Generally referring to the brown uniforms worn during the fictional Battle of Serenity Valley...or, it could just be that Captain Malcolm Reynolds wears a shiny brown coat. =D Either way, it's a term to describe Firefly/Serenity fans. =)

He then looks directly at the camera and says "We're gonna get that show back on the air, buddy!" (The actor is a friend of Nathan Fillion.)

There was also a firefly reference in another episode. Its a flashback scene where sheldon writes up a schedule and a weekly thing was to watch firefly. It was on the schedule as it would 'run for years' or something to that effect.
