  • where do you get the hair??? i need hair for a Billy the puppet from Saw, do you know of any good sites or stores for hair?

  • @MohawkKid10 Check your local beauty supply shops.

  • I just discovered your video... The only question that I still ask myself, is how you made the white "statue" on which you put the silicon... Have you sculpted it ? I don't think so... So what's the technique ? :/

  • @Zuxilbaja This is a hydrocal lifecast. You can see the lifecasting process illustrated in some of our other videos.

  • what kind of cast is that? for years I've wanted to make gel-10 gloves/feet but I have no idea how to go about it (?)

  • no top comments.its my time to shine...I LIKE CHEESE

  • How much to make this, aprox? Thanks

  • @g1rla Check some of the previous coments. I believe we have already broken down the various costs of materials.

  • Dear sir, can you plz help me,tell me what product did you used to prepare this

    exactly..................plz sir its an urgent

  • @darkocean777 Go to 9:16

  • Dear sir, can you plz help me,tell me what product did you used to prepare this exactly..................plz sir its an urgent

  • hey man can you plz tell me what product did you used to prepare this exactly..................plz man its an urgent

  • Cool rhat is so cool

  • like this if u cringed at 7:46

  • Inception!

  • See dude. That's an actual creepy mask. THAT'S what we need on halloween now-a-days. Not this boo boo baby-safe so-called "scary" garbage!

  • you are great man! how do you make the inside of the open mouth? you didn't put gel in your mouth, did you? XD

  • @DrCoturd Check out the head cast with 880 video and you'll see how we did that.

  • I'm a bit confused about using PlatThix vs. TinThix with Platsil Gel 10. I know that this product is a Platinum based silicone, but I've seen TWO vids where you used the TinThix instead of PlatThix with it. Why? Do TinThix and PlatThix offer different properties?

    Coooool Vid! Thanks!

  • @Yanninyree Both thickeners will work in Platinum silicones. Platthix offers a more variable thickening effect whereas Tinthix is very potent and only a few grams added will result in a very thick, peanutbutter-like paste.

  • wow!!!

  • Guys? If i wanted to make a full silicone mask! I started with making a clay and so on! Airbrushing and shhez. Is the neil gordon the right DVD's for that?

  • @AddictedtoKanelsnegl Yes. The 4 disc set "Creating Character prosthetics" covers the process of sculpting, molding, casting, painting, and applying a full head silicone prosthetic/mask.

  • where can i get one of these "retarders"? lol jks great vid :D

    (y)

  • What is your head form? I can't get shoulders with my styrofoam head :/

  • Great videos that I have seen so far! I would love to see you guys make a mask I had in mind. Do you by any chance take requests? Heck, I'd even buy it if it looked similar to the character.

  • Just wow.

  • How much does a Lifecast cost? What are the basic materials and quantities needed for a mask like this?

  • @NickSandlinTV Check some of the earlier comments. I think this has been covered. Current pricing is on our webstore and we do offer starter kits and head armatures.

  • thanks so much for making this ... DONT STOP!

  • Wouldn't it have been better to paint the jaw bone before putting it in the mask?

  • Great video!

  • do you have to make a life-cast to make a slosh mold

  • @dorkboy394 Not sure what you mean.

  • @brickintheyard That's cool I figured it out.

  • What is the total cost for all the materials and parts just for 1 mask only? I want to make a mast for myself for this halloween. PLease help thanks you.

  • @fresno93703 The cost will vary depending on what size kit you purchase and how detailed or large of a mask you make. You can expect to spend ~$75 for a mask like this but, again, it will vary based on what kind of finished product you want. Check our webstore for current Gel-10 pricing.

  • You guys are so cool for makign this video. Hardly anyone on youtube makes videos like this, and this the exact kinda thing i want to watch, i mean who dosnt want to know how to make pro horror masks?

  • @SamHain1031666 Well said my good man, well said.

  • 6 People thought the Thumbs down was actually the DOWNLOAD button

    This video is AMAZING!

  • @Toyman1982 LMAO!

  • what is part A and part B?

  • @casiezar Gel-10 is an RTV silicone (room temp. vulcanizing) which is made up of a base and catalyst or "A" and "B".

  • scary

  • oh my god!

  • is this material you used also used with bald caps

    this question is random

  • @horsevidkids Why yes, it is random! We have made bald caps with Gel-10 before, but you have to be careful with latex bald caps around Gel-10 as latex can inhibit the cure of platinum silicone.

  • Sylvester Stallone??

  • helloween next....

  • That's Soooo cool! I can't wait to become a special effects artist (: you should teach classes and such!

  • This is awesome.

  • A really fun one is the zombie broken jaw

  • Id like to take a course with you guys!!

  • Omfg! You've inspired me!!

  • I was wondering what type of courses you had to take to learn this i want to go to college to do this but i don't know what this major would be called

  • @lananaXxX Not sure there is a college course that covers this. Major in sculpture. That's the next best thing!

  • That's so sick haha, I love it!

  • This is amazing

  • Do you know of any tutorials on making a mask using a core mold..? You'd think I could find one...but NOOOOO!!

  • That's creepy o.o but cool

  • ggggrrrooosseee

  • this is fascinating

  • are these silicone materials available for romania on that website ?? please respond :D

  • @Szikla5G Our webstore calculates that automatically so check there and see. I believe we do ship to Romania, though.

  • @brickintheyard where is you;;re website I want a MASK!!!!!

  • @jgantner1 9:15 BTW, we sell the supplies, not the finished masks. You supply the creativity!!

  • @brickintheyard BUT WHERE IS YOU'RE WEBSITE???/

  • @brickintheyard oh thanx

  • a+++++++++++

  • THANKS,sir. Now im afraid to go camping!

  • im planning on making a freddy krueger mask not the new the one with robert englund

  • I don't know where I would be without you. Absolute legend!

  • @16Arson **blush** Thanks! We'll do our best to keep the how-to info coming!

  • How come you didn't put the hair on the right side of the mask where the jaw was ripped. I think it would have been cool if the hair had been hanging off the torn jaw since hair was there "before" it's face was ripped off. \

  • @jamesmarc30 This was done in about an hour. We wanted to demo the technique not give a forensic tutorial. :)

  • @brickintheyard I understand that...it is an awesome job, I just thought it would be more life like...thanks for the response and keep up the good work!

  • what course would u study to get into this line of work?

  • @nchung4 You stop studying altogether!! OK, maybe not. Take lots of sculpting courses!

  • That's awesome!

  • looks awesome

  • Omg,this is so cool :D

  • Bigfoot got his ass handed to him by a bear.

  • I AM GOING TO DO THIS FOR A LIVING PRETTY SOON

  • how much would it cost to make a simple face mask please help

  • @Christianpylesiswhom Go to our bebstore and you can find current Gel-10 prices there. It takes about 1 lb for just a face.

  • Great job!!

  • Amazing!

  • i went from watching lasers to this

  • @ganaschico Such is the way of the youtube.

  • Your videos are incredibly helpful and inspiring!

    Thank you.

  • do you alsow shipping this stuff to switzerland?

i wana try to make a mask or somthing like that. =)

  • @LeichenParty Check our website to see where we ship.

  • @KKHAOSPRODUCTIONS No, we just sell the materials. You supply the creativity!

  • @brickintheyard that sucks i would love 2 buy one! :)

  • This is totally awesome :D

  • I'm looking to make an animal head with a muzzle and ears that come off the actual wearer's head, they they'd need to be able to support themselves and not flop over. Is there any of your products you recommend for doing this?

  • @Dombrus You might need to make a Gel-10 skin backed up with a urethane flexible foam like F5 or F3.

  • Please can you make a vide about how to make a normal realistic mask?

  • @1ShaneDawsonsBigFan1 We sell the Neill Gorton 4 part series that covers that process in great detail. Our youtube content is just additional, free how-to goodness.

  • This is really th best video i have seen on the tube.. Fantastic way to create a really fast ask, and it is really quite realistic and disturbing.

  • @bowelrock Thanks! I had fun making it. I had this concept floating around in my head for a while and finally got it on video.

  • about how much is all the miterals please tell me

  • @paulman64 check some of the earlier comments. I believe this has been discussed at length. Current pricing is on our webstore.

  • awesome :o

  • about how much does a mask like that cost? but a kind of mask that moves identically with your face such as you jaw and mouth

  • @MegaGuitarmaster101 Cost on this kind of mask is directly proportional to your skill level. If you are just looking for a silicone mask there are other sites that sell finished masks.

  • @brickintheyard lets say just in general what price do they usually cost?

  • @MegaGuitarmaster101 A mask like the one in this video is going to be about $100. If you are asking about finished silicone masks I would check with manufacturers of those masks for more info.

  • @jojo56ist Don't know what you mean.

  • As usual, you have THE FINEST, most thoroughly explained and well shot FX vids I've seen, bar none. Out of curiosity, do you do conventional, old-school mold/cast/foam latex appliance-type of work, or do you work almost exclusively with Platsil? I'm wondering how say, a Freddy Krueger burn makeup--which is highly sculpted--can practically be done using the Platsil approach. Love your vids, keep up the fantastic work!

  • @creepsomber Don't have much need for foam latex anymore. I used to work alot in latex, coldfoam and such, but with the advent of translucent silicone and HD movies silicone has won out over latex and other opaque materials. As for the Freddy makeup, I would sculpt that 1st in chavant over a lifecast and then mold it. Thta might be a difficult sculpt to pull off in straight platsil.

  • how did you make the cast?

  • @thefoxmandog This is a "cliff notes" overview. Check out our other videos or our full length DVD: "Fundamentals of Silicone Skins"

  • is it me or does the guy doing the voice over kinda sound like Jim Henson?

  • awesome! :o

  • Needs a throat insert with upper teeth and tongue to cover the actors lips. Otherwise golden.

  • i think it would have looked better without the facial hair.

  • @Camparky4 Just how-to info and supplies, no masks.

  • I have no idea how I got here, but fucking awsome

  • @dalladeien I ask myself that all the time on youtube! Look up the black dude mask, hilarious randomness.

  • @Camparky4 Not at the moment...

  • OH XD sorry!

  • @Mike27MB Dang, make it 903245.

  • You said Gel-10 like...903231 times. NO OFFENCE!

  • @Mike27MB Make that 903239 times. I just said it out loud 8 times here in the shop.

  • poor weave TT^TT i could have used that -sniffles-

  • haha i called these guys and i only wanted to spend like 120 and i ended up spending like 166 haha

  • u guys r fucking awsome

  • i want to make a clown mask, and im gonna get a foam manikan head. from ebay. and clay mold it. then make a negative. then gel 10 it. is that how i should do it? and about silicon face paint. ill need like blue, red, and white. what do you recommend?

  • @Val0n Call us.

  • do u have 2 add the flocking?

  • @11funnydude Flocking is optional. It just adds a little more realism to the color.

  • Heh, wiggly wiggly.

  • for the products used, about how much is all of that stuff? caz i work at a haunted hayride and want to make a legit clown mask. but have NO idea about gels and what not. can you PM me?

  • @Val0n Our contact info is at 9:17

  • @brickintheyard thank you sir :D

  • is this safe to wear or should i be concerned?

  • @TheRaemoney You should be very concerned! Gel-10 is lethal if touched by human hands and must only be mixed and applied by monkeys wearing Nitrile gloves. Seriously, Gel-10 is skin safe, hence this application.

  • were do you work and can i buy a mask from u?

  • @hayman122 We just sell the supplies for making masks.

  • Did you sculpt the open mouth?

  • @UchihaMoonSerenity This is made from a lifecast mold. The process is illustrated in several other videos we have up.

  • can you see out of it?

  • @Gmod4ThaWin Just out of the right eye.

  • HOLY CRAP! ITS BRITTNEY!

  • That's so freakin cool ''HAPPY HALLOWEEN WHAUAUAUAUA'' xD

  • can u please post a video of u making a freddy krueger silicone mask, making masks looks really cool and i would deffinateley want too start doing it someday

  • awesoommee

  • Great video! This is so clever.

I was thinking of making a mask myself but I don't know if I could. Maybe you could help me out.

Basically, I want to make a Jay-Z mask (It's an in house thing, as silly as it sounds). Obviously I'm not going to be able to cast from him.

What would be the best/easiest technique to do this and how hard would it be to sculpt a convincing base from clean non-drying clay??? I've never done anything like this before...

  • @SueMyChin Depends on your skill level. Start out simple and work up. Our DVD fundamentals of silicone skins is a good starting place.

  • thanks for these videos..not many artist give there secrets away for free..

  • you guys are amazing. Love your videos and admire your skills.

  • damn.... thats tight... XD

  • come check out my video called the hamburger lady

Its a scary / disturbing video made to display my new prop that i made for halloween... This video contains disturbing imagery and is based off of tthe throbbing gristles song called hamburger lady

please check it out and let me know what you think <3

  • all i want to be in my life is a mask maker :P...sad really

  • that looks like a freaking zombie :O

  • can this same thing made up with latex ?

  • Yes and no. Yes, you can build up a latex mask. No, you cant build up latex this thick w/o drying issues.

  • @brickintheyard

    How bout foam latex?

  • @Skeletonwitharaygun What do you mean?

  • Being an FX person is all about getting crazy reactions out of people.

  • I do believe that you have summed up the universal inspiration to be an FX person.

  • Go to 9:12

  • did any body see this but it looks like hoffman in the saw 6 ending

  • nice man

  • that mask is fucking horrifying

  • can you use just regluar paint for blood and gore?

  • Needs to be silicone since only silicone sticks to silicone.

  • how did u get the needle in the ezacto knife part and make it stik also how big dose the needle need to be

  • Watch our silicone face video for more hair punching information.

  • were do u get the fake teeth and hair from

  • The jaw is from a rubber skull. Just a cheap prop from a halloween store. The hair is real human hair from a beauty supply shop.

  • I have a question, approximately how much money does it cost to make this from start to finish, do you really need any special tools, and the large jugs of platsil 10 that you use, how much platsil 10 is that???
