they do use lots of different software tricks like speeding up the game so they can't tell how fast they are really going, and also a little tool called "an emulator" which lets them edit the game saves in order to mix and match (ie combine) different roms to achieve the desired effects.

AKA sonic 3's framerate and speed powerups in donkey kong 2

  • @modshroom emulators require rom images to play, and rom images are illegal to distribute. so unless you are trying to suggest that every TASer managed to dump rom images off their original cartriges, and ALL of those dumped roms were somehow magically compatible with tool-equipped emulators right off the bat, then everyone involved in your little theory is a felon.

  • @anonymousbl00dlust

Wrong again bro. Roms are image files that can be aquired with any home camera. As long as the "Speed Runner" takes HIS OWN PICTURES of HIS OWN PURCHASED games then he is legally allowed to upload those pictures to the emulator to play and tweak whatever game he so chooses to get the best times.

    It's all legal. 100% legal.

  • @modshroom the TAS community is morally upright and highly dignified. Your blind accusations are unfounded and offensive. I happen to work at youtube and I am very close to reporting to my supervisor. Consider this a warning bro.

  • @anonymousbl00dlust

Not to come off as threatening, but my dad works at halo and if you think for a second I would let you ban my youtube account without having your xbox live account hacked and deleted then think again.

  • i don't get the point of playing a hack which can only be finished using bug abuse

  • @molitva2007 Entertainment

  • MOVE FASTER POKEY!

  • Poor, neglected, abused Yoshi : (

  • 2:15...yeah I guss its better than a pokie

  • You're japanese, right?

  • @PianoMosh No.

  • @Adetque I see :D

  • 4:47 Move faster pokey!!!

  • DAMN!

  • OMG 1:57

  • this look way more harder then kaizo mario

  • 2:24

    O____O!

  • This is insane :S Is there any human in the world who can finish these levels without any slowdowns or any tools?

  • wtf ;___;

  • Thehoundsquad, thank you for making that reference.

    Protonjonsa rocks.

  • i don't know how i could survive all this. great job man!

  • Move faster pokey!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Sorry for this question, I'm sure you were asked several times, but where do I get these "Tools" for the speedrun?

  • @9inchitalian Most of the tools used are built into the emulator. This includes frame advance, slowdown, savestates, and RAM tracking. Snes9x is the best emulator for SNES TASing, and it has all of these tools. There's also hex editing movies, which you'll have to use a hex editor for.

  • @Adetque Ah, okay. Thank you.

  • @Adetque like Zsnes?

  • @Davidtruthrock ZSNES works, but not very well. It doesn't have frame advance, and movies desync a lot.

  • @Adetque

So you cant play hacks with it?

  • @Davidtruthrock Yeah, you can play hacks on any SNES emulator.

  • @Adetque

But how do you play them I download them And nothing will work Just how do you play them?

  • @Davidtruthrock What exactly are you doing, and what error are you getting?

  • @Adetque

I mean when I download them They just give me things but not the hack

  • @Davidtruthrock What do you mean 'things'? If you mean .ips files, then you need to use an IPS patching program such as Lunar IPS to patch the original SMW ROM.

  • @Adetque

Yeah I meant the .ips files

P.S oh I just did not knew that

  • @Davidtruthrock Patch them to a clean SMW ROM.

  • I could never win that first level

  • wow this hack is ugly (meaning glitchy) but otherwise this hack is pretty cool... 4/5!

  • 3:25 as it is, PIXEL PERFECT WORLD! XD

  • 3:18 Just scroll the screen to make the jump.

  • That wouldn't work since then the koopas would be too low to make the jump.

  • No, the other way. Away from the koopas. That way, they're higher when you jump.

  • Then I wouldn't be able to jump on the first koopa.

  • You sure? I was able to do it by scrolling the screen left after the chucks, then just running forwards and jumping.

  • Yeah I'm pretty sure.

  • About a minute

  • MOVE FASTER POKEY!

  • oh my fuckin god >DD

  • Response to LightBlueYoshi: I had made the level without knowing of key jumping, believe it or not. For some reason I forgot to edit that section and just assumed I had made it unbreakable, haha.

And the walljumping... made me cry.

  • The part where you had to knock down the Pokey to make it through was creative, haha...

I liked the level skipping in the first level. Why didn't the creator think of that, anyways? =S

  • Wow, Epic. Though I saw a few flaws :P

    1:30 Couldn't you have used 37/49?

2:01 I think you can make that jump without walljump xD

3:29 You could use the P-Switch to go through those yellow bricks in the first wall.

  • 1:30 Can't 6/5

2:01 For entertainment, I had to wait for the urchin anyway

3:29 Most of the yellow blocks are solid. Some aren't though. Found out which ones arent by looking in LM

Also, I saw some improvements while I was TASing it, like with the Pokey I could have lowered it a bit more with the shell so I could have gotten to the ledge earlier. There are more, but I really don't feel like listing them, and at the time, I really didn't want to fix them.

  • Ah, well why couldn't you 6/5 at 1:31?

  • You try 6/5ing in a 1 block high pathway like that. It just doesn't work.

  • Pfft, I do it all the time xD

Press switch between "A" and "B" every frame :P

  • That's not 6/5ing

    ht tp: / / tasvid eo s. or g/Su perMa rioWorld Trick s. h tm l # 6 % 2 05 (remove the spaces)

  • Well, I was talking about the Hopping glitch

    ht tp :/ / t a svi d e os . or g / S uper M ari oW o rld T ri c ks . h tml # H o p p in g Gli tc h

  • I wanted to keep the P-meter at 112.
