so...in the first case it sounds like he's SINGING, albeit off pitch, but with autotune it just sounds like total SHIT. it's not even remotely listenable because now the "voice" doesn't sound like a voice anymore! At least singing poorly is real! Autotune does for the voice what silicone does for breasts...it gives a great illusion, but ultimately they have no feeling and are FAKE!

I don't think you sing poorly. I think you just need to select music that is in a more appropriate range for your voice. Make sure you're sitting up straight if you always sing sitting anyway... your breathing has more effect on your voice than you'd think. One last tip: Imagine fogging up a mirror with your breath and use a warm-air voice.

he's 100% correct here. he can carry a tune (he's certainly not tone deaf) but he has fairly problematic pitch problems. overall, definitely an OK singer, but not great. anyone with half a musical ear can tell this. this is not a diss - he can sing better than most people (who often cannot even find the correct notes without assistance from an accompanying vocal track - which he bravely does not use here). with autotune, pitch is not a problem anymore.

here's a little fun fact a lot of people don't know about autotune. There is a way to make it sound like you're not a robot. There are still some things you can hear that sound unnatural, but it's not as bad. People don't pickup on this, and a lot of singers use this to sound perfect, but not robotic. And for the record, I think it's wrong to do so
